Sounds as if she wants to be back on the court by the Holdrege game on Jan 22 or the Southwest Conference tourney the following week after breaking her wrist last November. Minden could sure use her, they're 6-5 now and had she been playing they could well have came out on the winning side in 4 of the 5 losses. As of now she still intends to announce her choice of school this summer. Don't know who her top 2 or 3 teams are, but ILL only had 100 (maybe) attendance last game. Surely she doesn't want to play in an empty gym her whole career? But playing with her sister? Just make the call Ms Kissinger for NU and end all the mystery. We sure would like it ...and she'd make a great tandem shooter with Mitchell for the future. Kissinger was at the game yesterday, of course. A decent Minden contingent showed up in support of Brooke. Some of them wore red. Most I talked to were saying they were cheering for the Huskers and Brooke. Taylor was on the floor after the game talking to Yori. One of the Minden folks said they didn't know if Taylor was going to Nebraska, but she wasn't going to Illinois. But apparently she likes Nebraska, and the family is aware of the travel burdens when someone is playing a considerable distance away. I was watching the Shelby contingent too. Looked like they were there to support White but indiscreetly rooting for the Huskers! Too bad - they could have been cheering for one and the same. I have to think if they had a do-over, they would not have picked Illinois. Maybe not Nebraska either, but definitely not Illinois.

Might want to keep an eye on Payton Brotzki from Plattview. Believe she is just a sophomore this year. I saw her play several times in middle school and she impressed me. Her father was (maybe still is) a coach and I think she understands the game. Had she not torn her ACL last season, I think Plattview would have been in the class B state championship game. She's doing quite well this year. Would be a shame if she went to Illinois (although I would say that for anyone considering Illinois). I was the one that questioned Kissinger's foot speed. But perhaps with the right supporting cast around her, her lack of speed may not be as much of an issue.

The thing with those beds is that they are so narrow. If you are used to sleeping in a full or a queen and then move into that skinny college bed, it can be easy to fall out since you are used to being able to have some room to move around. The lofts I have seen are adjustable so you can be pretty close to the ceiling (too close in my opinion, I'm claustrophobic), or normal bed height, and then everything in between. A lot of kids put them up pretty high so they can have a futon and a fridge underneath since the traditional dorm rooms are so small. I am surprised NU doesn't put the athletes in the apartment style dorms like other colleges do. Those usually have one person per bedroom and then a shared common space and bathroom. No need to have a loft since you have the bedroom all to yourself.

Nope, not my daughter but a good friend of hers.

Interesting. I know another freshman athlete that fell out of her bunk and suffered a bad concussion first semester. Those things are dangerous!

Jess was possessed today. Our girls had the attitude that they were not going to lose this game.

How in the world are we not up by 30 in this game? Illinois is TERRIBLE!! Turnovers I guess.

And I'm happy to see Theriot still has some fire in her!

BEAUTIFUL SCREEN BY HAVERS!!!!!

I thought you were joking but now that I've watched the first quarter in TV and have seen Illinois travel multiple times on several possessions with no calls, I see you were NOT joking.

I think by the time they are seniors we are going to look at RB43, Shepard, and Simon and say they are the best recruiting class so far.
-
I still think it would help if Jess would take a few 10 foot shots. She's perfectly capable of knocking down some 3s as well. Due to the conditioning she missed out on this year, I suspect she will take a big leap between freshman and sophomore years for the Huskers.

RB43 makes the baskets she is supposed to make. I don't think I've seen her miss a bunny yet (maybe she has, but I can't think of one off the top of my head). She doesn't hesitate to shoot. I remember Sample would sometimes aggravate me by not taking a wide open shot in the lane, or completely missing a bunny, but her defense was stellar. I think RB43 is solid on offense and doesn't need to be a 15 point per game player. Her defense may not be as good as Sample, not yet anyway, but as she continues to develop her defense will be even stronger. Her motor is unmatched on the court right now.

I have also felt like there has been some selfish play. Several times in the past few games we have had someone open on the arc and instead of passing to them, we try to drive or toss up a somewhat wild shot. I've seen Maddie, Kyndal, Emily, and Natalie open. Jazz was open once or twice last night, too. Thought Jazz and Maddie played well. It was good to see. Just seemed like they were getting after it a bit better last night.

We need athleticism at all positions. Simon is the most athletic we have.
-
I think we may wind up having a season like Lindsey Moore's second season.
-
I think we have made all of our free throws tonight.
-
We hung with UConn better than this.

I told my daughter at halftime I'd like to see Romeo, Simon, and Cincore on the floor together. They seem to be more aggressive. And Anya and RB43 are scrapping. I'd leave that group out there a while and see how they do.
-
Does anyone ever jump up to try to grab the ball or knock it out of the way on defense anymore? Is that not a thing anymore? Or do we have too many knee/ankle/toe injuries to do that? I've seen several instances in the past few games where a pass easily could have at least been deflected and we made no effort to do so.
-
I really hope that's not the case. But if it is, then let Romeo bring the ball up and give the younger players the opportunity.
-
I thought Cincore did well while she was in the game. A couple of free throws and two assists.

Does anyone actually attend Maryland games? Top 10 team but hardly anyone there.
