  1. He meant a 3-year deal to give him 5 total. If nothing is done, Miles will have two years left on his contract.
  2. I dunno. Most of those guys transferred to mid-major or low-major programs more suited to their level of play. Hammond, for example, is a nice DII center who averaged 8 and 6 this season. Big Ten was too big a stage. I'm intrigued to see Morrow and Jacobson next season for Marquette and Iowa State tho.
  3. Usually the coaches know most or all roster attrition issues after spring break in hoops. Usually. (Andrew White was a different deal.) Over the years: Fuller - March 13 Horne - March 15 J. Shepard (women) - March 27 Hammond - March 29 Morrow - March 30 T. Smith - March 31 Hawkins, Vucetic - April 2 Jacobson - April 10 Evelyn - April 12
  4. The last contract extension he got was in 2015, right around April/May. Then he didn't get after the 2016 or 2017 seasons. So right now his contract runs out March 31, 2020. "Standard" would be March 31, 2023. That's in Lee's story: http://www.omaha.com/huskers/plus/nebraska-a-d-bill-moos-squashes-dana-altman-rumors-talks/article_4a74e84e-0486-555d-9611-38ad5b07a9d3.html
  5. I do not see the connection between wanting to retain Callahan and/or Riley and desiring Miles be let go.
  6. I’m confused. Was your original post about Pelini and Solich? I read it as being about winning basketball coaches - this being a basketball board - which is why the connection to Callahan and Riley seemed odd. At any rate, Solich and Pelini have nothing to do with Tim Miles.
  7. I think Evelyn would have. It would not surprise me to see Evelyn back at a major program after he graduates from Valpo.
  8. Maric is the only reason Nebraska was in position for the NCAA Tournament. But I figured, y’know, not everybody would know that turnover.
  9. They are? Bill Callahan was fired in 2007. I don't recall anyone wanting Doc Sadler axed after going 20-13 in year two. (And basically finishing one Aleks Maric mid court turnover at Texas from making the NCAA Tournament.)
  10. 1, 4, 8, 9 and 10 have all been fired. Connie as we all know resigned for reasons unrelated to the W-L ledger. Miles' record is most like Mark Fox, the profile that received the least amount of votes. Fox, just fired, finished 163-133, with 2 NCAA (0-2) and 3 NITs in 9 seasons. When I originally posted it, I did so really as a kind of test on fan expectations - what fans say their expectations are and what they actually are based on their actions. (Going to games, message board postings, tweets, letters to editors, etc.)
  11. I have a hunch Nebraska will be a 9 seed, and if it wins, it'll play No. 1 seeded Notre Dame.
  12. Oh, I dunno if that's quite the same - Nebraska would have 5000 fans there - but it'd be nice to draw the non-mid major team, yes. But I'm guessing USC isn't coming all the way out here to play Missouri State in the first game, and Texas Tech, as the best team, wouldn't get paired with the Bears.
  13. About the only scheduling thought I could provide is: Stop allowing the tournament to pair you with the team host. Losses to Hawaii and UCF both stung in their respective years, and it got Doc one year too.
  14. Fans generally set expectations. Well, initially, administrators and bigger boosters do, but rank-and-file fans shape those over time. I think consistent 20-win seasons - some of which would end in NCAA bids, some of which wouldn't - would be heartily embraced round these parts.
  15. That ain’t me, man. On that site (Huskers Illustrated) I just go by my name. Sam I am is a dude out of Vegas.
  16. Teammates don't get you a scholarship, though. I'm not defending it. But I feel like it's reached the point where, if my kid wanted to play HS basketball or softball or volleyball, we'd have to sign her up for club teams that go all summer in order to make it happen. Otherwise, not happening. Too many parents with the money and resources to do it, and the HS coaches rely on the club teams to tell them what's what. How often is a HS hoops coach, for example, surprised in a freshman tryout? Don't they know all of the best players already in the gym before they walk in? Maybe they don't.
  17. I can't say I know, really, but can you play on most HS teams at this point without playing high level club basketball?
  18. I think Nebraska can still make it. I don't see Rutgers being out. But I think you can look at USC's resume and pick Nebraska over that. And I don't think Dayton's a lock, although I'm guessing its frequency in the NCAA Tournament is part of its resume (though it shouldn't be.) A scenario where Rutgers is in and Nebraska will sting. The Big Ten - which stunningly has no one on the selection committee - should desire to reward the better (by far) league team. When you're four games and six seeds clear of a team, the Big Ten should offer a preference there.
  19. Who's saying Miles will be or should be let go? Three people on Twitter? Two people on a message board? There is no momentum for this.
  20. I've read some over time. It's great, it's exhaustive, and it's pretty consistently hilarious.
  21. The tourney. Big help in 2019 recruiting.
  22. Gotta be able to get 6-8 points per game with a guard just taking somebody off the dribble or gutting a defense down the middle of the lane. It’s really been an issue all year, but Nebraska’s been able to play around it through good scouting reports and outcoaching/playing the opponent. They’re still working on developing the skill of turning the corner or slicing up a D off the dribble. There’s no Moore or T or Theriot on this roster (yet) who just naturally makes those plays over and over, game after game. Which is why they talk about D so much. They can control it, they have good athletes and an elite shot blocker. They’re a tough nut to crack on D.
  23. That former player just gets way too much blame from fans. And she's playing quite well for her new team (Which, I assure you, doesn't have a bunch of malcontents in the program.)
  24. As someone who voted last year, I'll say this: The poll doesn't move much at the bottom, and once you get in the top 15 or so, you may stay in the top 25 many weeks beyond what you should. The 2014-2015 team stayed ranked almost all of the season, even well after Theriot went down. It's not the primary beat for many of us. Which is why I did it the one year and decided not to do it again.
