Row6Seat10 Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Hearing that Texas Tech transfer Japreece Dean has shown a real interest in Nebraska for her immediate future. Dean, a 5'6 sophomore guard at Texas Tech announced her decision to transfer from the Lady Raiders just last week. Expect her to announce before the Christmas break on her future plans. She will have 2 and half years to play according to NCAA transfer rules. Dean ranked second on the team in points (12.5) and led the team in assists (3.3) last season. She also led all Big 12 freshmen in points per game, free throw percentage, assists and assist to turnover ratio and she was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week six times, the first Lady Raider in Big 12 history to do so. Lauryn Brooks the one time Indiana Hoosier takes over her starting role. Schools that she also has had some sort of contact with so far are New Mexico, Minnesota, Louisiana Tech and many mid majors in Texas. Quote
Husker34 Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 She would be a nice addition to the team. She can p!ay the true point guard position. Quote
redsteve Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 (edited) Read on the TT forum that there have been some conflicts, and she was/is a starter, and maybe new player(s) have taken some of her playing time. Apparently there may have been a "discussion" with the coach in the locker room ?. ....Dean got suspended. So now she looking else where. That's the talk on a forum there anyway, for whatever it's worth. Others there said Dean is real quick, fast, and has a nice shot. Good player. Edited November 24, 2016 by redsteve mwm89 1 Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted November 25, 2016 Report Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) skillwise, sounds very intriguing. GBR! beat the hawks! Edited November 25, 2016 by whoopdeedoo Quote
HUD Posted November 25, 2016 Report Posted November 25, 2016 With 2 redshirted transfer guards and with A 5 star wing coming in next year what we really need is a couple of forwards that will be ready for prime time next season. With Allie graduating and Darien in a limited role we need a starter and another backup. Rachel should fill in if recovery is successful but with all the bigs in the conference you don't want to get caught short there. mwm89 and Omahusker 2 Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted November 26, 2016 Report Posted November 26, 2016 pains me to say this, but, i just wonder if burns situation, as far as health, may turn out to be a similar deal as we saw with kyndal clark. not that the injuries are the same, just that the rigors of practice and games will wear on those knees. i guess only time will tell. Red Don Posted November 26, 2016 Report Posted November 26, 2016 (edited) Nonetheless, Wishing Rachel Blackburn nothing but the Best! She is really missed this year! But maybe as a Silver Lining I think she will be even an even more valuable contributor to the team Next Year! (Sorry Whoop, I don't mean to imply that anyone is not wishing Rachel well! ) Edited November 27, 2016 by Red Don mwm89 and redsteve 2 Quote
