Just watched the highlights again. 8:12 left and Purdue hits a two to make the game 52-50. With 5:25 left, we’re up 56-50 when Cross gets a steal and Thor runs out for a lay-up. That would be all we need because Purdue makes it to just 56 total points. We held Purdue to 6 points in 8 minutes. THE FINAL 8 minutes. That, my friends, is amazing and if we buy in with that much effort on the D end the rest of this year, we will compete in all of our games.

Let me tell ya about this team that was 8-8 and 0-4 in conference play. They were also 9-9 and 1-5 in conference play. The beauty who basketball is that anything can happen and there’s always a shot.

Also... we’re probably the closet team to being 2-0 in the Big 10 right now.

Creighton played D in the 2nd half?

Got to watch on and off. Was a great win. Will continue to say that Thor needs to start every game the rest of the way barring injuries. He’s our most all around player. Green coming back will need to give up a few shots to Burke and Thor. They are both playing well right now. I also like our rotation right now. You see flashes in both Cross and Yuv that make you go “wow.” Then there are times where you’re like “oof.” Freshman who will continue to get better. After watching these last two, screw next year, let’s focus on this year and win some ball games. This team can do it. Cam Mack my man. Nice job on the triple-double. Will be key for us moving forward and needs to stay on the right path for us. Did I see Kavas drive today? He needs to continue to accept his role and there is a place for him this year. However, a continued improvement on D is a must. All around great game! Everyone played well. If we keep playing hard like this, we will win some games. Night and day difference from Creighton. Glad they saw the effort it takes to compete at this level and took something from it.

Look out Big 10. Huskers going to make some noise in the spring. Much like the energizer bunny, we just keep getting better and better.

I will vote for the penalty box IF, like hockey, we allow two players to go at it just because for extra penalty time AND we get a do-over with Cookie Miller and Grant Gibbs times at NU and CU.

I posted in the game thread, but I just don’t think we’ll see it with Kavas this year. I think the game (Big 10) is too fast for him. I think our team plays too fast for him. On defense, I think he struggles because he is slower. His shot has been off this whole year. That could be due to a mental set, or could be do to defenses being tougher? I don’t know on that one. What I do know is that, it seemed as though most IU runs yesterday came with him in the game in some form. I remember a specific time late where we finally had the opportunity to sub Thor off for a breather and BAM, Kavas makes a mistake on D. Right away Thor was our back in.

Yeah... I could care less if he dunks it... just finish it. We’ve missed our fair share of those as a team, but he missed some bunnies that he should have finished tonight. Can’t be easy being 17 and going up against a MDAA.

One last thing... Thor continues to be our best shooter from deep. Finish your beer if you thought that would be someone else through 9 games.

Thor has to start every game from here on out. He is our glue... he is our all-around. Yuv is a year or two away and that’s damn frustrating in moments like tonight. Play hard and compete. That’s all I asked out of this year. We didn’t do that multiple times before tonight. We need this effort every night from here out. IU will dance in March. Think about that for a second. We can compete in every game we play. Everything looks better when the shots fall.
