  1. Rochester's Lillie Meister heading to Indiana (posted on her twitter account)
  2. Mershon will have to sit: Mershon just completed her second season at Nebraska, averaging 1.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. She will not be eligible to play for the Gophers this season as she sits out one season due to NCAA transfer rules. She sees the year off from games as an opportunity to grow her own game and take her skills to the next level.“I really want to work on my scoring mentality. At Nebraska, they saw me more as a defensive threat, while the coaches here want me to be more of an overall player,” Mershon said. “I think working on my offensive game and connections with my teammates will make the transition that much easier next year.”
  3. pretty sure i read minnesota won't allow ANYONE into the games.
  4. i see sdsu defeated #15 iowa state in wbb. went and watched the video highlights (since i live in sd ) to me, it looked like they allowed some fans in. you could see "pods" of them scattered about. some of the shots of the fans appeared to be students, so, i don't believe it was just family. hard to say how many attended...couple hundred? maybe a little more? just can't believe the big ten can't figure out how to let some fans in.
  5. i was wondering if they might let family members in?
  6. i think Cain has developed into a pretty good leader. i was really impressed how she stepped up at times last season (or maybe i should say sat). especially after that OSU game. having said that, i think that "natural born leader" has been missing. thought maybe it might be there with Brown?...of course, she is gone now. have to see what they got with the "new" players.
  7. quote from a 'Variety' 2018 article: "Disney spends piles of cash on ESPN every year — one 2016 estimate has the company paying out $7.3 billion annually for sports rights alone. Yet with viewers being offered additional video choices and setting up new behaviors to watch baseball, football and other sports, money alone won’t solve the problem. “How many more subscribers go away?” asks George Pyne, founder of the investment firm Bruin Sports Capital and a former president of IMG Sports and Entertainment. “How much is that going to change as you switch from linear to direct-to-consumer in the next 10 years?”
  8. i would guess it's more of a financial thing. well-known espn has been struggling for years now. i only watch games now on that channel. quit watching anything else quite a few years ago when they turned more to politics.
  9. appears to be out at espn. imagine that means less coverage for ncaa wbb. appeared to me to be ESPN's decision, not his. sounded like he is looking elsewhere. maybe he will land at one of the other major sports sites.
  10. apparently, North Dakota State had the Huskers on their schedule (exact date slips my feeble mind, but, believe it was for Nov 25th. it has been removed. states it was "cancelled" but sounds like there is a possibility of it being added back.
  11. first of all, it is possible i have missed the explanation? (if there was one)... having said that, is anyone else shocked there hasn't been more "pushback" from wcbb about cancellation of ACC Challenge from the women's side? along the lines, "if the men can hold their challenge, why can't the women?" i know it's late, but just surprised there wasn't more of an uproar when announced. maybe someone with more knowledge could pass something along?
  12. Adia Barnes has the Arizona program turning the corner. known for her recruiting. wouldn't surprise me at all if she has that program a perennial top 15...possibly top 10 team going forward. 2019-20 Record: 24-7, 12-6 Coach: Adia Barnes Coach Record: 68-60 at Arizona, 68-60 overall Key Departed Players (starters in bold) Dominique McBryde, Forward, 6.9 ppg Amari Carter, Guard, 5.6 ppg Tara Manumaleuga, Guard, 2.4 ppg Lucia Alonso, Guard, 2.3 ppg Key Returning Players (starters in bold) Aari McDonald, Senior, Guard, 20.6 ppg Cate Reese, Junior, Forward, 13.6 ppg Sam Thomas, Senior, Forward, 9.5 ppg Helena Pueyo, Sophomore, Guard, 6.7 ppg Semaj Smith, Junior, Center, 3.3 ppg Mara Mote, Sophomore, Guard, 1.6 ppg Key New Players Trinity Baptiste, Senior, Forward, Grad Transfer from Virginia Tech Derin Erdogan, Freshman, Guard Marta Garcia, Freshman, Forward Lakin Gardner, Freshman, Guard Shaina Pellington, Junior, Guard, Transfer from Oklahoma Lauren Ware, Freshman, Forward Bendu Yeaney, Junior, Guard, Transfer from Indiana
  13. Dilliard, Porter, and Cravens most likely will have to match expectations for the huskers to contend for a spot in the middle of the pack. i read where Scoggins played very well last season....hopefully, it continues in the Big Ten. she'll be up against some pretty good guard play in this conference. so many questions for the upcoming season---not to mention the covid crap. right now, i just feel this squad could finish anywhere from 8th to 14th. much may have to do how well they can play together...and, not much experience there.
  14. i retain the point of view husker fans are just not going to see that much of Helms (and...i always have stated i hope she proves me wrong, but, with her chronic condition?) Scoggins---isn't it at least 3 acl surgeries? one surgery was botched. Cayton---acl, maybe twice? Brady---out a chunk of last season to concussion issues? plus, i believe she was in a car accident during her hs career and they weren't sure if she could play again due to head trauma? hoping that doesn't become an issue. yes, fans are inquisitive so we sit at our computers/phones and wonder if the injuries are related to past issues. pretty sure of the one, though.
