Wilson does his damage in the paint and draws a lot of fouls down low. The Skinny: Time got away from me here. Dave Paulson is a long time coach and Hoiberg was able to speak about his 1-2-2 three quarter press after beating WSU so we should have a good game plan. GM with that press will be trying to slow down Nebraska after made baskets but a small team like the Patriots will want to get into a running game with Nebraska at times. Always expect the Huskers to shoot from deep but their best bet would be to attack the paint vs a small George Mason squad ill-equipped to stop it. The Patriots are going to throw a dribble drive at Nebraska but the Huskers can also defend without fouling. A potential boost for George Mason might be the return of last year's leading scorer Justin Kier from injury. If Nebraska can get George Mason to play at their speed, they should win this one. Elleby set the freshman record for scoring with 471 points last year, passing another Cougar player of note, Klay Thompson. Elleby can shoot from anywhere on the court and can also function as a point forward. When he isn't busy scoring a ton of points he finds time to also lead the team in rebounds and steals. The Huskers should focus on making someone else beat them tonight and whomever is guarding Elleby is probably whom we consider our best defender. Players to watch: Isaac Bonton Washington St brought in a few JUCO players and former Montana St to Juco guard Isaac Bonton is the one currently scoring in double digits. Bonton has been fairly dynamic, leading the team in assists as well as shooting a lot. He's currently personally dragging down the Cougar's 3pt shooting numbers so turning Bonton into a guy that jacks 3s (assuming he doesn't start hitting them) seems like a way to slow down an already sub-par Cougar half court offense. The Skinny: Seems like Washington St might now have the right kind of coach to succeed in a place that makes Nebraska basketball look successful. New coach Kyle Smith is noted for his commitment to analytics and ability to flip up under-recruited prospects. Smith has leaned into the analytics thus far and his guard oriented team has focused on generating turnovers moreso than any other that Smith has led. NU and WSU are similar in the sense that they're both programs under a new coach with a lot of new faces, they both struggle to rebound (WSU does a lot better job on the defensive end than Nebraska), and they both have struggled from outside this year. Nebraska seems more primed to win the FT battle in this one. How much is Washington St going to concentrate on crashing the defensive boards vs stopping transition? I expect both teams to try and correct their last game bugaboos. Nebraska will most likely concentrate on rebounding and making FTs. Washington St should focus on shot selection and not taking half of their shots from 3. We know a lot about Nebraska's adversity issues but Washington St is in the same boat. Cam being over the top when things are going well isn't a problem...it's when he's over the top when things aren't going well that's an issue for this team with adversity problems. It's like hey man, no shit you just had a bad play and now you're acting like you were caught murdering a puppy...how many more bad plays in a row would you like that to lead to? I made this tweet that I don't consider an anti-Cam tweet at all. Someone made an obvious Cam Mack "stan" account to sort of chew me out and 3 other people at like 6 am Saturday morning before deleting the tweets. Our point guard seems to be a dramatic person surrounded by people that feed that. This isn't necessarily a good nor bad thing. I appreciate the passion, i do. Will he be able to channel it to make this team better when things are tough?

Last time, I think we got down 4-6 (points) and then it got to 15 or 18 right away when they caught fire. Those guys were hitting shots all over the place on us, but we found a way. We tried to throw a little zone on them but it didn’t work. Jervay [Green] was the one who said ‘stick with them, don’t help. Don’t switch.’ He did a really good job contesting (on Micah Bradford). Not very often you give up 25 offensive rebounds and miss 18 free throws and win a game, but give our guys credit for finding a way. It’s certainly better to win, and learn from a win, then a loss.
