Not everyone in the portal is a scholarship player. Hoiberg was an avid user of the portal before it was cool so us flipping half the roster every year will be the norm for our program. As long as he has a base of guys who can run his stuff/self-motivated we should be successful most years.

As far as I can tell he hasn't scheduled a trip anywhere. Iowa has been mentioned as well.

Morgan and especially Meah don't have the assist numbers you could see from Rienk at Bradley. I don't think we'll see nearly as much passing from our 5 given less aptitude from the position plus having actual PGs.

Connor Essegian is the guy I'm looking at next year. Seems like he has the chance to make a James Palmer type jump

Morgan/Meah At this time I see Essegian and Griffiths like I see Keisei and CJ: a couple of SGs where you play the guy with the hot hand. I think Essegian gets the nod because he's more experienced. I'd say in a perfect world we get an usable PF out of the portal, we stay relatively injury free, Bolis redshirts this season, and he eventually becomes good enough where we give him a scholarship. For this season seems like a 'break glass in case of big man emergency' addition.

Ledlum currently fighting the NCAA for another year. If he's able to play and St John's has a logjam, he'd sure work in our rotation at the 4.

Sam as a viable offensive threat from the outside makes him playable with our PGs and enables us to play Brice at the 4 as needed

Reed, Kyle, Payne, and Meah are fairly similar in that they're defensive anchor centers. They rim protect, they rebound, they don't shoot 3s. Kyle and Reed are better in the sense they have 2 years of eligibility left, though there is no guarantee they won't just move again. I think one could argue the merits of these 3 players but the big takeaway to me is that we decided we needed this type of player and we have obtained one that is comparable to the other guys. It seems like we have a plan and built towards it.
