It's crunch time. We are currently in a 3-5 game season right now. Forget RPI. Forget the previous wins and losses. Nothing really matters. Sure, we can get some help from the bubble teams, but we really do control our postseason futures. And no, that's not including the "just win the Big Ten tournament." This season consists only of home and neutral games. You can either do your part to support the team or curl up into a ball and point fingers. The season starts tomorrow. Carry on, carry on.

Hopefully you don't have to remember "RPI" for much longer...

This might be one of those "let the chips all where they may" sort of games and then just win the ones we can control. I might get a headache if I try to figure out the best scenario here.

Same. Before the Illinois loss I was seeing this outcome as a fight for "Last Four Bye." After the loss, that same outcome is looking a lot more like a fight to "Last Four In." Not too much damage control to deal with. It just might mean we have an extra game to play.

Here's how I see it: Last Four Byes ACC x2 Last Four In Big 12 x2 First Four Out Pac-12 x3 Come conference tourney season, these are all teams that are in danger of dropping. This could be an interesting ride, folks!

Great news... we're still in the "Last Four Out". Not as bad of a drop as suspected. We still have a lot more work to do, but we're not far off from a play-in game. LET'S GET TO WORK! What a crummy weekend. Nearly all the bubble teams won their games, Nebraska women find themselves in a real tough bubble position, the men's team just did the same thing, the baseball team drops a 8-1 loss (although they did win 3 games), Penn State had a chance to punch their ticket, and the Big Ten went from a "maybe 6 teams" conference to a "well, maybe 4 or 5" conference. Try again on Tuesday.

If Penn State wins out after losing to Purdue, they would get the 5 seed (4th if we lose out).

I'm not sure what the right answer is, but curious on other people's thoughts. A Penn State win over Purdue would not only take a spot from us in the tournament, but they become a Tier 1 loss. Do we want Penn State to win this game?

I remember back in 2014 when we were on a 5-game winning streak and lost on the road in Illinois and everybody thought the world was going to end. Things seemed to work out in the end.

I'm not sure what the status of Miles' job has to do with anything right now. There's still a minimum of 3 more games to go this season. And you're saying his job lies in this Illinois game? Please.

I just had that strange realization that we just finished up a 6-game winning streak and Oklahoma is experiencing a 5-game losing streak and Kentucky just ended a 4-game losing streak. Yet we're in a more depressed state than either of those teams right now. Gotta keep our heads up, guys!

...or support the team when they're down.

Now THAT is the crucial point here. We need to focus on Tuesday more than ever. A loss here could mean Big Ten Finals territory.
