Four games I think we could and should have won: Creighton Incarnate Word Hawaii Indiana If we win those, our record would be 17-5 (6-4) and people would most definitely not be bitching about how our season is going right now. There's a lot of angst on this board about how this season is a disappointment. Those games were all before January 1 and I think we were just in a funk about trying to live up to the expectation of being a top 25 team and playing too damn tight. Plus having injuries to a couple of important players. I'm not making excuses. I'm just offering this for perspective. Yes we lost those early games. But the team that took the floor last night looked a lot more like the team that danced last March than the team that stubbed its toe in December. Four games are a lot to hypothetically change. And I'd say we more than stubbed our toe in the non-conference. We shot ourselves in the foot and took a couple of toes off with it!

As expected, that Rhode Island loss isn't too bad. They're sitting at 15-5 and 7-2 in the A10. They're 10-2 over their past 12.

I wouldn't call you a downer at all. It's being realistic. When we played Creighton, they weren't as bad as they are now due to injuries and such, but I still can't fathom losing to a team like Incarnate Word. I just can't.

Just another reason to be irate for losing to the likes of Hawaii and especially Incarnate Word. Unacceptable.

It's funny that you quoted that article because I know the reporter really well. I just chatted with him and he said he was really impressed with his midrange game and that he's quite crafty. Thinks he'll be a nice stretch-4, but he needs to get a lot stronger if he wants to finish around the rim in the B1G.

Agree with a lot of what's written here: We play unwatchable basketball. It's a combination of the brand of basketball and the execution (or lack thereof). Sometimes it looks like we have zero idea on how to break a defense down. Then to compound things, we take awful shots or commit the dumbest turnovers. Even our wins are ugly on the eyes. I know the name of the game is to win, but is it too much to ask that we play smart and well offensively? Maybe so with this group. We're basically playing 2-on-5 offensively. Sometimes, when Walter shows up, we're up to 3-on-5.

Yup.

I know people have said the effort was good, but I disagree. While we worked hard defensively, we didn't compete at all offensively. That's not scouting the box score or simply looking at point totals, but we have no fight on offense. We had no clue how to attack, and we were incredibly soft with the basketball. I'm at a loss right now. I can't believe how awful we look offensively, and it goes beyond making open jump shots. We make dumb passes. We run the clock down with passive passing around the 3-point line. We're soft with the ball when dribbling to the middle of the defense. It's just awful to watch.

Another waste of two hours. At least Tai showed a pulse I guess.
