In other words, you're saying he is not the second coming of Magic Johnson? I seem to remember a rumor that he would be a high draft choice in the NBA next year. Was that some sort of fake news or what?

Coffeyville trivia: 1. My brother began his brief career as a left handed pitcher at Coffeyville JUCO. 2. I once bought a postcard there featuring the bodies of the Dalton gang laid out after they had been massacred in Coffeyville in 1892. 3. Walter Johnson was born there. The Big Train had a somewhat longer career than my bro.

Maybe he can now afford to wear some socks.

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! Break out the bagpipes, lads, and release the Kraken. We won a league game and now believe in miracles! -
We're all disappointed. But remember Pat Chambers had a "ten year plan" which eventually worked out (sort of) before his "sweet dreams and flying machines were pieces on the ground". And I don't think anyone will dispute the fact that the last two years have been unusual ones in which to build a new program. I see no reason not to be glass-half-full for another couple of years since there is no evidence anyone else available would be a better choice (although Chambers is now on the list).
-
Crap, with this projection I have no basis for a "cut of the jib" choice. Too bad Pat Chambers was booted from Penn State. As far as I can tell, Ferry was chosen from among the group of cardboard fans in the seats.

Anyone with some pandemic time to kill between games might like to check out this book unless you happen to be a Yankee fan. Review: Lee book is many great stories | Book Reviews and News | journalstar.com

Upon reading my earlier post in this thread implying we might meet Illinois in the first round of the Big Ten tourney, I shall revise my wish to recognize the scenario in which we meet the fifth seed in the opening round. This makes us more likely to meet Wisconsin, Rutgers or Iowa. Therefore my preferred upset choice would be Iowa, again based upon the cut of the coach's jib. Thanks for not pointing out how the tourney works with the first day byes. I'll chalk that up to post vaccine confusion.

I agree, HB, the board can be hilarious at times. I think the small cadre of daft individuals who follow Nebraska basketball have a vast reservoir of pent-up rage and angst developed over the years and have achieved their honorary degrees in self-flagellation and dark humor. We are all waiting for something (anything) to get us excited about our team. I understand the cardboard cutouts were going to rush the court if the infamous final shot had been made (or taken) last night. Anyway, as I have stated, now my modest goal for this year is to knock someone out of the Big Ten tourney. We will obviously be last. Our choices should be either Michigan, Ohio State or Illinois. I would choose to face Illinois again myself since I don't like the cut of their sourpuss coach's jib.

So close, but the end of regulation was...harrowing. If we keep playing like this I can visualize possibly attaining my new goal for this year; upsetting someone in the first game in Indianapolis. -

Again noting the trend of recent games : PSU-WLWLWL NU-LLLLLL. Thus, PSU 64, NU 59 -
brfrad: Mike Martz, Jason Glock, Chad Ideus are other Nebraska kids who played during the Nee years and I'm sure I am forgetting others. None were "program changers" but deserve mention.

HB is probably more of a Buck Rogers fan. Personally, I was more into Jules Verne.

Back from the Pinnacle. It proved to be a real shot in the arm, so hopefully the game tonight will turn out to be the same for the basketball program. I thought I might be able to remain in one of the seats as a cardboard spectator but was a bit too meaty.
-
Doughn't be too hard on my spell check this morning. I'm just excited about going dougn to the Pinnacle to get vaccinated. Just hope I doughn't get exposed to the virus there.

At least we'll be playing to snap the opponent's winning streak tonight instead of helping to break their losing streak. Perhaps that will work. But I am doughtful.

Good to hear from you, Cip. I only hope that, like Freddie Kreuger, you will reappear from time to time. It will be mandatory if we win tonight though. -

A good measure of our progress since the league season began: Wisconsin 69, NU 54. I note a pattern over the last six games which may give a clue as well. Badgers: WLWLWL, Huskers: LLLLLL. -
This really makes you want to go "LLLL..."!

Sadly my original prediction was spot-on until I edited it today. Moral: Stop being wishy-washy!
