It's not the umps to make the call. the fielding has to appeal the runner at third.  if you watch slow pitch, a lot of playrs miss bases but no one appeals. when I played I got a lot of easy outs because I watched the runners going around the bases. some one is just butt hurt, that the umps didn't call the runner out. but they can't.

I completely agree that the umpires did nothing wrong.  There is nothing they can do on that play outside of an appeal (which there was none).  The homeplate ump actually did the right thing in not making a "safe" signal indicating that an appeal probably would have resulted in an out.

I think the two bigger issues are that this was "called" or "taught" which I'm not super upset about and the social media incident.  Sure it's kind of bush, but this has been around for a while and many other teams have done something like this.  To me-- I relate it to teaching your players to flop in basketball.  Against the rules, could get caught.

I guess my issue is probably with the coach responding on twitter and bragging about it.  I think that's caused the biggest issues and I'm hearing that he may have actually been fired.  Personally, it's something that I would have just let be.  Let them complain and brush it off.  It would have died down.  Especially since they ended up losing anyways.  However boasting and talking about it on social media has caused the most stir I think.