  15. "injuries".....makes me a bit nervous. if related to "past issues"...i could see this being a real problem. hope i am wrong, but, difficult not to enter the mind.
  16. first huskerwbb show with matt coatney and coach williams will be tonight from 7-8pm! taking calls!
  17. well....still rather quiet on the schedule scene. i see the Summit League has released their schedule. just a guess, but, i think we should see something today (Nov. 18th).
  18. Maryland Terrapins Overall Rank: #10 Conference Rank: #1 Big Ten Maryland Team Page Maryland has won five Big Ten titles since joining the conference six seasons ago. The other year they finished way back in second. Until proven otherwise, the Terrapins will remain the team to beat in the conference. However, the rest of the Big Ten does have some hope in 2020-2021 as Coach Brenda Frese attempts to replace all five starters. 2019-20 Record: 28-4, 16-2 Coach: Brenda Frese Coach Record: 486-128 at Maryland, 543-158 overall Key Departed Players (starters in bold) Kaila Charles, Guard, 14.3 ppg Shakira Austin, Forward, 12.0 ppg Stephanie Jones, Forward, 11.3 ppg Taylor Mikesell, Guard, 11.2 ppg Blair Watson, Guard, 7.8 ppg Sara Vujacic, Guard, 3.5 ppg Key Returning Players (starters in bold) Ashley Owusu, Sophomore, Guard, 12.0 ppg Diamond Miller, Sophomore, Guard, 7.7 ppg Faith Masonius, Sophomore, Guard/Forward, 3.8 ppg Channise Lewis, Junior, Guard, dnp last season Key New Players Katie Benzan, Senior, Guard, Grad Transfer from Harvard Chloe Bibby, Senior, Guard/Forward, Transfer from Mississippi State Mimi Collins, Sophomore, Forward, Transfer from Tennessee Taisiya Kozlova, Freshman, Guard Angel Reese, Freshman, Forward/Guard Zoe Young, RS Freshman, Guard Projection: Despite losing all five starters, Maryland does return a double digit scorer who started half of the team’s games last season. Ashley Owusu had a very productive freshman campaign, averaging 12.0 points and 5.4 assists. She earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year accolades and is suddenly the experienced leader on this team. A couple of other sophomores will look for more playing time this season too. Diamond Miller and Faith Masonius were the clear second and third options for Maryland off the bench in 2019-2020. That experience, and more available minutes, should lead to more production this time around. The only returning upperclassman is Channise Lewis, who missed last season. The point guard was a part-time starter two years ago and dished out 5.4 assists. Three Division I transfers will bring more experience to the roster. Katie Benzan was an All-Ivy League First-Team honoree three times before coming to College Park. Chloe Bibby was a starter at Mississippi State and is a solid rebounder and shooter. Mimi Collins spent just one season at Tennessee where she averaged 5.5 points and rebounds. While all of that experience is great, Maryland fans are most excited about incoming freshman Angel Reese. The 6-3 wing is the highest ranked incoming recruit in Maryland history and will make a huge impact right away. There are a lot of new pieces here, but Coach Frese has the talent and depth she needs to win another Big Ten title. Projected Postseason Tournament: NCAA By the Numbers: Scoring Offense: 82.8 (4th in nation, 1st in conference) Scoring Defense: 57.0 (29, 2) Field-Goal Percentage: 46.8 (11, 2) Field-Goal Defense: 36.6 (42, 3) Three-Point Field Goals Per Game: 6.6 (115, 6) Three-Point Field-Goal Percentage: 36.6 (16, 2) Free-Throw Percentage: 70.7 (139, 6) Rebound Margin: 8.7 (16, 1) Assists Per Game: 18.3 (8, 2) Turnovers Per Game: 14.8 (120, Madness 2020 Women’s Basketball Recruit Rankings: #3 Angel Reese

  20. wow.........really surprised Big10 haven't released schedules yet of course, look how they handled the football programs!
