I'm just guessing, but I doubt Iowa wrestlers wagered on wrestling matches. I'll bet Ullis never plays here or at any other college program, scout team or other.
-
There are gallows salespeople here in Nebraska that look forward to that as well.

I'm going to catch some grief over this, but I'm kind of in the "oh, well" camp. He's leaving. See ya. Was Graham Spanier the reason we won national championships in 94 and 95? Was he the reason Danny went on his run from 91-95? Nope on both counts. Everything seems to be in place for all Husker sports to succeed. I'm not getting my shorts in a bunch over this announcement. The only thing that could screw this hire up is if Harvey Perlman gets the gig.

Random thoughts: tcp is on a mission from God. I'm proud of him. Everyone of us should be on that mission! Whatever God tells you to do, do it! He still needs $300 to get him to D.C. Come on progressives on this board, give till it hurts. You won't.

August 16th is one of "those" days in history. We lost both Aretha and Elvis on this date. Babe Ruth, too. -
Thanks. The east side of Japan is far, far away from the west coast.

Once again, is Keisei still in Japan? Typhoon Lan hits western Japan, prompts evacuation warnings for 237,000 people | CNN

Isn't there high school NIL money for that?
-
Sucks they lost. Loved the Cincinatti Reds helmets, hated the Blue helmets. What's up with that?

Is Keisei still in Japan? They are having massive flooding in parts of the country. https://www.travelmole.com/news/travel-chaos-in-japan-as-typhoon-shuts-down-trains-and-planes/

We're a tightknit community here at HHC. This board is like family. I've had the pleasure to meet many of you, and there are others whom I've never met but I feel like we're friends. tcp is one of them. We come from different political perspectives, but love of music and Husker basketball overcomes all things evil. When he finds out I made this post, our friendship is probably over. Oh, well. tcp is a Viet Nam vet that has gone through hell. I'll leave it at that. Like so many veterans, he continues to serve. He has the opportunity to appear before a VA committee in Washington D.C. to testify about the opioids addictions problems among veterans later this week. Problem is, he doesn't have the funds to cover travel expenses from Oklahoma to D.C. How do I know this? I had a prompting the other night to pm him to see what sup. Hadn't talked with him in a few years. You can call it what you want, intuition, happenstance or whatever. I call it the hand of God. And His hand moves! I have a link where you can click to donate and learn more about what tcp is doing. I've already donated, but here's an incentive for anyone here who would like to help him out: for any $50 donation or more, I'll send you a 12 pack of Lucky Beef Sticks. For any $100 donation or more, you'll get the beef sticks plus a quart jar of cipsalsa! This really is urgent. He needs the funds in the next few days. PM me with info on how I can send you beef sticks and salsa. Thank you! P3Alliance - Pain Management, Advocacy (painadvocate.org)

I'm old enough to remember the 27 club passing away. Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison and others. I feel blessed I'm still alive to witness the Octogenarian club entering the gates of Rock and Roll Heaven. Here's a song from the initial member of the 27 Club: -

Schools who aren't Power 65, are nervous. Can't blame them. -

Okay, I never hear this song on the radio. But back around 1970, you did. Canned Heat was actually pretty talented. Dwight Yochum did a good cover. Speaking of canned heat, the first batch of cip salsa is cooking tomorrow. Canned Heat - Let's Work Together (1970) - YouTube -

I think of it as a song I hear on the radio where I'll turn up the volume rather than change the station. For those of you who aren't familiar with radios, pm me and we'll talk. This is definitely a song I turn up. -
USC & UCLA TO JOIN BIG TEN (beginning 2024)!

I've been wrong every step of the way when it comes to conference realignment. But here's my 2 cents worth. I don't see 24 team conferences. There are 65 Power 5 members. Three 24 mega conferences adds up to 72. They are not adding members to this elite group. However, three 18 member conferences is 56, leaving room for the ACC and remaining pac12 schools and independents to still be in the party. Jim Rose threw out this theory this morning. I'm not necessarily sure I agree, but... 18 team leagues allow for 3, 6 pod divisions. For football, you have the winners of the pods plus one wild card. Semi finals and finals to determine the conference champion. Here's my addition to his thought: For basketball, play each other head to head. That's 17 games. Do you need more? If so, designate a rival, or two, for each team they play home and homes. All the other sports take care of themselves and greatly improve the B1G with this new lineup. Not that it matters, but the number 18 is considered a very blessed number in Jewish culture. Just one of those random cip thoughts.
