Interesting Case here...Skechers suing Adidas for paying players....well, I hope this brings down any coaches and programs that have been skirting the system.

From article/complaint:

 

“Adidas would have consumers, investors, and the public believe that hot, up-and-coming collegiate basketball players, as well as talented young players who move on to the National Basketball Association (‘NBA’), choose adidas’s products due to their supposed superior performance and style,” it says in the complaint.

“In fact, however, adidas has coopted young players into wearing and expressly or implicitly endorsing its products by funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars in secret payments to players, their coaches, and/or family members in violation of National Collegiate Athletic Association (‘NCAA’) rules.”

I'm sure thousands of athletes were chomping at the bit to get Skechers sponsorships...

This comes on the heals of Adidas prevailing in a lawsuit against Skechers.  Adidas was able to prove that Sketchers "stole" a shoe design.  Me thinks the cost of name brand shoes are about to rise.

Isn't that the issue....if the big shoe companies are skirting the rules and getting athletes to wear their shoes and not paying taxes on those deals (that is the law issue, not the NCAA rules)...then do we end  up thinking less  of companies like skechers....

Jamal Crawford was a Skecher's basketball player before leaving for Adidas.

making fun of Skechers because they aren't Nike, UA or Adidas....but again isn't that the point....if the big 3 skirted the rules/law to get their favorable impressions....in the end they are just shoes.

Idk, it would be one thing if Sketchers was trying to compete with them, but they haven't even attempted to make a decent basketball shoe.

Off topic, but is anybody sporting the Starbury shoes anymore?

I have pairs of both... and I think you get beat up on the playground for wearing Starburys. If only Steph could have checked himself, him and KG could have been legendary...
