hopefully, offense won't be in a funk! michigan appears to be doing just fine without Dilk. will take a guess: huskers need to score 74+ to have a great shot for that "w". -

from the articles i read (including from michigan...didn't see any mention of Dilk) i did read an article about 3 weeks ago that stated she was "day to day". don't remember which game it happened, however, i did read the article and it mentioned (paraphrasing) it was creepy to hear her scream in pain to a silent crowd. just a guess, but, wonder if she might be out for at least a few more weeks compared to the "day to day" comment? no idea, really. i'm sure Barnes-Arico has a pretty good idea, but, just wants to keep opponents guessing. btw, the injury was in the first game against IUPUI. who guards brown? haiby---starting out anyway??? going to be an issue with the starting line-up. would be giving up a few inches to brown. -

from Hail Varsity's article about tonight's game... "Nebraska’s defense will be tested against Michigan. The Wolverines are averaging 73.5 points per game, which ranks 61st in the country, but they’ve scored 90-plus points in three of their last five games, including against No. 25 Ohio State and Wisconsin. They also have an overtime win against No. 5 Baylor. Michigan forward Naz Hillmon is the most dangerous threat to the Huskers. Last season’s Big Ten Player of the Year, the 6-foot-2 forward is averaging a team-best 20.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She’s already racked up six double-doubles and is coming off a monster 29-point, 15-rebound outing against Ohio State. Others will guard her throughout the game, but Husker forward Isabelle Bourne will often be matched up with Hillmon. Those two squared off internationally in the World Championships, Bourne with Australia and Hillmon with Team USA." -

for me, Cravens and Markowski (Stewart) need to keep Michigan from getting 2nd/3rd chances offensively. hope we don't have to rely on perimeter shots------however, need a high percentage to drop given the opportunity. need Izzy to have a really good game. huskers gonna need practically all facets of the game hitting on a high level if they want to pull the upset. -

i didn't get to see the game.......the biggest question i have always had in the back of my mind is how they rebound in the big ten. yes, non-con was "fun"........but, i still looked at this team in the 6-7-8 range in the conference. like one of the articles i read (can't remember who stated it in their column---hayes or creme?) he stated huskers will need some upsets to make the ncaa's with the non-con schedule they played.

https://bigten.org/news/2021/12/28/general-statement-on-the-2021-22-big-ten-conference-covid-19-forfeiture-policy.aspx ROSEMONT, Ill. – In collaboration and communication with the Big Ten Conference Administrators Council, Chancellors and Presidents, and the Sports Medicine Committee – effective today – the Big Ten Conference has updated its forfeiture policy for remaining 2021-22 conference contests across all sponsored sports. “The conference office and all 14 Big Ten member institutions have been in continuous contact about developments related to COVID-19,” said Big Ten Conference Commissioner Kevin Warren. “The well-being of our student-athletes and our entire athletic communities is our top priority and we are updating our forfeiture policy to support their health and safety as well as the integrity of conference competition.” If a team or teams is/are unable to participate in a scheduled Conference competition due to COVID-19, and as a result the competition is unable to occur on the calendar day on which it is scheduled, the competition will not automatically be considered a forfeiture. Upon review and approval by the Conference office, in consultation with the participating institutions and the Big Ten Chief Medical Officer, Dr. James Borchers, the competition may be rescheduled, or declared a no contest or a forfeiture. The Conference office will be responsible for rescheduling any conference competition postponed due to COVID-19. The number of competitors available – i.e. seven scholarship student-athletes for women’s and men’s basketball – and the availability of at least one countable coach will be factored into the decision-making process. A team that is below the number may still decide to compete if deemed safe by appropriate medical personnel (i.e. the decision to postpone a competition will not be automatic even if a team is below the number). Conversely, a team that is not below the number of requisite competitors and a coach may still determine that it is unsafe to compete. In such case, forfeiture will not be automatic, but an institution would need to demonstrate to the Conference office, including the Chief Medical Officer, the circumstances that have led to a determination that it would be unsafe to compete. A team that does not compete, and is unable to demonstrate why it is unsafe to compete, will be assessed a forfeiture. Postponed competitions that do not result in forfeiture but are unable to be rescheduled will be declared “no contests.”

just some big ten news...my cousin from minnesota sent me this comment from a gopher forum. plus, he added there seems to be a growing number of similar comments. imo, with the recruiting class she has coming in for next season, i think the "powers that be" will see how next season unfolds. Whalen on the "hot seat"?: "I saw a quick interview with Lindsay on KARE 11 Sports last night, after the game. She sounded beaten and deflated and ready to hang it up. The clips of the game showed a team that was defensively porous and incredibly lazy. Either Lindsay has to suck it up, design a system that works for these players and then teach it, or she needs to resign the fact that she was a hell of a player, but not a coach. Coaching is a different beast. Not everyone is cut out for it and it's especially hard if you are in a program that requires a lot of teaching. Is Lindsay a teacher? The current results tell us she is not. Sometimes the best thing to do is to say thanks for giving me a shot and then move on to do something that you love an are gifted at doing. Coaching may not be what Lindsay is good at." -
great light show at the end!
