  1. I heard they most likely will go back to Canada and play. Apparently not going back to Canada. They visited KState this past weekend and sounds like they may visit a few other Big 12 schools. Any chance they would visit the Huskers?
  2. This is why more NCAA tourney games should be played in PBA in the future. People here go, even if the Huskers aren't in it. Looks good on television.
  3. I would hate to see the women's game become more like the men's game. Rather than try to force that to happen, why don't they put more marketing into attracting more women and girls to the games, and university students? I would think that would be your target demo. Most of that needs to be done at the university level with a concerted effort from the athletic department. I'm a Husker fan and I support all Husker sports. Some I support more than others and women's basketball is one that I really enjoy to watch.

  7. Seems to me AZB was pretty inconsistent in her play. Was not impressed with her at all when we played her. But then she had some games against other teams where she put it together and played well. But not often enough. Maybe the WNBA can coax that out of her.
  8. Not sure if this link will work, you may need to register to read thread but it is free. They state that Lanie is in the KState student directory. http://kansasstate.scout.com/forums/2672-women-s-basketball/13765831-lanie-page-commits-to-kansas-state-update?s=173
  9. Read on a KState board that Lanie has signed with KState already.
  10. During the tournament a few weeks ago, I believe it was Rebecca Lobo talking about Geno. According to her, he has always had the same coaching style, even when UConn wasn't always winning the national championship. She said the difference is that now he is able to get the best recruits. Not sure I buy into that completely. I think it must be a combination of the two, with really good recruits getting the edge.
  11. Their defense is good enough that other teams tend to get late in the shot clock and then either have it expire or throw up a desperation shot several times. They also do a good job of defending on inbound plays and have seen several teams get called for a few 5 second violations. I don't think their defense was very good in the first half against Dayton, and I feel that was the main reason Dayton hung with them for a while. But in the second half, they defended well and Dayton struggled. Maryland just couldn't get it together last night. And they got burned on transition a few times early. Wonder if that got in their heads a bit.
  12. Things I have noticed with UConn: 1. Everyone on the floor can score consistently. Everyone. 2. They play great D. 3. When they get a lead, they never take their foot off the pedal. 4. I never see them standing around looking confused or uncertain, even when the game is close (which usually only happens in the first half). 5. No foul trouble.
  13. DO IT!!!!
  14. Just an update: It might all be falling into place to get Dad Page on the coaching staff. http://www.kstatesports.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/040115aaa.html Also, rumors are swirling that there will be a couple of transfers announced (from what I read on KState board).
  15. And when UConn cranks up their defense, it makes it that much harder. I was really impressed with their adjustment at half in the Dayton game.
  16. Hopefully Maryland has a better game against UConn. They didn't seem to be hitting their shots and were making dumb turnovers. Finally started to pull it together the latter part of the first half. Although I will say, UConn didn't look as great as usual in their first half against Dayton. It was like they were afraid to guard Dayton's 3 point shooters. Dayton also had a lot of turnovers but were still ahead by 1 at half. I told my daughter UConn would come out the second half and blow them out of the water. Their defense was pretty intense the second half.
  17. I was a little surprised the players pounded on the cutout so hard his head flopped back.
  18. I can see a lot of turnover when a new coach and staff are brought in. Hard for me to fault some of the younger kids for transferring when that happens. And if they want to leave, the school should not stop them (eg. KSU). I also find it hard to fault a kid if they are just plain homesick, or if there are other family issues (like illness or death, not the kind where daddy thinks you should be getting more playing time). I have poked around numerous message boards trying to figure out what went down at Indiana. I've found a few that have made reference to an impending lawsuit, but it is vague and I can't figure who is suing.
  19. It's their new coach from what I can gather. She has her way of doing things and if you want to play you do it my way. Remember all those Hoosiers that are transferring were recruited by previous IU head coach Kurt Miller before he mysteriously had to resign last summer. Has anyone ever heard what the deal was with former Indiana coach?Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Not sure, but just ran across this: http://www.idsnews.com/article/2015/03/former-iu-miller-coach-a-candidate-for-wnba-job
  20. I guess I can see how a school with a new coach might lose a lot of kids to transfer the first year or so, so I can give Minnesota a bit of a pass. But Indiana strikes me as odd, and Jacqui Grant leaving Illinois still seems strange to me. DePaul is way better for basketball, better tradition, better coach, and opportunities for post season play. It's not like she's leaving a good basketball school where she didn't get playing time and then going somewhere less competitive. Exactly the opposite.
  21. So if Maryland performs a miracle and actually wins it all, will it be an awkward meeting at the White House?
  22. Has anyone else noticed that Maryland seems to have trouble selling tickets? I see lots of empty seats, and not just during the regular season.
  23. Seriously? Do you suppose that was her idea or something stupid ESPN came up with? Wasn't there some weird ticket punching thing in the locker room before Minnesota played us at PBA? I've always wondered if that is something the network comes up with, and the coaches and players go along with it for the cameras.
  24. And I totally forgot to mention Kalenta.
  25. definitely something to be concerned about. kansashusker makes a point. i did forget about Washington. you state in your comment she is "really fast, and strong". if true, as i know absolutely nothing about her game, it could be possible she fills the spot that Sample leaves vacant. Could that mean we have Jess and Washington as starters with Havers coming off the bench? It will be interesting to see how things unfold as the season goes on. I'm really looking forward to it. In fact, I'm hoping we see good minutes from all 4: Jess, Washington, Blackburn, and Havers. It would be so nice to have a rotation of 4 there for those times we run into weird refs.
