  1. Correct....I wrote this up a few days ago and then they go and lose again last night... Good catch.
  2. Teams we WANT to win their Conference Tourney’s: MARCH 12-15 Big 12: Kansas, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Texas, (Maybe’s: Okie State, Baylor, KSU) (OSU, Baylor and KSU are probably safe, but I put them here..hope they lose early. MARCH 13-16 Big 10: Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State MARCH 12-16 ACC: Duke, Syracuse, Virginia, N. Carolina, (Maybe is Pittsburgh) (most others close are bubble) MARCH 12-15 Pac 12: Arizona, UCLA (maybe’s ASU, Stanford, California, Colorado or Oregon) MARCH 12-15 American: Cincinnati, Louisville, UCONN, Memphis (SMU is the “maybe”) MARCH 12-15 Big East: Creighton, Nova, Xavier(Xavier could become a "maybe"), (maybe’s would be GTown, St. John’s, Providence) MARCH 12-16 A-10: St. Louis, UMASS, VCU (maybe’s St. Joe’s G. Washington, Dayton) MARCH 12-16 SEC: Kentucky or Florida (maybe’s would be Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri) MARCH 12-15 Mountain West: San Diego State or New Mexico (maybe is UNLV) MARCH 6-9 MVC: Wichita State HAS to win this no other team even close to bubble MARCH 6-11 West Coast: Gonzaga (maybe is BYU) NOBODY else MARCH 4-11 Horizon: Green Bay NEEDS to win this (no other team on bubble and they could be still with loss) MARCH 11-15 Conference USA: Southern Miss (maybe is LaTech or Middle Tennesee) The maybe’s are “bubble teams” Them losing early would be the best for NU. As long as one of the top teams in that league wins still. The teams that I have listed for us to want to win are pretty much locks to get in (outside of Nebraska, I put them on there as we want them to win obviously) If I missed anything, throw it in. I'm sure I may have. All of this is irrelevant if we don't still win a few as well.
  3. I looked into the as well. No quality wins, and not a "great RPI (69). Now, I would like to see them win their tourney just so there is NO hope of another team getting in. Maybe they do get a look if they slip up? Highly unlikely, but crazier things have happened.
  4. Jesse Carr was from Nebraska on his roster too....
  5. and Gonzaga right? Hopefully they aren't as secure as I thought they were. RoyalFan...correct. Gonzaga and MAYBE BYU. BYU is more than likely a long shot, but some consider them "in" or right on the bubble. ESPN just had an article talking about how there just aren't many "mid majors" that can steal bids. Most leagues are 1 bid leagues out side of Wichita State not winning and as you said Gonzaga. Good point.
  6. All of those are 1 bid leagues. The only team that MAY have an outside shot if they lose their conference tourney would be Green Bay. As pointed out....Wichita State is the team from a "mid-major" we have to have win. Because if they lose in the Valley tourney that steals one bid away from the bubble.
  7. Trey tweeted that Miles is coming to see him today.
  8. Washnut reporting the 6'10 250# center from Sioux City (IA) on an unofficial visit today.
  9. I still feel Ray is one of the key parts to the end of the year. We need him to have one of his "hot" nights that he was having last year. Now is the best time to do it! End the year hot Ray!
  10. 3-0 in a heartbeat! That means we finish the season 11-7 in the B10 and a good shot at getting an at large berth. Being 4th/5th in the B10 with 11 wins would at the very least get us a VERY deep look in making the tourney. And remember...other bubble teams are going to continue to lose games. A lot of them play each other.
  11. My phone says UAB lost by 1?
  12. Suspends it's top 2 scorers for tonight's game vs Oregon for breaking team rules. Crap! We need UCLA
  13. You mean to tell me that fans on this board and around Nebraska panic right after any loss even though we play 30 games??? Who would've thunk it?
  14. The thing we all have to realize is that other bubble teams are going to lose as well. Palm had a little write up already this morning and said he still has NU as the first 4 out. As much as last night stinks as we had a great opportunity to move up, other teams did lose and a LOT of game tonight that can move things around. Plus we still have 3 games left. Gotta start by bouncing back on Saturday. Richmond losing to a 10-17 G. Mason hurts them. Cal lost WV lost NC State lost Baylor lost Stanford lost I follow all of this extremely close and some of the "bubble" teams still have a tough road ahead as well and could lose steam. GTown @Marquette, vs CU, @Nova Providence @Seton Hall, vs Marquette, @CU Oregon @UCLA, @USC, vs ASU, vs Zona St. Joe's @St. Bon, @GW, vs LaSalle Dayton; UMASS, @St. Louis, Richmond Cal: @ASU, Utah, Colorado Zags: @Pacific, @St. Mary's Arkansas: @Kentucky, Georgia, Miss, @Bama Colorado: @Utah, @Stanford, @Cal Okie State: KU, KSU, @ISU ASU: Cal, @Oregon, @Oregon State Things can still happen! We just need to keep our chins up and get a W on Saturday and move forward.
  15. The early line tomorrow is Illinois -4. Here's to hoping we prove Vegas wrong.
  16. The reason the Wisconsin game will end up being HUGE for us is because people are saying Wisky still has a shot at a #1 seed if things played out well. They are projected as a #2 seed by most. To beat a team of that caliber late in the year would look really good to the committee. We'll take one game at a time though and hope we play well at Illinois.
