  1. Avery, Avery, Avery. What a friggin stud. A true testament to the Harriman's reserve and toughness. Absolutely unbelievable at this point... I do not know how the Harriman's do it. I feel a weaker man (myself) would have given up and broken down by now. For those who have been following this closer - what's his prognosis like? How is he doing? I assume that tweet means he's been in remission now for nearly 2 years? Is that accurate? TIA
  2. That report to me, sounds like a recent former Husker commit Keanu Pinder. An offensive enigma of sorts but a defensive stalwart. That report to me sounds like one of my favorite Huskers ever - Ade DagunduroBut, this thread has been hijacked - go back to Wingett! He's a player!
  3. I'd sell on Iowa also... Getting Jok back does not make them anything special. As far as the coaching.... Meh, I'm not sure I agree with you there. But that's probably just a style argument so no big deal.
  4. Are there grade issues? Character issues? I hate to post that and elude that there might be those things - but I'm just thinking out loud. I just feel like the things he can do at 6'7", 6'8" cannot be taught.
  5. You guys...... David Wingett is very good. What are y'all hearing?
  6. Andrew needs to look at Danny Green's career arcRight now, AWIII reminds me of a different guy on those same UNC teams - Harrison Barnes. DG is one of my favorite Carolina players of all time. Sooo savy and has such a high basketball IQ. So gaining his comparison is tough for me. Ha! My comparison was solely based on professional prospects, if Andrew wants to sniff the nba is going to have to study how Danny did itYou right

  8. How much of an adjustment on the floor is it for when you bring in or out bigs with different skill sets in this type of offense?Very simple. Anyone can set ball screens. What you do out of that screen can be predicated on what type of player they are. That's why Kevin Durant and Lebron have basically been playing 4's in a lot of these line-ups you've seen. How do you guard a ball screen if Lebron is setting it, and Kyrie is coming off it? The whole team has to react. Obviously we don't specifically have those players - but it's all relative.
  9. I think the ideal motion offense right now is what the NBA is doing with most of their bigs. The three guards (or four, depending on personnel) basically try to space off each other and react to each other's drives. While the two "bigs" are searching to set ball-screens, dribble reversals into hand-offs, and pinning guys in/down screening on back side. Their job is basically to stay away from one another (posts), and always become available for the ball to keep it moving with their actions. It's kind of hard to "teach," because it's technically random and without a pattern, but I like the rules. It's just good basketball in my opinion. I'd imagine you're going to see a lot of the same structurally from Nebrasketball next year. And I'm fine with that, because I think we're going to be so much better off the bounce. I think Gill/Webster/Watson attacking the paint is going to be so much more effective than Parker/Webster/Watson. Benny is one of the hardest guys to know how to talk about on this board, as I agree we all love the dude and appreciate everything he did. But he couldn't shoot the 3, and potentially worse, was also really not a threat to put the ball on the floor and create chaos. Just too small to finish near the rim. Never attracted help. ----------- The thing that has been my biggest X's and O's beef through the TM era so far is the lack of execution or emphasis in our make/miss transition basketball offense. My hope, is that our new assistant, who was such a good point guard back in college, can help revamp what Watson needs to be doing and looking for from getting the outlet pass to recognize when and where the advantages are, and how to quickly get us into our half court offense fluidly. That is where I would really focus on this year with the type of attacking guards we have.
  10. It's all a part of Norm's loophole to get Lebron to NU
  11. 6'9", graduate transfer that can shoot threes coming on the 31st.
  12. I have no idea what exactly they are - but I'm not exaggerating when I say this is about to be one of the better years of this young man's life. Look up stuff on Matt Leinhart's last year at USC, or even a guy like Nate Funk at Creighton (guarantee those names have never been mentioned in the same sentence before - Pulitzer here I come).
  13. Glynn Watson is the only freshman last year who averaged over 20mpg overall. MJ for the season was under 20, but did average 21 during conference play. I'd highly doubt you see JT over 20. Especially at 270lbs. Probably would have been better setting your number in the 12-15m range.
  14. I agree with you here. I don't think this Euro stuff is as glamorous as it's made out to be. Graduated senior still hanging on a major campus in a major conference > Euro league, when it will be there the next year too.
  15. Ah, that St. Joseph gym - Hoop Dreams is alive and well
  16. Jacobson - Kevin Love Horne - Draymond Morrow - Kenyon Martin Watson - just keep doing your thing and we'll be comparing future point guards to him.
  17. I'm not sure how relevant this is - but Justin Jackson from North Carolina took his name out of the draft. That either helps us or hurts us, can't decide. I think JJ is potentially a better player than AWIII but I'm not sure. Also takes away someone who could get drafted in his spot, making his chances better. Not sure...
  18. Good job Tai! Certainly good experience for him.
  19. Jonesie, you know I respect your basketball opinion greatly so this isn't an attack. It's more of a question. And the question is: Do you really think it's all that far-fetched for a somewhat heralded true freshman center to beat out a fairly unheralded sophomore power forward who won the center job over a somewhat unheralded sophomore center a year ago?In other words, Jacobson came in as a true freshman (who wasn't even a center) and beat out a sophomore center (who, granted, only played like 30 minutes the year before). Who's to say that Jordy can't do the same thing? Jordy certainly has a size advantage. Significant size advantage. We'll see, but I don't think it's too far-fetched. It might be different if our returning starter was a 6"10" upper classman, but he's not. Fair argument, Norm - certainly possible. And without a doubt I'd LOOOOVE to be wrong (win win for me, I don't care about being wrong - hope I am). I just think MJ was much, much more ready to play B1G D1 basketball than Jordy will be. From all aspects minus pure size. Nonetheless - if Coach Miles can keep Watson, Morrow, McVeigh, Jacobsen, Roby, Horne, Gill, Palmer, and JT on the team, the 2017-2018 team could be one of the best Husker teams I've personally ever been old enough to appreciate.
  20. McVeigh, Jacobsen, Watson, and Morrow are all really good dudes too. You're onto something with character being one of our top things
  21. Would love to get Dayon Griffin from La Tech
  22. The question that is haunting us.... All hinges on this. That seems just a tad fatalistic to me. But that's just me. Speaking about next year only (considering it's all he has left anyways), it's not difficult for me to say that we could be really good if AWIII comes back. And we'll see more of the same if he doesn't. Again, for next year at least. Future is bright, regardless. Assuming everyone stays.
  23. The question that is haunting us.... All hinges on this.
