  1. I would like to see Fred retained for another year if we show reasonable progress (player development and 10 to 12 wins). I agree with kldm64's post that we have five to six players that are competitive. I would love to see our next recruiting class to be Eli Rice, Parker Friedrichsen, Braelon Green, and a power forward. That would keep Fred around for another year.
  2. Nebraska basketball needs something good to happen. Maybe this is part of it. Maybe Johnson adds 15 points and 6 rebounds a game to our totals. Maybe Blaise Keita can defend the paint and get 8 points and 8 rebounds a game. Maybe Breidenbach comes back better than before. Maybe Ramel Lloyd is the real deal. Maybe some good things are starting to happen for Husker basketball. I have hope!!
  3. If we can get Johnson to commit, I am hoping that Derrick Walker gives up his scholarship with the promise of 'extra' NIL money. Walker wants this team to do well and might be open to this arrangement. Everybody wins!!!
  4. I have four tickets in the bottom arena (section 113) and have renewed for another year. Keep the faith. GBR!!!
  5. You forgot C.J. Wilcher -- he should be improved and play a lot.
  6. It is great to hear that Blaise Keita is playing like a 'Grown A** Man'. Finally, we may be able to protect the rim and REBOUND!!! Could we possibly dominate the paint in some games? It's been a long time coming -- I hope the wait is over.
  7. I would like to know how Blaise Keita and Oleg Kojenets are doing. Is Keita 100% healthy? Will Oleg be able to give us some quality minutes? Are we finally going to have a presence in the paint?
  8. Maybe I missed it, but I have not seen any news on the summer workouts. Who is looking good??? How are the new guys doing???
  9. It sounds like the Big 12 teams (minus Texas and Oklahoma) and the PAC 12 teams (minus USC and UCLA) are forming a '3rd super conference'. Good!! That means the teams in the ACC will be looking for ways to protect themselves. It makes the ACC conference the most likely to implode. I know they have an agreement to stay together but good lawyers can find a way to reduce any penalties. My hope is Notre Dame, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Duke move to the BIG 10 (20-team conference) and Clemson, Florida State, Miami, and possible others move to the SEC. Just as Notre Dame keeps its traditional rivals in USC, Michigan, Michigan State, and Purdue in football. North Carolina keeps its main rival in Duke -- especially true for basketball. I know that football money drives the conference decisions. I know that conferences are looking for the best football teams. But there is nothing wrong with creating the best basketball conference in the process. Be aggressive BIG 10.
  10. It seems I have been a lone Husker basketball fan wherever I have lived. It's all football and no basketball. I also enjoy Husker football but I have always followed the basketball team. I was excited to join the Big 10 because it is a basketball power and we would have to 'up' our game. We built 'The Vault' and hired Tim Miles. The team with Roby, Copeland, Palmer and Watson sent my expectations skyrocketing for Husker basketball. I thought we would compete in the top half of the conference -- I was wrong. Then we hired Fred. Again, I thought we would become fixtures in the top half of our conference -- and again, I have been wrong. But I am not without hope. If we can land Freidrichsen and Betts, we have a chance. "So I'm saying there is a chance."
  11. I have to hope that we have a legitimate shot at landing both Freidrichsen and Betts. I donl't want to give up hope and be a football fan only.
  12. We have a good start for the 2023 recruiting cycle with Chase Clemmons at point guard. We have an excellent chance at Parker Freidrichsen as an off-guard. And I would love to add Kadyn Betts from Colorado as a power forward to this class. All three would be solid building blocks for our program. All three would give me hope for the future.
  13. When do the new players report? When do summer practices start? We have six new players coming into the program. Are all of them going to be here in early June or will we have to wait for some? In particular, when does the JUCO center Blaise Keita arrive?
  14. I am surprised that no one mentioned Blaise Keita as a potential 'break-out' player. He is an older, mature player at 6'10" and 240 lbs. In the Big 10, we need a player that can defend the rim and grab a rebound without getting pushed out of the paint. He has the size and maturity -- what if he is the real deal? There's our break-out player.
  15. How is Blaise Keita's injured knee? I know he missed the first part of the season but played in the second half of the season. I didn't see any write-ups. At the end of last season many experts considered Blaise the best center playing JUCE ball. Did he make a 100% recovery? Does he run the floor well? Was he agile in the paint? Did he block shots? Did he rebound? Did he show any offensive moves in the paint? -- OR -- Did he 'lumber' down the floor to the offensive end and just 'stand in the paint' and block up the lane for the other teammates? I WANT TO KNOW IF WE ARE GETTING THE BEST JUCO CENTER IN THE COUNTRY -- OR -- ARE WE GETTING A DAMAGED PLAYER THAT IS NOT AS GOOD AS HE WAS BEFORE THE INJURY? Blaise Keita needs to be a STUD IN THE MIDDLE for us to be competitive this season. His health is more important than landing Gray.
  16. It is OK to have hope -- you are not alone.
