In another thread, someone linked the article from the OWH that talks about Connie's separation agreement.  I'm not going to look for the link but take my word for it that there was a blurb in the story that talked about how Connie's staff would have been paid through August 2017 EXCEPT ...

 

There was apparently a provision in the staff contracts that said if Yori RESIGNS (as opposed to getting fired) then the U is out from under their contracts and they can all be dismissed w/o further pay.

 

So, question for the smart types:

 

Jan Bethea says she's filing a discrimination complaint against the U for how she was forced out.  I assume she's suing for back pay and future pay.

 

But Connie resigns and her assistants no longer get paid.  Does that limit the University's exposure at all?  In other words, hey, players came forward with complaints of mistreatment, there was an investigation, Yori was going through a nasty divorce and custody battle, as a result of the combination of which Yori decided to RESIGN.

 

So, even if Bethea had NOT been forced out and had continued to be employed with the University, she'd have been out of a job at this point anyway because Yori chose to quit.

 

Does that fly at all?

Probably not in that Bethea's claim was on the books before Yori's leaving, so the fact that Yori left has no bearing on Bethea's suit.

 

What happens after the suit is filed doesn't matter, in that Bethea apparently claims she was wronged long before Yori's departure.

 

Is Yori being sued as well as UNL ?   Probably so..maybe even poster's to this forum .....
