  1. Plead guilty, take the punishment, learn from the mistake, use better judgement in the future, move on. No point in compounding the problem by having the coach overreact. I'm not minimizing the potential dangers of consuming alcohol and driving but am simply being realistic about this incident. Many other individuals including head coaches, US senators, and presidents of the USA have had similar incidents and been able to persevere.
  2. "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds..." Ralph Waldo Emerson Maybe Ralph didn't shoot many hoops.
  3. With all the horrific news during this holiday season it is comforting to visit a website such as this and to follow sports in general where the biggest disaster is losing at a game which can be played by children. May everyone at HHC stay safe, be near to your loved ones, and be of good cheer.
  4. Thanks for the report, hhcscott, hope you take away a lot of nice memories from the old border town. I sure have some since El Paso was where I got married 43 years ago. Merry Christmas to all.
  5. Nice. Should make your trip memorable whatever the outcome tonight. Get back to me in about twenty years and let me know which pair is holding up the best.
  6. Avoid the barrios and the army base and they should be fine.
  7. Thank god hhcscott didn't find a runza stand and can report on the game tomorrow. I had forgotten to warn him that the combination of the bean burrito and the runza has been proven to cause that rare phenomena known as spontaneous human combustion.
  8. Question for hhcscott: Back in the day when I used to watch Nate Archbald at the downtown civic center, they used to serve the best bean burritos at the games. Be sure to have one on me if they still make them. And make your wife have one too to balance out the hotel room tonight.
  9. Wow, this computer posts so slowly the game will probably be over before anyone reads this. Guess I had better go listen to the word picture now since I had thought the game started at ten.
  10. I think a unicycle would have been even more impressive.
  11. hhscott: Tell your wife that my Tony Lamas lasted more than twenty years and were worn lots. I used to have a poncho like my avatar wore in his spaghetti westerns and wear them together. My own wife, who once talked to Clint for a few minutes, disposed of both items when I began to resemble Jack Elam more than Clint. (I'm making none of this up)
  12. Sort of reminds me of my college days when freshmen were ineligible. The freshman team with JoJo White and Ron Franz would beat the varsity so badly that the KU coach (Ted Owens) stopped letting them play each other.
  13. Check out the view from Skyline drive after dark if you have time. And do not , repeat DO NOT, plan to see the sights in Juarez while you are there.
  14. Tony Lamas are the best.
  15. Neubert played in the NFL for both the Jets and the Eagles, so he must have impressed somebody.
  16. You are right, Dale, maybe we'll just get lucky.
  17. UTEP 91 Oregon 84 3OT We will not win two in El Paso.
  18. I just hope nobody decides to check out Juarez while they are down there or else they may end up without anything to place the sombrero upon. Too bad since I spent lot of pleasant times over there back in the day.
  19. Nine wins more likely.
  20. Personally I would prefer to have a lot of small threads with titles to choose from than one very long one I have to scroll through for an hour since my computer loads so slowly now. But that is just me. At least I didn't start a thread to make this point.
  21. Andre is not an obese, Fat Albert type guy but, short of a serious illness, we will not see him on the underside of 300 while he is playing here no matter what he eats. I'm sure Jurgey makes a valid point. The human knee is not designed to carry that much weight pounding up and down a hardwood floor and I have no problem with coach Miles sitting him for extended periods when he is not contributing to a victory.
