Oh I'd still rather not!

I feel like that myth is dead now. Aside from the antics a lot of them display with complaining, most are the toughest SOBs.

2022 F Isaac Traudt - Virginia->Creighton
basketballjones replied to Navin R. Johnson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Understatement. Great coach, too... GIPS is a tough place. In my opinion, I think it's a lot closer to 50/50 between us and Creighton than maybe meets the eye. I think it will come down to what the rosters look like at each place. Yes, I think his sister is definitely good enough for Cook to give a look at, no question. -
I gotta say... there's worse dudes than CM. I never felt he wasn't giving anything but his absolute best.

BJ studied the transition from Tom Osborne to Frank Solich and just said, "Nahhh."
-
Hopefully we do our due diligence. Not a lot of great reviews on this kid out there.
-
Trying to look at this in non-biased way - I'm gonna say Sam. Getting a couple days into the tournament is something Creighton's already done. I think Sam brought our program to life.

I could be wrong. No further commento.

Don't think so. Hope to be wrong.

Everyone, please do not speak to me today.

Thoughts? You call that foul or not? I felt like you gotta swallow the whistle given it’s a tie ball-game. Let the players decide in OT. -
I better get my exorcism going.

NCAA Tournament Needs (Building a Team)

Well, regardless, Tonje was 61/157 from 3pt this year for a career 3pt% of 37%, while CJ was 42/134 this year and has a career 3pt% of 35%. -

He looks like what we'd want CJ Wilcher to be. -
I would argue Alonzo Verge wasn't fun to watch running that style, not that the style itself can't be fun to watch.
-
I personally believe Sallis can only be effective if he is your lead point guard in a "Ja Morant" type role. Slashing, making things happen in transition, manipulating ball screens to either get to the rim or to kick out. Has to be surrounded by shooters and versatile bigs. You can't play Sallis with another point guard.
-
I mean, I don't know about that? He might just need a fresh start somewhere and an altered role? I have no idea.
-
This is accurate. Not really sure he fits with what we do. He's basically just become a ball mover, somewhat slasher, and defensive stopper. Basically a more polished version of Denim Dawson.
-
With what they lose and what they bring in, I feel he's going to be in a weird position. I'd suggest he leaves and comes to Nebraska. Zero bias involved here.

NCAA Tournament Needs (Building a Team)
basketballjones replied to basketballjones's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
You've hit the nail on the head - and that is why I have recently advocated for not setting your sights/building a team on being a top 3/4 team in the league - but aiming to always finish in that 4-7 range. Typically guarantees you a trip to the tourney, and in my opinion, makes you a more versatile team. You're right though - a team built to win the big 10 is not a team built to have success in the tourney. -

Exorcise your demons, publicly, Norm. It's the only way to cleanse your soul. -
You know - the whole "in our system" point is well taken. That's a good point. When thinking of this team and recruits, it is important to think about who is able and willing to decisively close-out on rotations and not think about rules. Probably why Denim didn't work as well as he should have - he's a very good individual defender. But our defense almost assumes you're gonna get beat as an individual. Nelson definitely brings length and some rim protection - but he's not a banger. However, that's just my from my limited viewing.
