No full update today and might not be one for a while as we just need to worry about beating Iowa. Let’s make the B1G tourney before we talk NCAAs. This is mostly because other bubble teams are taking care of business and picking up huge wins. And it makes me sick to see that but we can’t catch a break and win one. If we beat Iowa, I’ll revisit for conference tournament week.

my guess would be 2-3 bid steals this year looking at this graphic. Not confident in Drake, Irvine presents a challenge in Big West, San Fan in the WCC, and Colorado St in the MWC. Throw in one shocker and a few of those…

Exactly— I said something in the game thread about how we shouldn’t even be in the position of having this game mean so much to us. This should have been a playing for seeding type of game.

Forget this route— playing IU/Ohio St would require us to lose to Iowa and USC to lose twice. So a win wouldn’t get us Dayton. Carry on. Going to have to win the next 3. What’s going to really suck is winning our next two and then seeing our name pop up in the first 4 out group on selection Sunday.

I mentioned this last night. There is a scenario where we get the 15 seed and play Indiana as the 10 seed. That would of course require us to beat Iowa. Should Ohio State beat IU this weekend, that is the only situation where I could see two wins for us possibly getting us to Dayton. It would mean beating another bubble team for the second time this season. Outside of that, no first round game is going to move the needle much. So 3 wins is a must for Dayton. Hard disagree with the post above saying we need to win the whole thing. But it won’t be easy for sure.

Rutgers dropping to 77 bumped USC to 75. So… still 2 in this department. But our metrics are rough rough. Going to probably take winning the next three to even be considered for Dayton.

Wasn’t a flagrant until they reviewed. Part of the flagrant problem is that players have started to take advantage of the rule by flailing with any contact near the head. It’s like a flop trying to take a charge. They know the refs will always usually review it and it’s rarely called flagrant in real time. So either change how the rule is enforced or make more things reviewable. End of game situations, obvious officiating errors, technicals, etc.

Was playing around with the B1G tourney generator... there was a scenario where we end up the 15 seed and play Indiana the first round. Should we beat Iowa and Indiana lose to OSU, that could be another play-in type game. Most any other game the first round wouldn't give us much of a boost.

I'm just... damn man. The boys fought so hard tonight. So many close calls this year. We just can't finish close games. It's the Nebrasketball version of the "best whatever number win football team" we had a few years back under Frost. So many gut punches.
