Coatney is not happy that nat didn't get POW. I wonder with Jess getting freshman of the week was part of why nat didn't get POW. He's right. That award should be Nat's.
-
I think we are up to #7 for freshman of the week. I believe Natalie got runner up for player of the week.

Did you see Butts give Burns a body shove when Butts walked past Burns, when Butts went out of the game in 4th qtr. ? Did it right when the TV camera was on her. Yes, I saw her bump her twice going out of the game. You could tell she Butts was seriously irritated with her.

Looked to me like Burns really irritated Butts late in the game.

I've learned that Coach Yori is an incredibly resilient person. Think back over the past several years: injuries that have resulted in medical red shirts and early departures, disciplinary issues resulting in game suspensions and sometimes dismissal from team, difficult parents resulting in player leaving team and recruit being dismissed, loss of solid coaches, her own medical issue that resulted in extended hospital stay. Then think about what has been accomplished during that time: undefeated regular season, a couple of sweet 16 appearances, Big10 title, some solid recruits, a very bright future. And she has done all this without her hair turning gray!

Does anyone know if TKiss picked up any more offers over the summer, or if she has narrowed her choices?

So Theriot doesn't start, and our girls come out all fired up and play their best first quarter of basketball on the road all season. Maybe they felt they had to step up since their leader wasn't on the floor?
-
Hey, if Esther is getting it done, I'm OK with her playing the whole game.
-
AWESOME
-
Is Theriot there?
-
I'm not able to watch or listen. Did Esther start?

I'm curious, and I don't know the answer to this question, but how many transfers are actually due to lack of playing time? If you remove transfers due to homesickness/family issues, academic issues, coaching changes, institutional issues (North Carolina and Illinois come to mind), how many are due to lack of playing time? I can't blame a kid if they get homesick or are overwhelmed academically, or the coach that recruits them leaves, or the program starts to fall apart.

Nice article on Havers today: http://www.omaha.com/huskers/havers-assertiveness-becoming-a-strength-for-husker-women/article_0ed98c3d-c5d2-58d4-bb5b-291fe0b485e8.html

Sounds as if she wants to be back on the court by the Holdrege game on Jan 22 or the Southwest Conference tourney the following week after breaking her wrist last November. Minden could sure use her, they're 6-5 now and had she been playing they could well have came out on the winning side in 4 of the 5 losses. As of now she still intends to announce her choice of school this summer. Don't know who her top 2 or 3 teams are, but ILL only had 100 (maybe) attendance last game. Surely she doesn't want to play in an empty gym her whole career? But playing with her sister? Just make the call Ms Kissinger for NU and end all the mystery. We sure would like it ...and she'd make a great tandem shooter with Mitchell for the future. Kissinger was at the game yesterday, of course. A decent Minden contingent showed up in support of Brooke. Some of them wore red. Most I talked to were saying they were cheering for the Huskers and Brooke. Taylor was on the floor after the game talking to Yori. One of the Minden folks said they didn't know if Taylor was going to Nebraska, but she wasn't going to Illinois. But apparently she likes Nebraska, and the family is aware of the travel burdens when someone is playing a considerable distance away. I was watching the Shelby contingent too. Looked like they were there to support White but indiscreetly rooting for the Huskers! Too bad - they could have been cheering for one and the same. I have to think if they had a do-over, they would not have picked Illinois. Maybe not Nebraska either, but definitely not Illinois.

Might want to keep an eye on Payton Brotzki from Plattview. Believe she is just a sophomore this year. I saw her play several times in middle school and she impressed me. Her father was (maybe still is) a coach and I think she understands the game. Had she not torn her ACL last season, I think Plattview would have been in the class B state championship game. She's doing quite well this year. Would be a shame if she went to Illinois (although I would say that for anyone considering Illinois). I was the one that questioned Kissinger's foot speed. But perhaps with the right supporting cast around her, her lack of speed may not be as much of an issue.

The thing with those beds is that they are so narrow. If you are used to sleeping in a full or a queen and then move into that skinny college bed, it can be easy to fall out since you are used to being able to have some room to move around. The lofts I have seen are adjustable so you can be pretty close to the ceiling (too close in my opinion, I'm claustrophobic), or normal bed height, and then everything in between. A lot of kids put them up pretty high so they can have a futon and a fridge underneath since the traditional dorm rooms are so small. I am surprised NU doesn't put the athletes in the apartment style dorms like other colleges do. Those usually have one person per bedroom and then a shared common space and bathroom. No need to have a loft since you have the bedroom all to yourself.

Nope, not my daughter but a good friend of hers.

Interesting. I know another freshman athlete that fell out of her bunk and suffered a bad concussion first semester. Those things are dangerous!

Jess was possessed today. Our girls had the attitude that they were not going to lose this game.
-
How in the world are we not up by 30 in this game? Illinois is TERRIBLE!! Turnovers I guess.
-
And I'm happy to see Theriot still has some fire in her!
