  1. And the Coyote Crazies storm the court as South Dakota wins 71-65! Fun game to watch!
  2. Up 31-27 at half.
  3. Yotes playing good D.
  4. Personally I have felt they should raise the rim for men and lengthen the court.
  5. This is the same Oregon team that beat current final 4 Washington team by 12 late in the season on the road. Smoked by the Yotes!!
  6. Stewart was the #1 recruit in 2012 according to ESPN.
  7. Sophomore PG from Utah State is also leaving. She was freshman of the year in that conference a year ago. Averages over 20 ppg.
  8. I thought I heard a while back that Powers will have finished her degree this May.
  9. Wonder if Larson will wind up at SDSU.
  10. Refresh my memory - I could swear Cinco was out for a while early in the season due to injury. Maybe it was illness? And I heard that Esther was out due to concussion. Last year was boot-gate. I suppose part of what we are seeing is the loss of some recruits (Chandler and the Page sisters mostly). Tvrdy came off the bench and played some solid minutes for CSU this season. I think it is crucial when a player has an injury or comes in with an injury that there is constant communication among the trainers and S&C and the coaches. They all need to work together to ensure that the player is recovering and not taking steps backwards in the recovery process. The left hand needs to know what the right hand is doing at all times.
  11. I think if Coach Yori has mentioned that the season is long, then she should make sure she subs more. And that can only be done if people aren't injured. So look at practices, S&C, athletic trainers, and use the athletic performance lab to identify issues with individual athletes. There really should be no reason that a sophomore (one that is not injured and not in the doghouse for some reason) shouldn't be able to give some meaningful minutes off the bench.
  12. I suspect it is not just the practice scenario, but also issues with the rehabilitation process once they are injured. I am still astonished that Shepard entered school early in the summer so that she had access to the trainers and S&C and in the fall when she was evaluated by the athletic performance lab, she was behind in her recovery. How does that happen? And it doesn't fall on Jess, she works hard. I'm telling you, there is a major issue with the trainers and S&C. And probably not just with the women's basketball team.
  13. Just some quick observations regarding the Yotes and the Jackrabbits: SDSU: 12 on the roster saw playing time, 8 of them averaged over 16 minutes per game, 4 averaged over 10 points in scoring, 8 played in over 30 of their 33 games played, no one averaged over 30 min/game USD: 13 on the roster saw playing time, 9 averaged over 10 minutes per game, 2 averaged over 10 points scoring, 12 played on over 30 of their 34 games played, no one averaged over 30 min/game Compared to NU: NU: 12 on the roster saw playing time, 9 averaged over 10 minutes per game, 2 averaged over 10 points scoring, 5 played in over 30 of the 31 games played, 2 averaged over 30 min/game My guess? INJURIES and DEPTH USD has 4 ladies from the state of Nebraska on their roster (and they will gain another this fall), 3 international players, and some homegrown talent. SDSU has a lot of SD ladies and several from Minnesota. I do know that when my daughter was being recruited for track and field, the coaches told us they like to recruit regionally and coach kids up. I'm wondering if that may also apply to other sports as well. Isn't there a young man from western Nebraska that plays basketball for SDSU and is doing extremely well? I also know that USD and SDSU have signed VB, FB, and softball players from Nebraska recently (in addition to track and field and soccer). They do a good job of getting the kids that NU (as a power 5 conference school) decides not to take a chance on.
  14. Surprise, surprise - Indiana not backing down. Would LOVE to see this upset!
  15. Good things are happening at USD. They really deserved an at-large bid to the NCAAs, and they have several brand new facilities that have either just opened or will open in the near future. Good community support as well, and a solid academic school.
  16. I think the WNIT Yotes vs Gophers final score was actually 101-89. Yotes were up by 18 at one point and instead of trying to run clock, they just kept attacking. Ten Yote players with 10+ minutes in the game.
  17. Next year we will lose Allie and Esther (and Ostrander if she does come back). And there might be the possibility of not having Washington. So do we only look for posts in the 2017 class?
  18. Does Washington stay or transfer? I was really hoping she would get some good minutes last night, and she didn't get a single second. IMO, the writing is on the wall. BTW, any word on Esther's injury?
  19. My personal opinion is that NU is a better school and has a better basketball program. You couldn't pay me to go to Missouri (and I used to live there!)
  20. Scores 72 of her team's 80 points in a win. Put her with Flaherty next year and Michigan could be pretty tough. http://www.wndu.com/content/news/Gondrezick-scores-state-record-72-as-Benton-Harbor-wins-playoff-opener-in-2OT-370594691.html
  21. Major kudos to the Athletic Performance Lab for recognizing that Jess' knee wasn't where it needed to be to safely return to the court last fall. I recall that she enrolled at NU during the summer so she could work with the strength and conditioning people and the athletic trainers. Along with all the injuries that have plagued our team the past several years, I am really questioning if there is any communication at all between strength and conditioning and the trainers.
  22. Might be hard to pull her out of South Dakota. If she doesn't leave the state, I would rather see her as a Yote than a Bunny.
  23. Five of the games yesterday decided by 3 points or less. Great tournament and so happy for the Lincoln East Spartans winning the championship as an 8 seed.
  24. I feel that if there is a WNIT invite, then we should play. Even if Jess is too injured to play, I would still like to see us play. Another game for those that can play, especially the younger ones, would only help going into next year. Put Washington out there, Blackburn, Cinco, Romeo, Simon, Esther, Wood, Havers, and another game for our healthy senior Anya. That's 9 girls, and maybe Jess could play a few minutes, too.
  25. 3 blind mice
