Good point!

How bad would this feel if we HADN'T beat Creighton? Man, that was a great night! (Surprising that the first season Miles beats Creighton will likely be his last in Lincoln.) Anyway, someone should start a thread where we talk ONLY about the fun things from this season. Even if they all (other than Indiana) were over a month ago...

While I can't disagree that the program is a better place now than it was 8 years ago, I think a lot of people undervalue what PBA and Haymarket/Railyard have done to elevate Nebraska Basketball. I think the better fan experience is a bigger part of the program's "resurgence" than the coach and/or the play on the court. Now those fans want better results. And they're making it known. While it may be viewed as "negative", it just means they care and want better results. That's not a bad thing.

We could get into semantics all day, but I feel we can (and should) do better than Miles (good coach, bad coach, or otherwise). I like the guy and wanted it to work, but it's just so glaringly obvious that he isn't the answer. Time to move on.

Xavier Johnson would not have as long of a leash under Miles than what he currently has at Pitt. Miles is notorious for pulling freshman after one mistake. He did it with Roby all the time - no wonder he still plays so timidly.
-
Miles results also do not help recruiting. One-year extensions aren't great, but I also don't think Moos wanted to fire two coaches in a three-month span. It was just a tough spot to be in. And maybe the basketball program suffered because of it. But it's not like we hadn't been suffering before that!

No expectations, this is Nebrasketball

I applaud everyone's ability to stay positive and retain hope. I wish I possessed the ability to do that. ? -
This thread is ridiculous. What about all the players who transferred or left early BEFORE Moos was hired (Biggs, Hawkins, Wagner, Vucetic, Petteway, Pitchford, Smith, White, Evelyn, Hammond, Morrow, Jacobson, Horne)? There are some really good players listed there that we would all LOVE to still have in the program. Is Moos to blame for those? Gonna blame Eichorst? Boehm? Accept the fact that Miles just isn't a very good coach - THAT is why he wasn't extended. Not because Moos wanted to bury the program. That is ludicrous and illogical. Like many, many other Nebrasketball fans, I thought Moos' one-year extension was the correct play.

Thanks for figuring out how to say what neither I nor @hskr4life could figure out to say! ? -

History paints a different picture than what you've described. Obviously, I would LOVE to see us go 7-3 or 6-4 to finish out this season. But I also know that isn't realistic (based on what I've seen the past month and our "track record"). Perhaps I'm just protecting myself from further disappointment by expecting the worst, but I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than heartbroken. This team has taught me that much! -
I totally understand the purpose of your post. My point is that literally every major program in the country has also had pretty good teams, too. It's fun to reminisce, but personally, it's just tough for me to take solace in those memories when we are the only school - THE ONLY ONE - to have never won a tournament game. It is truly mind boggling that none of the good teams you listed have ever won a tournament game. It's embarrassing. I know that's not the "end all, be all" measurement of a program, but when you're the LAST ONE still waiting for it, it just hurts even more.

Based on history, my train of thought has been correct many more times. Just simply playing the numbers! -

Because we are Nebrasketball fans who live in reality... -
This is the epitome of Nebrasketball. And we should all be tired of it. I'm sick of our loser mentality. Time for change.
-
Turns out I may have been TOO optimistic.
-
Other than losing to Illinois at home, this would have been the worst possible loss on the conference schedule (imo). So, yeah. Don't lose to Rutgers.
-
Exactly. So why are people in support of signing Miles to a long-term deal? Do they just want to keep on suffering? I don't get it...
-
Because those programs have better coaches.
-
I'm genuinely curious as to why people think Miles resigning/leaving is greater than or equal to the odds of him being fired. Are things in his personal life factoring into that train of thought? Miles has said he likes it here and wants to coach here (but Urban Meyer said the same things about Ohio State), so just wanting peoples' thoughts on this.

Why would a team with a better coach swap coaches?
