Here is my take...because I am so excited about seeing this team, I will be a bit let down.  No way they are going to measure up, but that is okay.  I want to see improved talent, I want to see a better product on the floor, I want...I want...I want.  So I am going to enjoy this scrimmage...and my expectations are high.

Yes, I will probably be totally pumped until I see Petteway throw up a brick from 3 using form that would make Norm cringe, or Biggs play phantom defense, or Smith get stuffed by Vooch b/c he is really on 6'6", or Fuller get blown by when playing defense b/c he has lead feet, or Tai dribble the ball of his leg 5 times in a row . . . 

 

WAIT!  SORRY! I MUST NOT GO THERE!  I am just so conditioned after 12 years of Collier and Doc to expect the worst b/c the new "recruits" never lived up to the hype.  It is a hard habit to break when it has been ingrained in your head year after year after year.

 

Will this be the year to break the curse?

    Yes, One of these years (This One) we're going to be a whole hell of alot better than maybe even the most sunshine and rainbow fans want to believe. I'd bet my naked picture of Bob Devaney on it!

That's the way it happened in '91.  One year we were gawdawful, then next year...BAM!  3 seed.  I remember going to the first exhibition game expecting more of the same from the year before, but it wasn't.  These guys were good!  Someone sitting nearby said, "yeah they say practices have been way different...these guys are gonna be REAL good this year".  He was right!

 

I don't know if that will happen this year...or next...or the year after, or when.  I just know it's happened before for the 'Skers.  It could happen again.
