  1. The punchline here is that it would be easier to assess Fred’s scheme if his players actually followed it.
  2. Did someone call for a yellow-out and I missed it?
  3. Your sarcasm is noted.
  4. Let me get something else off my chest. I'm going into next season behind this team and behind this coach. I will bring the best I have as a fan to the arena every game and cheer for them as hard as I can, which is what I've always done. I've upheld my end of the bargain. But to people like Robin Washut and Chris Basnett and the people who write for local sports media and talk on local sports radio, do me a favor, please. When we're heading into next season, I don't want to hear any interviews with any players talking about how the level of buy-in is so much better than it was a year ago. How the guys get along better than last year. How you can just see that the level of talent has improved. That talk is so cheap. I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear any of it. Prove it on the floor when the games count. Until then, spare me the noise.
  5. And while I might not agree with it, Fred Hoiberg is the coach of the basketball team I cheer for and I am going to pull for this team to succeed as fervently as I have for any 4th year coach in the history of the program. I want this to succeed. At this point, Fred is my coach and I'm going to be behind him until we see what things look like next season. And I will hope that I can continue to be behind him even then. I hope he succeeds. I really, really do.
  6. I am reliably informed that money is not an obstacle in this situation. If Trev feels the need to pull the trigger, the trigger will be pulled. Simple as that. And it doesn't affect what we can do with football if we need to do anything with football at all.
  7. I'm not sure what difference it makes whether we pay a year's salary spread out in monthly payments or all at once. I mean if we're paying a buyout, what difference does it make if he gets it all at once or spread out? When we're talking about just a difference of one year of pay, I guess I don't see what difference it makes whether he would get it all at once or monthly.
  8. Does anyone get this reference? Does anyone NOT get this reference?
  9. If you transposed two letters in the thread title and changed the punctuation slightly, you'd get ... "Why'd I stick with Fred?" And that's probably what Trev would be asking himself at this time next year if he doesn't pull the trigger.
  10. Did I ever tell you the story of Hoiberg McCave who had 21 victories and named them all Dave?
  11. I'm sorry for jumping your stuff, but what you wrote seemed like a putdown of Miles and his crew of overachievers going on a run at the end of that season, which had to be some of the most fun Husker basketball of all time. Outside of a final home game against Iowa, I'm not sure there's much to compare. Miles getting fired did not seem, at the time, like a foregone conclusion. Sure, there was a lot of speculation that we might have a coaching change, but it didn't have the same sense of inevitability that this season has. The reasons we struggled were different. The degree of struggling was vastly different. And the character of the squad was so incredibly different. If Hoiberg manages to get this group to go on a Big Ten tourney run like Miles' last season, I'll be beyond astonished.
  12. Um. I don't find the two situations remotely comparable, actually. I never saw the kind of dogshit effort out of a Miles team that we seem to see consistently from Hoiberg's teams. Miles proved he could win some games with inferior talent. He had guys hurt, took the end of the bench, and made a frickin' run with them. It was a thing of beauty. They had heart. They gave effort. They had grit. All the kinds of virtues that the Hoi boys consistently lack. What you've just said is asinine. Not even remotely the same thing. How could you even come up with that?
  13. I doubt we can afford him. They have Nike money to keep him there.
  14. You sure it won't be some Monday in April?
  15. I would have loved to count Colorado, but Colorado doesn't count. Sorry.
  16. I cannot argue that logic.
  17. Oh, yeah. Hadn't thought of that. That probably is the signature win. But is that a win for Fred or does that count as a win for his agent?
  18. If things continue the way they're headed and we lose out, it seems like a good chance Fred would be done here. If that's the case, what would you say has been Fred's signature win since he's been here?
  19. I would think "massive pay day" would light a fire underneath someone to want to be successful, not cause them to sleepwalk into a buyout. But then I've never been incentivized to fail that spectacularly before, either.
  20. Matt told Robin and Robin told Connor that someone ELSE is getting fired. Matt hopes. Because the alternative ... Bwahahahahahaha
  21. Did you get an extra year of eligibility due to Covid?
  22. I think Creighton fans often think the Creighton coaches hate the Huskers as much as they do. Not sure it's actually true, but I think it's more projection.
