They can replace Incarnate Word and Samford. -

Why did it take so long to start to play like this? We actually look competent in the 2nd half. -

A nice little run, now keep it going and don't let Rutgers have hope. This is a Rutgers team that can't shoot and can't defend. They have 2 players that are 4 of 5 from 3, they are normaly 31% 3 point shooters. -

Hammond has played well. Might be nice to have some fresh legs in the post tomorrow night and give Ed another day off. We just gotta make it there. I think Ed against Rutgers would be a guy that could dominate them. In fact, he has averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds against them in 2 games. -

Need to take control to start the 2nd half and put this game to bed. We are a better team. We have hit our last 2 3's (One by Tai, and one by White). Need to start draining some 3's. -

It doesn't seem like Rutgers is getting many calls when they attack the rim, either. One of the better officiated halves in a long time. Hopefully, these refs can string together another half. -

I hope it comes in the 2nd half. We just need to make a shot from outside, to get us going. -

We have no outside game right now. We are just throwing up bricks from the outside. -

Not so fun fact: Our lowest offensive output in conference prior to Shields' injury was 65 to Maryland. After Shields' injury we scored over that one time against Penn State, at home in our only win in that span. -

My preseason expectations was about 15 wins overall and 6 in conference. After the MSU win, I thought maybe 9 wins in conference. -

IMO, it needs to be up to the kids. I don't want to be known as the team that runs kids off. I don't think Miles wants to be known as that coach, either. At the end of the season, he will tell the players what they can expect. They probably won't get much playing time. Hammond's problem is off the court. He was playing well early in the season until he had to take care of a personal matter (I'm assuming academics). If he got 25 minutes, and kept his pace, he would average 5.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Add to that 1.4 blocks, he would be what we need, a decent player that could clean the glass. Even if we get Jordy, he is not going to give us much more than that during his freshman year. -
Well, timing isn't his strong suit. The Omaha World-Herald did previews for the Summit League Baseball (UNO), Big East Baseball (Creighton) and Big Ten baseball (Nebraska). They do these on 3 different days. So, the Big 10 Preview comes up and Shatel has an article about Creighton baseball in their new league. I was not very pleased. If you want to get on your knees for Creighton baseball, then do it on the day of Big East baseball Preview.

Purdue (22-7) Vs. Nebraska (14-15) Game Thread
brfrad replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Actually the reason we got back into it was because Hass, Swanigan, and Hammonds had 2 fouls each. We were able to get inside, and guard them. Why would we go to a 2-3 zone without those guys in there? It would be stupid. In order to press you have to make shots, and we look like we never shot the ball before. We are in a shooting funk. It started when White injured his shoulder. -

We did nothing we needed to do to win this game. We couldn't shoot. We couldn't stop them. We couldn't force turnovers. -

The difference is the 3 point line. We are 3-12 and they are 7-15. -

We get it cut to 8, and then we leave their top 2 3 point shooters wide open, and it is all of a sudden 14 points. -

Except when Hammonds comes from behind and knocks Morrow down on a rebound, and then Tai goes up for a rebound and gets hammered they call him for a travel. -

Most definitely. We've got to find a way to get early fouls on their bigs in the second half. That's going to be impossible. These refs will make sure to protect them in the 2nd half. Do you really think this? The refs have a conspiracy against Nebraska? If so, why the hell do you still watch? They don't actually. I was trying reverse psychology, so that if I see a call that doesn't go our way, it might keep my blood pressure from spiking. -

How does a player wave his index finger at a ref, and not get a technical foul? The time the ball bounced off him, and the refs gave the ball to Nebraska, the camera shows him waving his index finger at the ref. I will give the ref the benefit of the doubt, that he didn't see it. -

Can someone explain to me how the ref calls a foul on Morrow? I understand he was in the air, but if that's a foul, then when they undercut Morrow on the inbound pass is a foul, too!!! -

A make-up call for that foul call on Watson. I thought in order to get called for a foul, you had to touch the other team's player. -

Can somebody make a shot? We look dreadful shooting the ball. 3 of 16 from the floor. That is terrible. -

We need to make our shots. This shooting funk continues. We were one of the leaders in conference games in field goal percentage before Shields went down.
