  1. A bit of a risky move. Then again, it is Keisei.
  2. Their #1 recruit. If there is a silver lining, his departure brings them to their scholarship limit.
  3. Just a simple observation. Yes, some players simply can't or won't play defense. But there is also a possibility that a player is not being coached properly, or his coaches and fellow players don't motivate a player to defend. Many will say Keisei did not defend well. Where was Keisei located for long periods of time in certain games last year? His ass was planted on the bench. That said, more often than not, he was on the court working hard and appeared to really try being a pest. So I personally will not yet look at any of the history's of our players in other programs. Instead, I will wait to see how the players react to the defensive philosophies and techniques that our coaching staff teaches. Perhaps we will like the results we will see.
  4. You want length? How about this as a lineup: PG - Williams SG - Griffiths Wing - Juwan PF - Berke C - Meah
  5. I think he has the potential, yes. I also think he would be worth the risk. Much depends on his willingness to sit and develop for a year? That said, his sister is a pretty gifted softball player
  6. It is very hard to choose a lineup or even a rotation until I see the team and how they develop throughout the off-season. Then you have chemistry and leadership roles that play into the equation. We have two players that we all can agree as likely starters. They are Juwan and Brice. With the remaining roster, there is a ton of potential. How hard will the individuals work to turn potential to production? I am amped because recent history tells us that the current staff seems to understand when and how to push the right buttons. Heck, Uhlis has been tutored by this staff for a year now, and has his reputation to gain back. One would think that he should be exponentially better than what we saw of him at Iowa. I can clearly imagine that Sam's shot has improved. Tied to his hustle and big play ability, he should also be in the mix for rotational minutes...and on and on.
  7. We have one open scholarship.
  8. Seemingly, another advantage he has for playing time is his size. He appears to have good strength for an incoming freshman that goes well with his basketball IQ and skills. The only thing that may hold him back is the talent/experience ahead of him.
  9. Although much less likely now, let's not completely shut our minds to Trevon Brazile.
  10. Yeah, their record reflects that...

  12. Doubters! Very good pick up...and a lefty to boot.
  13. Old news...that said, welcome to Nebraska Berke. You can now make history!
  14. I wonder if the athletes that are being recruited to BYU are told the whole story. Maybe so. Maybe all colleges have the same, or similar student codes? Absolutely nothing wrong with requirements such as these, as long as the students are aware of the rules going in. https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fimgv2-2-f.scribdassets.com%2Fimg%2Fdocument%2F357660069%2Foriginal%2F1c461c6c7c%2F1714230641%3Fv%3D1&tbnid=ifgGpz9JpP4V6M&vet=1&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.scribd.com%2Fdocument%2F357660069%2FChurch-Educational-System-Honor-Code&docid=xw-sKVD9CYozUM&w=768&h=1024&source=sh%2Fx%2Fim%2Fm1%2F6&kgs=8e157e8cfa7010da&shem=abme%2Cssic%2Ctrie https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fi0.wp.com%2Fwasmormon.org%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2021%2F04%2Fbyu-honor-code-jesus-logo.jpeg%3Fresize%3D640%2C635%26ssl%3D1&tbnid=0BLmNOprtI5pwM&vet=1&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwasmormon.org%2Fbyu-honor-code-dress-and-grooming-standards-mormon-facial-hair%2F&docid=NJJs4E8IWnlMAM&w=640&h=635&source=sh%2Fx%2Fim%2Fm1%2F6&kgs=fedaed7540ea569d&shem=abme%2Cssic%2Ctrie
  15. I don't know, seems to me that Billie should have been able to handle that jump and swim.
  16. BYU loses one???
  17. Here is a start. Alleviate contact. If you call some contact; but not all contact, it creates controversy for the referees. Soon, players will understand and adjust their games. Secondly, review the rule book. Remove all rules that will not be enforced. Any rules left, enforce them. Point being, the inconsistancy of calls create the issues. The timing of calls create issues. Non-calls create issues. Next, remove the human element from the equation where possible. Officiating at any level and in any sport is a thankless job. Most officials are competent and strive to do the right thing. And oh yeah...players and coaches need to shut the f*** up. All calls are not wrong. The constant complaining ruins the flow and joy that a game should bring.
  18. I've come to understand and accept that college basketball recruiting (both men's and women's) has dramatically changed. Yes a battle seems to have been lost, but the war is far from over. For example, it seems we are now seeing foreign born players finally finding landing spots. There are still portal athletes and JUCO players and a plethora of high school juniors and seniors available. Obviously some better than others. So although I am concerned about front court depth (both men's and women's) it is too early to throw in the towel.
  19. ...and another foreign born player commits, this time Illinois gets a top rated 6'6" guard from Lithuania. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/40233577/source-lithuania-kasparas-jakucionis-commits-illinois
  20. Chuck, I don't have answers to your questions per se; but those questions apply to many aspects of life. For example, why have traffic rules, as they are broken nearly every day, by nearly everyone? And damn the police for their audacity of stopping just me, when everyone is breaking them and not getting caught??? Without rules, you have chaos; which is what we seemingly have now. It appears that college will now have pro sports. Soon, high school administrators will face the same issues. Somehow, parameters, regulations and rules need to be established. The new college reality is here. Workers Compensation, employment laws and so forth are now in play. Man, this will be an interesting ride.