  17. I would add this as well: WAKE FOREST vs Clemson (6:00 on FS South) Could even add: FLORIDA at Vandy (6:00 on ESPNU) The Vandy bubble has probably been popped, but a big win can sometimes get a team back on the map. Some still say Clemson is on the bubble as well so I'll be pulling for Wake Forest. As for Dayton and St. Joe's.....I gotta think we want St. Joe's in this one. A road win goes a long ways for Dayton who is playing well. And Dayton still has games vs UMASS, @St. Louis and vs Richmond. So they have some good chances at "quality" wins. St. Joe's still has games @St. Bonaventure, @G. Washington and home vs LaSalle. Hoping they slip up in one of those road games, if not both. Just my $0.02
  18. A guy on 1620 the zone got on and said that NU still has work to do because we don't have a lot of top 100 wins. Yet we are 6-7 in that category which is just as many wins as so many of these other teams. Illinois is #85 in the RPI so I really hope we can get this game Wednesday. Gives us another top 100 win as well as another road win. I know we are all biased, but it just seems we aren't getting much respect from the National guys to this point. This guy also said he see's us losing to Wisconsin at the end of the year. That will be a big one for us. Would be a great win over a top team late in the year. Whatever happens....this has been so fun!!
  19. For RPI purposes....I assume we want Michigan to win since they played us twice? I know the "great" win vs MSU looks that much better, but I would think we want Michigan to win? This correct?
  20. hskr4life....the reason I would think we want WV is that Baylor is more "in" right now and after this game WV has some very tough games that they could lose (@ISU, @OU vs KU). If GTown wins today they still have 3 very tough games too (@Marq, vs CU and @Nova). An Xavier loss could still drop them, they also have a tough schedule after this game (@St Johns, vs CU, @Seton Hall and vs Nova).
  21. So wouldn't we want Harvard to win the league outright with no conference tourney title game? Say another team does and Harvard steals a bid? What we are trying to say, bball23 is that if Harvard were to somehow lose the Ivy League down the stretch is that they would not make the tournament anyway. Ok....but then does the regular season conference champ get an auto bid? I'm now sure how the IVY league works. Say Penn wins the league, then Harvard may get an at-large as well? In that case we would want Harvard to win the league correct and get the auto bid? Or do they not get an auto bid for winning the league without a conference tournament?
  22. THIS....I always have said "What if CU were 50 miles away from KU." Then who do they compare themselves too? Look, we as NU fans know the lack of success that NU has had in the hoops the past 15 years. But I also know that CU isn't exactly dominating the basketball world (especially come March). Don't get me wrong, they have a damn good team this year...damn good. But, from the CU fans I do talk to, they know this year they need to make a run or it may not happen for a long time. They will always bring up "Yeah, NU fans said the same thing with Funk, Tolliver, Korver, etc...." Well there are 2 reasons that things are different now. 1) Dana Altman isn't your coach anymore 2) You are in the Big East, so you need better players year in and year out. This years team has been playing together for 4-5 years now and all of the pieces fell perfectly into place. Throw in that you aren't getting another Doug McDermott anytime soon. They will bring up Funk, Tolliver, Korver, etc...Last time I checked none of those guys were All-Americans the way Doug is. IF they would ever happen to find another great player like that, kudos to them. But Coach Mac hasn't exactly proven he is a great recruiter outside of his son.
  23. So wouldn't we want Harvard to win the league outright with no conference tourney title game? Say another team does and Harvard steals a bid?
  24. And it doesn't stop with their hate towards NU. If ANY fan base, team doesn't bow down to the almighty Jays they get upset. They still to this day hate UNC. They hate Wichita State (which I can understand). The best part is, some of the Jays fans will talk about how Wichita is lucky they are in a bad league....Hmm...I swear CU was in that league for a LONG time. All of a sudden they look down on the "little WSU" team that went to the Final 4 and is still undefeated. They have made comments such as "Well we could win against those HS teams as well." Huh, that's odd, you NEVER went undefeated and you NEVER went to the Final 4. But by golly, bow down to us! We are better than NU and their 0 wins in the NCAA tourney (their argument every time). Their fan base has been and always will be the most sensitive fan base I have ever been around. Its why I have a hard time even talking with a CU fan. Its almost like they are trying to get my approval of how great CU is. Sure you won some MVC tourneys and some MVC league Championships, but according to their fans NOW winning in the MVC (for WSU) is easy. Yet they pound their chest all the time. Sure, compared to NU's 0 wins in the dance you feel good about yourself. But hell, make a Sweet 16 before you are pounding your chest and demanding National respect. Other teams in the Valley have gone to the Sweet 16 (3 in one season), others have made the Elite 8, Final 4......you know who hasn't? The Jays....but again, they have more wins than NU in the dance and that is all that really matters to them. I also think they fear the fact that Miles has a little bit of momentum going and they know NU has a chance to really get a good following of fans in the near future. They lose 4 starters that log so many minutes for them over the last 3 years. How does Mac do without Doug? Etahn? Manigat? Gibbs? The stars aligned for CU to have a good season. Doug walks on to give Gibbs that schoolie, Gibbs gets the 7th year, Wragge in his 5th year......I would love to see them fall flat on their face in the NCAA tourney.
  25. Providence has lost like 4 in a row and 5 of 7 or something like that...and he still has them in?! He must have had them as a 5 seed before the last couple weeks. Lunardi loves him some Big East. Not only has Providence lost 4 straight....Okie State has lost SEVEN straight! I think they take into consideration the "potential" of their team. Well guess what, this isn't the NBA lottery. They have to EARN getting in. 7 losses in a row at this time of year??? That's brutal.
