HHCC Game #02 - vs. Sam Houston (Nov. 12, 7:30 PM CST)

Nebraska 80 Sam Houston 65 I got to believe Fred is going to get it turned around. This team is too talented to be a 7 win team. -

A silver lining I was trying to think about. I remember an Iowa State team beat a Division 2 team in OT their 1st game. I looked it up and it was in 2000 - 01, they beat Morningside 102 - 97 in OT. They went on to make the NCAA tournament as a 2 seed. In Nebraska fashion they lose in the 1st round to Hampton. But, I will take an NCAA tournament trip this year. I don't see it happening. -

Here's another stat. Western Illinois was 7 - 31 from 3 in the first 39:40, and 2 - 2 from like 25 feet in the last 0:20. Ohio State is ranked 17th, they find a way to beat Akron on a last second shot. We have a 4 point lead with 0:20 to go against Western Illinois and lose. That's Nebrasketball in a nutshell. Nights like tonight make me think we are never winning that NCAA tournament game in my lifetime. -

I had my top 2 wisdom teeth pulled today. I don't know what was more excruciating, the teeth or watching the ending of that game? -

The sad part, is that we saw more effort and focus in the EXHIBITION games. Can someone please tell me why that is the case? -

The first 39 minutes of the game. 21 - 25 from the free throw line. Last minute 2 - 6. Verge needs to stop dribbling the ball into the lane with nowhere to go. He attempted way more than 20 shots, and no way had 5 assists. Teams are going to crash the boards. So many bad things out of this game, it's hard to find a silver lining. My expectation was at least finish .500, but if we don't start moving the ball, this team will be lucky to reach 10 wins this year. -

That's some inaccurate stats. No way Verge had 5 assists. To get an assist you have to pass the ball. -

Verge and Bryce have dribbled into the lane far too many times, with nowhere to go. -

16 shot attempts is not good, though. Way, way, way too much dribbling by he and Verge tonight. Need to move the ball. -

Another stat that needs to get better. 3 assists on 14 makes. -

That's kind of good news. It means we will be 13 - 7 in Big 10, but go on the road in the NIT and lose to Colorado. -

Instead of the halftime shoot around. I think we should do rebounding drills the entire time. -

I did forget to mention we missed about 9 lay-ups, also. -

They have 16 second chance points on 12 offensive rebounds. The only reason it isn't 24 is because when they get an offensive rebound, they miss the shot, and get that rebound. -

I'm getting to celebrate everytime we get a rebound in conference play. -

Shooting 22 % from 3 will make it look that way. -

We better get better rebounding. That last play was an awful effort. We stood around looking at the ball while 2 Western Illinois guys went for the ball. -
I have some vacation time at work. Do you think they will take some help to finish out the season on the offensive side of the ball? My NCAA football team on Playstation was a dynamic offense with me.

Take pressure off of Martinez. We have talented enough RB's that they cannot run 18 times and Martinez 15 times. Trust Johnson, Yant, and Stepp more. Run Martinez at times. You are just asking for injuries to Martinez. I am not a Martinez hater and thinks he is very unfairly treated by fans. Up until the Minnesota game, he was one of the top QB's in the conference. Now, we learned he had an ankle injury going into the game. I knew something was up when he had negative yard output. I thought today he was every bit the equal of Stroud, who is most likely going to be 1st team All Big 10. I had to laugh a few times when Stroud missed a wide open Olave, and overthrew Olave by a hair another time. I was imagining Nebraska fans if that was Martinez. I don't think you can keep Frost. Today's the type of day when you think we are getting there. Then, you remember Illinois, Minnesota, and Purdue, and think this is not going to work. Trev is in a no win situation. He keeps Frost. The downfall is if he goes 6 - 6 next year, that really will not be enough improvement for me to give him a 6th year. You fire him and you piss off 80 % of the fan base, who think Frost is the savior. Me, personally, would move on from him. The 80 % would be on the fire side with any coach who didn't play here.

I wonder what the terms are. Do we still get charged if he finds a new job? Could we Bobby Bonilla the pay out, and spread it out over 10 years? That way it is $2 million per year. Could we get the NCAA to complete their investigation before Black Friday? Then, fire him with cause. A few things to look at.

Compare this : Some Florida fans want Mullen fired. Record in 4 years 33 - 13 with 3 New Year's day bowls Some Nebraska fans want to give Frost more time. Record in 4 years 15 - 26 with 0 bowl games

This all while your QB throws 1 interception in 1st half and 3 in 2nd half.
