HolyBobpilgrimage replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
The big ten commentator community absolutely loves our bench antics. Lol Man is it beautiful how our zone has absolutely paralyzed Illinois, they're just standing around. Let's build on This! 5 3pt lead -

Man I love those 3 celebrations. Heheh. Glad to see we dug out of that dumb hole, this is a huge confidence boost. Have some problems, but problems to fix but if we can build a lead, or not...just win. But man... Illinois is sneaky scary. I think we all knew that coming in -

Aaaaaaand it's official, bears win (And they're in now). That's a killer. And some really bad hero ball by Texas tech there at the end. Ugh. Garbage. ? -

Baylor and their annoying neon green ?? maybe I just still hold that grudge for losing to them back 4 years ago -

A really discouraging night with a lot of upsets and wins from bubble teams. Ugh. Tonight baylor looks like theyll take out texas tech (come on, man!!!) Half of me feels like we're probably in, but then a lot of miracle teams make runs at the end like this, and I don't need the stress!! This happens every year, some good teams are thrown out because others go out and get a huge upset or Cinderella their tourney. Makes it exciting, but man.... -
Nebraska on the Selection Committee Board

exactly. These bracket predictions and models are for the stat/number guys and the obsessed and/or worried, like blo joes like us. We can't take them seriously, although we always do. They're simply predictions and a bit of a litmus test to try to figure out where your team stands. -
Cheers! I'm sort of the same. Although it was maximum feelsbadman at the maryland game where I was way up in 300 and when I would stand my big 6'1" frame would almost completely block the view of some really excited kids sitting behind me. That all said, nothing will stop me from standing as much as I can on no sit sunday. it worked fairly well last time, and besides that, its just fun. I've never understood (except for old age) why people come to a sports event and can't stand standing (pun intended).... I MEAN, isn't that the point? to enjoy the sports being played and get into it??? We need to cultivate more serious nebrasketball heads and less casual/fair weather ones. I'd say its going fairly well tho.

Is it simply the magic of the Vault (or happenstance) that every final home game of a tournament season is a huge, win or go home kind of game? first in 2014 with the win over wisconsin stamping our ticket (and putting an exclamation point on a great season) to the tournament, and now this year with win 23 stamping that ticket once again, perhaps? all the pundits seem to think so!
-
certainly. you're on point. But failing to win against another tournament team (i believe) in Penn State at home, where we are so, so good, would be a blight on the season. This will be huge. huger than huge, tho I expect the fans and state of Nebraska to step up BIG time.

yep, and it alsmo means that all of our big ten losses are to top-40 OR tier 1 teams. NO bad losses. But we aren't impressing anyone really, it's kinda a meh numbers year but then again we're playing our asses off and not losing bad games for a long time now. Let's hope we can squeeze in, but now this are even MORE interesting on the bubble. college hoops are CRAAAAZY dude. this big ten tourney is gonna be mad interesting! -

...just like us, but cranked up 5 notches. They play the best teams in the conference to close out. Their tourney probability is low, simply because it's so backloaded. Yeah, we're not out of the woods yet, this is going to be tough. But the positive thing is that if we win 2 and then cap it with Penn State, that can only help our RPI with a win there. That's a pretty impressive record there in early March. I'd rather sit back and enjoy the big ten tourney without worrying whether we get in and instead on improving our seed. So let's just win out. PSU is gonna be solo awesome. No sit Sunday, redux! -

Honestly, and I believe this to be true because of all my years of experience in life seeing the crazy, haywire, crazy beast that is college ball, but am just convinced that it's something that's almost always completely random and unpredictable. The experts just do the best they can, armed with the data they get, but the margin that separates some dude on his couch and a computer and an espn basketball analyst is fairly thin. Those guys just do it more often. Not meant to diss the profession, more to point out just how difficult it is. Filling out brackets wouldn't be such a big thing and global gambling opportunity if it wasn't pretty tough and low-probability -

Seriously!! It's gonna be SUCH a big game and I'm so happy that scheduling worked out just so perfectly (like it did 4 years ago) to put a huge one at the end. This is gonna be so fun!! GBR -

Purdue is so down. Isn't that loss #3 in a row? But it also means it's a tough conference, not that you'll hear that from the self proclaimed "expert bracketologists" -

Just caught the halftime highlights on espn after the end of that Wisconsin upset. And the Nlions are taking the bucknuts to the woodshed. Wow. 42-19 half. I kind of saw this coming from a red hot and motivated Penn State squad, but daymn... gonna catch the end at home after I get off. -
Yes indeed. We're in. But not only in celebration, if we're being real here lol.

Yeah, they're really good. Both have great length and can shoot the he'll out of the ball. One of the Martin brothers avgs 19, one 13. And one has a really weird curled up jump shot, but it works! Then tonight they had this Stephens guy who shot 6-8 from deep. Both fun teams, I doubt Boise will miss tho unfortunately unless they get upset -

Catching the late game in the MW tonight, which is a huge one between ranked and solidly in leaders Nevada, and bubble team Boise st (#2). Hoping for a Boise loss at home here. The game is really fast, back and forth with no defense in the second half here. Boise is right there with us in first 4 out so this could be big. Rooting for other bubble teams to lose the rest of the way just to make it easier, but it's inevitable that bubble teams will lose and knock themselves out. Plus were still driving the car; winning out and not getting destroyed and looking bad in the B1G tourney puts us in pretty much 100% -

yeah, I get the feeling that the fans think that being doormice will help. It's frankly amazing that 15,000 people can be so quiet. But yea I'm on board, lets just get some chit chatter and I think it'd be a bit easier. I know I wouldnt be able to make free throws as easily with thousands of people stock still staring at me, than only 75% of them focused on the FT. idk.