  21. Kentucky wbb coach has resigned... Kentucky women's basketball coach Matthew Mitchell has retired after 13 seasons with the Wildcats, athletic director Mitch Barnhart announced Thursday.Mitchell, with a record of 303-133 at Kentucky, is the winningest coach in the program's history"After much conversation with my family and Mr. Barnhart, I have decided to retire from coaching and effectively have resigned as head coach at Kentucky," Mitchell said in a statement. "This was a difficult decision and I know the timing is not ideal, but I do not feel I can give the job what it requires at this time."Mitchell had surgery over the summer for blood on the brain, which happened after he fell while on vacation and suffered a concussion. "As has been much publicized, I have had an eventful offseason with my injury and subsequent surgery. I have been open about the fact that the surgery and recovery process has been life-altering for me and my family," Mitchell said. "Through that, my priorities towards my family and my faith has grown even larger than before and that has led me to make this decision. Although so much about today is sad because I will greatly miss the relationships and people that have constantly lifted up my family and me the last 13 years, I am resolute in my decision and comfortable with beginning the next chapter of my life."Associate head coach Kyra Elzy will take over as the interim head coach for the Wildcats effective immediately
  22. https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/30300151/which-women-college-basketball-teams-players-make-biggest-jumps-2020-21 Big Ten Surprise team: Michigan Wolverines The Wolverines were headed for a program-record third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance a season ago, likely with their best seed in coach Kim Barnes Arico's time in Ann Arbor. We all know why that didn't happen, but the canceled postseason makes it all too easy to forget the stories that were emerging beforehand. The good news for the maize and blue is that Michigan should be even better this time around -- maybe even Big Ten championship good. That starts with junior forward Naz Hillmon, but an extra year of eligibility for fifth-year guard Akienreh Johnson might yet prove to be one of the offseason's more underrated developments. Emerging player: Dorka Juhasz, Ohio State Buckeyes Due to a pandemic and Ohio State's post-Kelsey Mitchell stumbles the previous year, Juhasz enters her third season still waiting to play her first NCAA tournament game. But that is in no way a reflection on how ready the 6-foot-4 Hungarian's game is for the national spotlight. Juhasz is the Big Ten's returning leader in defensive rebounds. She's not far off that pace in offensive rebounds and blocks. She's a legit presence around the basket. But Juhasz also shot 40% from the 3-point line a season ago. She does all the modern game asks of its bigs.
  23. Ohio State Team Page Following a disappointing 2018-2019 season, Ohio State finished 21-12 last season. It may not have been as impressive as their four year run from 2014 to 2018, but it was a step in the right direction. And with six of their top seven scorers returning, Coach Kevin McGuff’s team is poised to compete for a Big Ten title and make a deep NCAA Tournament run. 2019-20 Record: 21-12, 11-7 Coach: Kevin McGuff Coach Record: 134-65 at Ohio State, 389-164 overall Key Departed Players (starters in bold) Kierstan Bell, Guard, 10.9 ppg Janai Crooms, Guard, 6.8 ppg Key Returning Players (starters in bold) Dorka Juhasz, Junior, Forward, 13.2 ppg Jacy Sheldon, Sophomore, Guard, 9.6 ppg Braxtin Miller, Senior, Guard, 8.2 ppg Aaliyah Patty, Junior, Forward, 7.8 ppg Madison Greene, Sophomore, Guard, 7.7 Rebeka Mikulasikova, Sophomore, Forward, 7.7 ppg Key New Players Tanaya Beacham, Senior, Forward, Grad Transfer from Toledo Rikki Harris, RS Freshman, Guard Gabby Hutcherson, Freshman, Forward Anyssa Jones, Freshman, Guard Kateri Poole, Freshman, Guard Hevynne Bristow, Sophomore, Guard, Transfer from Providence, not eligible Projection: Junior forward Dorka Juhasz is the lone returning player who averaged double digits in the scoring department. On top of her 13.2 points, Juhasz added 9.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. She earned All-Big Ten First-Team honors last season and will be among the favorites to earn Big Ten Player of the Year honors this season. Jacy Sheldon had a strong freshman campaign and averaged 9.6 points per game. She is a solid outside shooter and should emerge as the Buckeyes top scoring threat on the perimeter. Madison Greene is another promising sophomore who can shoot the ball. Braxtin Miller will again run the point after dishing out 3.5 assists per game last season. Aaliyah Patty will again start beside Juhasz and Ohio State has plenty of frontcourt depth. Rebeka Mikulasikova spent last season coming off the bench and the 6-4 sophomore will likely play that role again and the addition of Tanaya Beacham, a graduate transfer from Toledo, will give the Buckeyes plenty of experienced options. A solid recruiting class will largely benefit the backcourt with redshirt freshman Rikki Harris and incoming freshman Kateri Poole leading the way. Projected Postseason Tournament: NCAA By the Numbers: Scoring Offense: 71.5 (52nd in nation, 4th in conference) Scoring Defense: 65.9 (212, Field-Goal Percentage: 43.4 (51, 6) Field-Goal Defense: 39.0 (128, 6) Three-Point Field Goals Per Game: 7.4 (57, 3) Three-Point Field-Goal Percentage: 32.1 (121, 9) Free-Throw Percentage: 68.6 (198, 9) Rebound Margin: 0.6 (167, 9) Assists Per Game: 15.2 (47, 4) Turnovers Per Game: 15.2 (143, 9) Madness 2020 Women’s Basketball Recruit Rankings: #32 Kateri Poole #46 Gabby Hutcherson See All Top 44 Women’s Basketball Previews
