uneblinstu's postgame chatter : vol 17; ed 1 - UTRGV
big red22 replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I feel Ulis is our 8 man, because he is needed more than Sam and Meah -
Berkeley stood out the most to me. Moves really well and has a great stroke. Especially for a big man!
-
Look's like he is more like 6'3 to 6'4. He is the same height as Fred in that picture
-
Who is the odd man out for playing time this year... Worster Ulis Hoiberg Essegian Gary Williams Griffiths Berke Morgan Meah Is Janowski even have a chance at minutes without an injury? I honestly don't know, because I think they all are needed this year. We also know Fred will not be playing 10 players all year
-
I just feel SF is meant for lean tall (6'6 to 6'8) dudes with guard like skills. You know like Griffith, Gary and Williams. And a PF is meant for dude like Morgan and Bolis. Guys that are tall and built with less guard skills and more back to the basket skills. SG is for dudes with a similar skill set as the SF, but could be 6'3 to 6'6 and a bit quicker. Nothing is written in stone, but when thinking of how I'd like to fill the roster that is the ideal sizes and skill sets I'd look for at a D1 school.

Essentially or Essegianly?

While I think any rational basketball fan would agree with you. Having a true point guard is a big deal. My counter to that statement... I think what made us so good last year was how different we were to the norm. Mast was our main distributor IMO, and Morgan is not going to be that. I am not going to downplay any of the guys we picked up, because I haven't seen them work together. I also am not going to say what we got is better than Wilcher and Lawrence either. With all that said, we could be very good or back to our old ways next year. Rollie is the key, and if he is a good distributor I think Williams and Gary could be pretty dominant next year. Oddly enough I think we may be better from behind the arc than our past season, but we won't have the same energy Keisei brought. Just like football (on the field)... show me on the court. The off season is for dreamers, I need actual proof before I say a group is an upgrade or not. I guess I wish we waited a little bit, and pushed harder for Milicic. I think part of the reason he committed to Tennessee is Morgan was already committed. He was definitely more the style I think Fred likes than Morgan. Obviously Fred took Morgan and sees something I do not, and I am going hold my hopes on that.

Essegian at the 4... I really hope we never have to see that lineup
-
I see a lot of people with Essegian as the 3... I do not see him playing the 3 spot at all. He is definitely a 2 through and through IMO Starters Listed First () - minutes at that position 1 - Rollie(25)/Ulis(15)/Williams(Only gets minutes if there is foul trouble) 2 - Essegian(25)/Hoiberg(15)/Janowski(Redshirt or gets Hoibergs minutes) 3 - Williams(30)/Griffith(5)/Gary(5) 4 - Gary(30)/Griffith(10)/Morgan(Only gets minutes if there is foul trouble) 5 - Meah(20)/Morgan(20)

No Mast I see? Interesting
-
Worster is good at defense? I honestly did not know that.
-
Do we know thar? Blaise was injured the whole time he was here. So is he going to be a better inspirational cheerer of the team?
-
Honestly we need a rim protector, but he definitely was not the first man on the list. Minimal offensive threat make him the definition of a role player
-
Looks like we landed plan D
-
Meh
-
Can someone tell me why he didn't play this year after such a good freshman season?

So the kid from Iowa is a guarantee? One I don't feel all that great about that play
-
We need one more ball handling guard IMO
-
I sure hope we will still take Kyle and Milicic... nothing against him, because I know we need younger guys too. I just want to win next year
-
So basically you are saying we aren't getting Igor unless Mast doesn't come back. Igor seems like a more athletic version of Mast IMO. Morgan is definitely the most aggressive of the bunch, but as I said somewhere when he committed... Morgan needs to distribute the ball better to work in Hoibergs system
-
Milicic is 100% the perfect fit for Hoibergs offense, but I agree we only get one more Big and I would prefer Milicic over Morgan and Kyle

uneblinst's postgame chatter: vol 16; ed 33- Illinois
big red22 replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Look I am not going to blame the refs for the loss, but I am going to blame them for the change in game flow. - 55-40 17:28 Left - 10:15 Second mark the score was 66-63 - 10:15 Foul Count was 9 Fouls on Nebraska and 1 on Illinois - 10:15 Mark Juwan Gary got a away from the ball foul called on him for his 4th foul You can say Nebraska still had the lead and controlled their own destiny so the refs really did not control anything. Well how about momentum? How about personal? How about playing nervous, because you think your going to continue to get screwed? The game ended with Nebraska with 11 fouls and 9 on Illinois. Doesn't seem odd Nebraska gets 9 fouls called on them between the 17:28 mark and the 10:15 mark... you know the time during the run that Illinois made the game close? Then when the momentum shifted Illinois chipped away at the foul count. Big 10 refs are an ABSOLUTE JOKE -
I feel like the NET is trying to save face on moving Nebraska to 31. BPI is the only one that looks idiotic now
-
Nebraska is at 29 in the kenpom right now gained 3 spots
