  1. I thought coming in Utah might be one of the best teams in the PAC. At the very least underrated. Lets hope they cool off a bit.
  2. Would love to have Charlie's gig. Easy money. Occasionally write about actual games, have everyone tweet and link his bracket projections a couple weeks into the season, then constantly throughout the year. Nothing at all wrong with that, just saying I'm Husker red with envy.
  3. Yes. Bon Jovi needs to stay in the 80's where they belong. Use something the kids think is cool. But what a fun game to watch and everything else about the event was epic.
  4. Finally able to listen again...missed almost entire thing. DVR'd it though so my Friday night is now planned. In addition to catching the mens game of course. GBR!
  5. I was busy the whole first half. Sounds like JHoop got warmed up.
  6. Excited to see this. Have the DVR set at home. Will listen to Matt/Jeff from work. Go Huskers!
  7. Ty Row6, enjoyed seeing Jeff in one of these. Just going to post a pic from last Saturday here of the team when they were at the Northwestern game. Wanted to chase them down in the tunnel for a pic but maybe next time. Unbelievable game to be at and it made me really happy with the applause the women's team got.
  8. Hoping someone was there from the board. Would be interested in hearing what you think. Especially how did Theriot look.
  9. I hope JHoop drops 50 on them.
  10. Thanks for the link Row6Seat10. Watched Yori and Miles, thought both were great.
  11. Just a bump FYI Chelsea evidently had so much fun she chose not to retire. So both her and Kelsey are back in Bendigo for 2013/2014 looking to defend their WNBL crown.
  12. Tvrdy really looked strong today. Matt and Jeff were talking about how hard she hit the weights over the summer. She looked calm and under control. And like Bugeaters said, great control going to the hoop. Simon looked improved. I think Sample worked on her shot. Hoop was Hoop. Cady was great. Brandi Jeffery was outstanding. She might just be my player of the game. Huskers need some work on D but really nice debut here by the newbs. Havers is going to be special folks.
  13. Nebraska 8 Pitt 2 @ 16:45 Havers in off the bench in last two trips down the court. On D, nice deny down low for the steal. Hustles down the court to get offensive rebound, put back. Next trip down the floor offensive board off miss. She's long and puts herself in good position.
  14. This is the women's team don't forget. True, but if women's volleyball can become a premiere sport, why not women's hoops? Program has been successful enough to earn some respect from Nebraska Athletics. Support it...not like they don't have the resources. /shrug I would agree hoop_head but it just seems women's sports in general don't get the respect that the mens sports do. I have friends that just have no desire to watch a women's BB game. They say to may turnovers etc. etc. etc. Too many turnovers? If you ran the stats I'd guess the difference is minute. Yori's teams are solid fundamentally and play a fun brand of basketball. What my experience is that your friends might as well say "I don't want to get made fun of for caring about women's hoops". But they don't say that out loud because they're Husker fans. Meanwhile, no problem discussing volleyball on various Husker forums. I'm not speaking for your friends, but just the average Husker football fan. It will help if Miles can get the men's team back from the cellar. That way, no shame in supporting both. Seriously, that alone would increase women's attendance by 1/4 at least, more as time goes on. The reason I like the women's game is that it is played more like it was meant to be played with finesse and fundamentals. The turnovers like 20 from one team type of thing. /high five I'm right there with ya.

  17. Thanks caveman. I was really hoping they might put it on video stream like the men's was, so it's nice to hear from folks that were there.
  18. Bober was 6'4". There's been a few at 6'4" ...Bober's teammate Jess Periago was I think 6'4" also. Hitting 15 foot jumpers, and looking good doing it, is a good sign. I'm getting really excited for the season to start.
  19. So is Havers the tallest player Yori has had at Nebraska? I cannot remember any other player listed at 6'5". Saw this quote in the LJS from Coach Yori. “She’s a 6-5 kid who’s a little bit on the thin side,” Yori said. “She’s going to be one of our backup post players. She’s already made a huge jump in the weeks we’ve been practicing. She’s a lot like an Emily and Jordan (Hooper) in that they are kids that have size but aren’t that thick. Allie does have a pretty good inside game. She’s our best low-post scorer and I think she’ll help us.” http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/womens-basketball/nu-women-have-tough-breaks/article_92528786-2c74-5d55-8972-416c9de8e7bd.html Now she's still listed as F but this certainly helps to have a larger body if needed in certain match ups. Anyone go to the Big Red Tip-Off? Please tell me what you think. I'm assuming there was some 5 vs. 5 going on.
  20. Wow ...Minnesota is mediocre in both sports. Hurray. Success in both followed by scandal. Also, what is a hack Bleacher Report columnist from Northwestern doing on Wall Street Journal?
  21. If you didn't watch this...do so. Jordan played awesome in the semi and even better in the final. After the semi, you could see why Coach Coale decided to start JHoop. Watched both the semi vs. the Aussies and the final vs. the Russians. Fantastic games.
  22. Thanks Fastbreaker, I'll plan on catching that. Didn't want to necro the Kelsey and Chelsea thread, but the WNBL grand final game was posted recently. I believe this was Chelsea Aubry's last game she'll play professionally (according to one of her interviews). She played a great and KG23 was MVP of the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt7PtdsbNpE
  23. Had a lot of fun watching these Seniors over the years. Congratulations to them. Was fun to watch this teams run this season. Like the prez, I picked them into the Elite Eight, and it really could have been there were it not for the lids on the baskets. Go Huskers!
  24. I'd say the Huskers tenacity deserves credit for loss of heart sir.
