Expectation #1: Nebraska has the talent for a Legit 10-man rotation next season. Not sure if it will shake out that way, but they have accumulated enough depth of talent for it. Starters: PG- Trey McGowens (6’4”) Wing- Bryce McGowens (6’6”) Wing- CJ Wilcher (6’5”) Wing- Lat Mayen (6’9”) Center- Derrick Walker (6’8”) 2nd String: PG- Kobe Webster (6’0”) Wing- Keon Edwards (6’7”) Wing- Delano Banton (6’9”) Wing- Wilhelm Breidenbach (6’9”) Center- Eduardo Andre (6’10”) Developmental Year / Strength and Conditioning / Adjusting to Big Ten level of basketball: Keisei Tominaga (6’1”) Oleg Kojenets (7’0”) Expectation #2: Nebraska will make the NCAA Tournament. The depth of talent on this team is at that level. Expectation #3: Nebraska will beat Creighton Expectation #4: Nebraska will win enough and will look exciting enough doing it, that they will be able to continue the current recruiting momentum in the following recruiting class(es).

This is great news

Banton, due to his propensity to commit careless turnovers and his inability to be reliable from 3PT, took himself out of the starting lineup before Wilcher even joined the roster. And Banton’s turnovers helped to keep this offense from getting into rhythm a lot of times, which improved when Banton came off of the bench playing more wing, rather than PG. I like Banton, but I just don’t think his skill set is suited for the PG spot in the Big Ten. In my opinion, Banton will be much more valuable to this team coming off of the bench playing the 3 and I’m also really intrigued by the idea of Banton playing the 4 at times, which would allow Nebraska to play essentially 4 ball-handlers on the court at the same time, without having to go the typical “small ball” route, because he’s 6’9”. And if you want to get really high octane, I think it would be pretty exciting to at times see an entire guard-like/skilled lineup that doesn’t have to sacrifice much/any length: 1- Trey (6’4”) 2- Bryce (6’6”) 3- Wilcher (6’5”) 4- Breidenbach or Mayen (6’9”) 5- Banton (6’9”) But back to the Wilcher point, to me, Wilcher looks like a better player than Banton, especially in an offense like Hoiberg’s that values shooting, and specifically shooting from 3PT, which is why I fully expect to see Wilcher start next season.

Other sites have his high school listed as Hillcrest Prep in AZ, but rivals has him listed as the same high school as Bryce McGowens

Keon Edwards from same high school as Bryce McGowens? https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2020/keon-edwards-209819

I think Tyon will play the 2 spot and his length at 6’7” will be a great advantage for him, especially on the defensive end, as well as rebounding. In his videos, he is a really aggressive rebounder as a SG, which is something this team needs as well.

I would be shocked if Wilcher didn’t start at the 3 spot next season. He’s a much better shooter than Banton and Nebraska is recruiting his 5-star younger brother, so I think we need CJ to be very happy with his situation at Nebraska next season, so that he is all-in when recruiting his brother.
-
The way I look at Tyon Grant-Foster is that right now Nebraska has 2 scholarship players on the roster that won’t count against the scholarship limit, so I think Hoiberg has a little more freedom to take a chance on a player or two like Grant-Foster. Nebraska already has a pretty solid 9-man rotation for next season and I don’t expect them to bring in anyone elite enough to knock any of these starting 5 out of the starting lineup. And Hoiberg has 2-3 scholarships available to build that up to a legit 10-man rotation. Starting Lineup: 1- Trey McGowens (6’4”) 2- Bryce McGowens (6’6”) 3- CJ Wilcher (6’5”) 4- Lat Mayen (6’9”) 5- Derrick Walker (6’8”) Bench: 1- Kobe Webster (6’0”) 2- Transfer (Tyon Grant-Foster (6’7”))? 3- Delano Banton (6’9”) 4- Wilhelm Breidenbach (6’9”) 5- Eduardo Andre (6’10”) I think, at this point, Hoiberg is recruiting for depth to raise the talent level of the bench. If a guy like Grant-Foster ends up developing into a star and working his way into a major role for the 2022-2023 season, then great, but for depth, he could also end up being a much more athletic and better shooting version of Stevenson on this roster and to me that’s ok too. I also expect another scholarship to officially open up, so I believe that if Nebraska were to bring in Grant-Foster, they will still be able to add 2 more player to the roster over this off season.

That’s what I was thinking

Oh, I guess I was thinking that Pinson would play the 2 in this system, especially with both Trey and Kobe coming back. Also, one thing that made me think it could be Pinson is that his final 4 is Nebraska and 3 SEC schools, but for some reason I was thinking that the SEC has some rule about transferring from one SEC school to another school in the conference.
-
So, based on that, are we thinking maybe Xavier Pinson or Greg Williams Jr?
-
I disagree

I guess what I mean is that I believe Nebraska has the potential to make the NCAA Tournament and that they will be one of the last 1-2 teams from the Big Ten to get in. My assumption is that the Big Ten will get 7-9 teams in. If that's the case, then I believe Nebraska will finish in the 7-9 range. If the Big Ten is down enough that the conference only gets 6ish teams into the NCAA Tournament, then I believe enough teams would be taking a step back so that Nebraska would be able to finish in the 5-6 range in that scenario. I do not believe that there is much of a chance that the Big Ten will get fewer than 6 teams into the Tournament.
-
I believe this team has the potential to finish somewhere between 7-9 in the Big Ten and make the NCAA Tournament. Should be able to get off to a good start next season and rack up some wins in the nonconference and head into conference play with momentum -Bringing back the core of major contributors from last season, so this team won't need to spend half the season just learning how to play together -Derrick Walker won't be suspended for half of the season -Another year of development for Andre after an impressive freshman season -Adding the first 5-star in Nebraska basketball history -Adding multiple shooters to the roster McGowens, Wilcher, Tominaga, Breidenbach -After coaching changes and players transferring, multiple Big Ten opponents will be in complete rebuilding mode, which should present a good opportunity for Nebraska to move up in the league

Washut thinks he will redshirt next season, in order to put on some weight and get used to US basketball and more specifically the Big Ten and then be ready to start contributing during the 2022-2023 season.
