  1. How will this impact his academics? If he makes the team and plays it out, he'll miss the first quarter of the semester. That's a lot.
  2. Nebraska's medical and law schools are exponentially better than Creighton's, and it's not even debatable. Only the biggest Omaha-based Creighton homers don't acknowledge this. Technically, though, UNMC is its own entity so it doesn't really count? I mean, it could be considered just as much UNL's Med School as it could UNO's or UNK's... That's because it is just as much theirs as it is Lincoln's. The "University of Nebraska" is made up of four campuses: Lincoln, Omaha, Kearney and the Medical Center. It's part of the University of Nebraska system. It's overseen by the same Board of Regents the other campuses are. http://nebraska.edu/
  3. Feel free to talk about the recruit and the recruiting exploits of Miles, let's keep it roughly on that topic. Carry on.
  4. I'm not sure that it really *damages* anything if he goes elsewhere. It's only bigger if he commits.
  5. Cross posted in the "In State Recruits" thread. This post has been promoted to an article

  7. I've heard good things about Logan Strom. He's going to be a sophomore at Norfolk High this upcoming year. I think he's 6'8" now but I've heard he's expected to grow several more inches. I saw him play at state and he's skilled, a bit of a puppy still. Needs to get quicker to play at the Big Ten level, IMO. He could turn into an ox, though. Big strong kid, good hands, a little rough around the edges like most kids his age are.
  8. More appropriate comparisons: Kansas -- Wichita State Illinois -- Bradley Stanford -- Saint Mary's Tennessee -- Belmont Texas A&M -- UTEP and so on. I mean, it's okay to hate on Creighton...but the "rivalry" is pretty superficial if you ask me. The schools you mentioned, cwg, are all mostly peer institutions, except Georgia and Georgia State (you sure you didn't mean Georgia Tech?), and most of them are also all in the same conference. The only thing NU and Creighton have in common are that they are in the same state and they both have the Huskers as their football team. These don't really work either. These are schools where the power conference school has had staggeringly more success than the mid major. That's not the case here. Creighton has had much more success than NU and has for a while now. I'm not sure there is a comp. Washington and Gonzaga? I don't know if they play regularly, though. Virginia and VCU? I don't know that they play often either. Despite their conferences not being peers, NU and CU are. And now that they're in conferences that are a little closer to each other, the comps on the first list could be closer to the comps on the second over the next few years.
  9. Has he said that or just speculating? I think, other than the VT visit, we've heard about all of them from him. He's been pretty good about keeping things close to the vest, I think a trip to WF or even Maryland could absolutely still be in the cards.
  10. Blacksburg is about 4 hrs southwest of Potomac. About 2 hrs from Richmond, which I believe is where AW3 is.
  11. So, Miles is in Dorsey's backyard today...
  12. I don't think Creighton should ever be that game. Late-season conference game seems better suited for this kind of thing. Why? I think it should be whatever game is important for the program. If it's non-conference game vs. Creighton so be it. It's relative to each season. If we get Duke in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge some year, that could be it or it could be an early conference game when Michigan State comes to town. The only qualifier is that it should be a big game. For this team right now, Creighton would qualify, IMO. It may not down the road, but I think it could certainly be in the conversation this year if this is something they want to make a tradition.Creighton and Duke are nowhere near the same universe in this discussion. If Duke ever came to town and we had to promote crowd participation, then I'd question the brains of the entire fanbase.I think you missed the point. I'm saying the "bigness" is relative to the season. And I don't think the arena stands like it did for Wisconsin for any game unless you have some sort of promotion in conjunction with it. There's nothing wrong with a gimmick from time to time.Unless Nebraska and Creighton are both in the top ten/fifteen, I think it will forever be too early in the season for the Creighton game to be all that important to our season. They have little to no prestige (and will probably never have as much as they did last year). We only get 30ish games a season. Games like this will always be important. Considering NU's been beaten down by Creighton for the better part of two decades now, it's absolutely a big game. I don't think it will carry that importance every (or even most) years, but this year, they're out for blood. I know the team wants to put the hurt on 'em. I think the fans do/will feel the same, so maybe it doesn't need the extra hype, but you're underselling how important this game will be treated this year.
  13. I do kinda like the idea of doing it for the last home game of the year...
  14. That'd be tough for Maryland if they miss out on this kid. Would be a great get for NU.

  16. They even beat Robin to the information! Ah, the ole #Nebrasketball filter on Tweetdeck.

  18. Huh...Incarnate Word is a new one. Those Gophs beat us out on that one... http://www.cardinalathletics.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball
  19. I don't really have a problem with "No Sit Sunday" being our thing. This is how traditions start. One game a year, it can be relative to each season, the entire crowd stands and goes bonkers the whole time. This could be our thing.
  20. I'd imagine a Maryland visit will come shortly after the FSU visit. We could know by the end of next week.
