  1. Actually, appears they beat Ukraine. Which, poor Ukraine, I have to think the Russians are behind this. Yeah, my bad. The picture in the article I copied-and-pasted from had a picture of a Turkish player.
  2. NZ beat Turkey today 73-61. Tai Webster, a rising sophomore guard for Nebraska, finished with eight points, seven boards and three assists for the Kiwis.
  3. I clicked on Morrow's Rivals page and noticed one of his "similar forwards" was Justin Patton. I found that interesting.
  4. This one feels like a long shot for us, but with the power of Miles anything is possible.
  5. Why would you want to wake up?
  6. So, is Watson the highest rated Huskers recruit in the "Rivals" and "Scout" era? I'm not counting AW3 since he's a transfer.
  7. I hope some of his scoring ability rubbed off on Glynn.
  8. Coffee is for closers. Someone get Miles some damn coffee!
  9. Was lurking at an Illinois message board, and they're very complimentary of Watson as a player, even though Illinois never showed much interest. Groce, apparently, prefers combo guards and they're in on the top two point guards in the nation. The posters seem to question Watson's athleticism and shooting ability, but really liked his ability to be a true point guard.
  10. Tick... Tick... Tick... BOOM!
  11. Well, BR hasn't tweeted yet, so... Tick... Tick... Tick...
  12. Full stats are here: http://www.fiba.com/basketballworldcup/2014/3008/New-ZealandvTurkey#|tab=boxscore_statistics Thanks!
  13. Anyone have his stats from today's game?
  14. Interesting choice...
  15. Tick ... tick ... tick ...
  16. I don't think it should be any surprise. Petteway was a first-team all-B1G player last year. He's likely close to his ceiling (and it's a damn high ceiling). Tai, on the other hand, was a black hole offensively last year, so it should be quite easy for him to show significant improvement.
  17. I believe that was a Rivals write-up he was quoting.
  18. It's definitely strange. It happens, though. Anthony Davis went from a nobody to the No. 1 recruit in the country in the blink of an eye. Not apples to apples. He was a 6'4'' sophomore that blossomed to a 6'10'' senior that had the handles of a guard and the post moves to match. Patton has been this height for over a year now and didnt put up nearly the same number Davis did even as a 6'4'' guard in HS let alone when he was a dominating center. Sure, it's not apples to apples, but that's not really the point. Weird things like this happen from time to time. Guards get crazy growth spurts and become stud big men (Anthony Davis, David Robinson). Some bigs develop late because their coordination is slow to catch up to their frame. Some slip through the cracks because you assume academically it's not going to work out. Sometimes it's a combination of all of the above. It stinks that it happened in our back yard, but these things happen in recruiting. Sometimes it's all about timing.

  20. It pretty much has to be Tai, no? The rest of the players are relatively close to being finished products. Pitchford would be my runner-up, for what it's worth.
  21. This is all we are waiting for. And a tweet from BR. Watson is on board. If he's committing during/after his visit, people don't need to look for cannon fire until Saturday. I think most people know he's visiting this weekend but wanted to bring it up again if you missed. Yup, I should have added that to my post. Should be a great weekend. Any chance Morrow joins him this weekend? Would make for a sonic boom.
  22. Just waiting for the "Boom."

  24. I believe it was Purdue against AJ Hammons.
  25. A lot of these already have been mentioned, but I'll add my two cents anyway... 1) Less stupid fouls. I'm sure a lot of fans feel this way about their teams, but I think we led the nation in dumb fouls 30 feet from the hoop. 2) More assists. We made a lot of really hard shots last season. Hopefully having a true PG on the floor will lead to more open shots and easy layups. 3) Swagger. We have a confident group of players that know they can win in a difficult league. Early last year we had a group of players that didn't know how to fit together. As the season wore on, people accepted their roles and we turned into a dangerous team. 4) Rim protection. Ayegba probably is a 20-minute player if we're fortunate, but that should be plenty. Having him and Pitchford gives us an athletic front line, and should give Pitchford a little break from getting pounded on the block. 5) Home crowd. We had a really good home-court advantage, but it was taken to a whole new level for the Wisconsin game. Can we expect to be at 80-85 percent of that for big non-conference games and B1G games? If we can have that intimidating home court all year, wow.
