I still say Jim Page will be coaching at KState next year. I think it looks questionable when a parent is hired right before their child is signed. It's one thing to already be an established coach somewhere (like John Cook before his daughter transferred back home), but it's another thing to be hired with 0 college coaching experience immediately prior to your kid's college decision.

MSU loses by 10 to Maryland. Had MSU shot more than 32%, they might have won this game.

Havers played really well yesterday. Wish we could get that from her consistently. Hopefully that will be there next year. -

It seemed to me last night that we were also willing to take that open shot near the lane early in the shot clock if it was there. Hailie and Em both had good buckets, as well as Havers. That was a change from the OSU game, where passing that up was not in our favor. -

I think part of the difference in this game compared to the last two times we played Illinois is that the refs were finally calling fouls on Illinois where they should have. I remember Coatney saying in one of those previous two times that there were a good 20 fouls by White, but only 5 were called (and it took a long time to get them). I also noticed in the Minnesota game that followed that the refs were calling AZB for her foot shuffle that I've seen her do a lot this year. -

Kissinger didn't really get much meaningful playing time in conference. White might be the highest scoring player in the Big 10 in the fewest minutes due to her foul trouble. -

So, does the Kissinger girl stay at Illinois? -

I think we are in the NCAA tourney now. One of the announcers also said iowa was the #1 seed. Maybe Connie was sharing the blunt. -

I thought she put the starters back in because the bench players were stinking it up. -

Like that Connie made a statement to the bench by putting the starters back in. -

Why would anyone want to play this style of ball? Reminds me of junior high. -

White's slowness means she fouls a lot. -

I won't be comfortable until we are 20 points ahead with 2 minutes left in the game and all of Illinois has fouled out and the coaches have been ejected. Then I think I can relax. -
Is anyone still wondering about the answer to this question?

We absolutely cannot afford a scoring drought. T was leaving her jump shots short against OSU. I think she will be hitting them today, and hopefully Natalie can make some 3s for us. -
I think T might have a chance because of her speed, good D, and she worked on her jump shot this year. Her speed is the main thing. I think Cady is a bit undersized, but if she doesn't get drafted I'm sure she could play professionally overseas and do well. It sounds like there is more money overseas for them anyway.

Starts tomorrow. Good article about Pius X and Maddie Simon and teammates. If you are available at 10:45 tomorrow morning, go to PBA and watch them take on Scottsbluff. http://journalstar.com/sports/high-school/basketball/girls/state-hoops-2015/girls-state-basketball-pius-x-seniors-looking-to-go-out/article_2f2d296b-aa53-5f0d-a93c-0ffd7b51f2c9.html

It will be tremendous to have Theriot as the floor general with all the youth that we will have. That will make a huge difference - her leadership will be instrumental next year. The person I am very curious about for next year is Esther. She played some minutes this year when we were going through Boot-Gate. She needs to find her shot, and communicate on defense. When I watch her defend one-on-one, she seems to have pretty quick feet and is constantly moving, almost hyper. That could come in handy, but she needs to make sure she communicates, and find her shot to contribute offensively. She may never be a starter, but could be useful coming off the bench to spell people. She sure seems to get along with everyone and is always cheering very loudly for the team. I like her, and I want to see her be successful.
-
This will be the class standing next year: Seniors - 2 (Theriot and Kalenta) Juniors - 2 (Esther and Allie) Sophs - 4 (Cinco, Romeo, Smith, Wood) Fresh+RFr - 4 (Blackburn, Shepard, Simon, and Washington as a RFr) I am assuming Theriot and Allie will get plenty of playing time, as well as Cinco, Romeo, and Smith. I also think that Blackburn, Shepard, Simon, and Washington will get significant minutes. Hopefully no one will get bitten by the injury bug. Maybe we will also see significant minutes from Kalenta, that would be nice. The team will be very young, but there is a lot of opportunity to earn playing time with hard work. It could be a bit of a tough year, especially with the improvement of teams in the conference, but it will be an exciting year for sure.

I think Simon will surprise a lot of people. Maryland also recruited her.

I've often wondered why a coach would recruit someone who is not a proven scorer. It is basketball, after all. If it were me, I would go ahead and recruit someone who was at least 6'7" and still learning their touch and scoring ability, but I wouldn't give a break to anyone else. And I would want some speed. But that's just me. I think it is exciting to watch teams like Maryland and OSU.

I was just looking at Ohio State's schedule. They lost at Maryland early by 9, lost at Michigan by 6 in OT, lost at home to Minny by 4, lost at Iowa by 8, lost at Illinois by 11. Played both michigan and Iowa again and won both of those. They shot under 37% at Illinois and Mitchell fouled out in that game, so maybe that was their turd game. They could surprise someone in the NCAA tourney.

Looking at the tourney bracket I think Ohio State stands a good chance of playing Maryland for the championship.
