Indiana (8-2) vs. Nebraska (6-2) Game Thread
nuhusker7 replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I’m really hoping the Trev’s beat wisonsin in 5 very long sets and the husker game doesn’t start until 9 or so. Im also curious how many people are trying to do both. If I’d have been able to get my hands on affordable vball tickets I was going to try to do both. -
After last games rebounding debacle I figured this would be a good time to revisit this. Current totals through 8 games (according to ESPN) Andrew Morgan - 42 (136 Min) Berke - 41 (151 Min) Juwan - 35 (201 Min) Rollie - 32 (199 Min) Braxton Meah - 28 (109 Min) Brice - 20 (230 minutes) Connor Essegian - 20 (170 Min) Gavin Griffiths - 19 (95 Min) Sam Hoiberg - 18 (135 Min) Aron Uhlis - 17 (120 Min) Cale - 7 (44 Min) Morgan and Berke are the top dogs for sure, followed by Meah. Juwan and Rollie are getting a decent amount, but I know Juwan still has an extra level that we need to get to. Brice was averaging 7.5 rebounds/ 40 min last year, and is down to 3.5 this year. This is lowest on the team by a decent margin. I had to double check these stats on another website because I didn’t think they were right when I first saw them. Connor is doing fine, if his target is to exceed what Keisei was doing, he is out pacing him in rebounds per minute.

We will be fine. If we win enough games that we deserve to be in the tourney our metrics will eventually reflect that. This is was really bad game again as very good team.

The sky is not falling, Fred should not be on the hot seat, or season is not doomed. I really liked how we played in the first half all things considered. We still need to figure out our offense, otherwise teams will just blanket Connor and we have nothing else. The second half was sad to see. Come back and beat a talented but beatable Indiana team and everything is back on track. -

It might be close to an impossible task at this point. But this team is not going to quit -

Still in this game despite all of the bullshit. Crappy to let them get the last 4 of the half, but we have a shot. Let’s do this guys. -

Two very questionable calls to start the game on Meah and Gary. Welcome to Izzo hell -

My favorite Breslin center moment was in 2014 when the students counted down the shot clock early, which worked on David Rivers, who shot an ill advised fade away three pointer. He banks it in, the Huskers go on to win the game, and this game propels them towards the NCAA tournament. -

Go big red! Huge opportunity tomorrow. Low consequences if we lose, huge upside if we win. Not counting on Berke, but still think we can pull this off. We potentially could have the best defense they’ve played all year. -
Holy moly they seem to know something. 40-26 Penn state up at half

I was extremely nervous for this game, hoping that we could find some way to win, even if only by one point. I could not be more pleased with the outcome today, the team looked great, and we were able to spend much of the second half giving guys opportunities. Fred was doing all he could to get some confidence for Gavin today, too bad he didn’t hit a couple of those threes and get some confidence, because at this point it’s going to be tough to find a lot of opportunities for him to get a lot of minutes. Looking forward for conference play. That would be huge if we could somehow sneak out a win against MSU. GBR Team Berke

Just win. I don’t care how ugly it is, how lucky we get, etc. Any win we walk away with is a good win all things considered. -

Absolutely. Could realistically go 2-0 in BIG play with them in 2024, could easily go 0-2 without them -

This first 12 minutes we played great, assuming everyone comes back healthy I have a ton of hope for this year. The second half was brutal all around. But we showed we can win against adversity, and we got a ton of real game minutes with guys who will need to step up at some point this year…. But hopefully we don’t need them all at the same time again I was thinking Berke triple before his injury. We need him back and healthy ASAP. Gavin reminds me a little bit of a freshman year Roby. He just needs a little bit of muscle and some confidence and he could do some damage. Connor has to have this mentality every game. It seems like he’s finally getting comfortable with the idea of the 100% green light that Fred gives. Most defenses will be better than USD, but he still needs to fire away. Brice is Brice. Not much more to say besides he is the guy. Team Berke. GBR -

We are just a better team than them, it’s as simple as that. We didn’t play all that well and still whooped them from start to finish. Good to see the real Juwan back. Shoutout to Meah. He is who he is, and we can’t expect something other than that, but he will help us win some games. Connor is going to be one of our most important players. He likely won’t be as good as Keisei, but he has to play that role. Never stop running on offense and shoot a lot of threes We are going to win a lot of games this year. Team Berke GBR -

Lot of good things, lot of bad things. Berke could be a top 5 husker of all time if he stays for the rest of his time. GBR
