  1. I wont fault Miles for Petteway. Pitchford was a loss.
  2. Football will always be primary, but that doesn't mean success has to be mutually exclusive
  3. It's a positive variable. Momentum? We'll see. If Copeland and Palmer leave and we don't sign another decent big....then that takes quite a bit away from it. I guess for me to consider there to be real momentum, there needs to be multiple positive things occurring or appearing to occur.
  4. Not a huge believer in tradition being a factor outside of a handful of teams. Kansas hoops would be one. K-State..not so much. They had some success in the 50s and 60s but that's not what made them competitive. It was taking a chance on Huggins. Finding the right guy. We might need to do the same. Take a chance on a guy who has had some issues in his past (cough Kelvin Sampson cough). There's absolutely zero reason why we can't come close to what a K-State is.
  5. Ethan Happ is testing the draft waters as well
  6. Leron Black of Illinois has left Tyler Cook of Iowa is testing the waters but not signed with an agent so he could still return
  7. Dont think recruits plan on transferring when they sign. Sure they take advantage of the environment if things dont go their way right away, but stability, or at least the appearance of, matters.
  8. Are we actively in on those top 20 recruits? For the none 1 and dones...its a big thing
  9. Guessing the recruit in question is Eric Hunter. We were all over him early on and he consistently had us at the top. One day he committed to Purdue. And yes...the contract thing is a major issue for recruits. Perception is reality and the optics of not rolling over a coach after a 3rd consecutive year are not good.
  10. Don’t think one has anything to do with the other
  11. Those teams fell flat on their face outside the conference in November which led to the lack of opportunities in March. More than anything...Maryland losing Jackson and Minnesota's raping and injuries killed the middle of the conference.
  12. There was never any doubt on the top 4 of the Big 10. It was what came after
  13. Tariq Owens of StJohns is grad transferring. This would be a guy I'd be tickled to pick up
  14. Won't disagree that we could use a shooter....but between Watson, Allen, Johnson, Palmer, Akenten, the new guy and Thor...I think we can piece something together there. Front court....Roby is legit, but should be a 4. Copeland is skilled, but not a great defender or rebounder and am not holding my breath there. Jordy isn;t very good and has already tried to leave once. McVeigh isn't very good as a shooter or front court player and may go home. Platteview kid isn't ready. Borchardt shouldn't be logging big minutes on too many big ten teams. Razor thin here already. And thats if we catch all the breaks
  15. Don't know...but I'd be focusing all efforts on the front court with any open spots I have right now.
  16. We’re not paying a basketball coach $5 mil a year
  17. Which could be a very good or very bad thing depending on his timing.
  18. Been stated by several people who would know that it has already had an impact. Recruiting is about relationships whether people want to admit it or not. And when the optics paint a very clear picture of a pending coaching change in a year....no too many top flight prospects are going to be signing up for that mess. Thats a huge negative recruiting tool to be used against us. And we already have enough of those going against us without us stoking the fire.
  19. You fire him or extend him. No more playing just the tip. It's an either/or proposition at this point, not a maybe. Need to extend him. I don't think he gets us over the hump, but we can't just sit here and do nothing. Have to extend him. Can't go 3 years in a row without an extension, especially coming off the 3rd best regular season in school history without doing it. If you don't do it, you may as well take out a billboard saying you are going to fire Miles next year. Recruiting would be non-existent.
  20. While the conference slate didn't give us very many chances.....it's not like we took very good advantage of the ones we did have.
  21. I won't say that we were an average team. Because I don't think we were. We are/were pretty talented. But I do think the last two games do show that our record was a product of our schedule as much as it was us being good. It was a good year. But I don't think we were quite as good as what we want to think/believe we are. We were a tough out at home. But on the road or a neutral site, we were pretty darn bad against decent teams.
  22. Agree with a lot. We need some pure shooters. Though...I think having a legit 5 makes us a more difficult guard and would create some opportunities to make some of these guys better shooters.
  23. We were undervalued by the NIT committee. But it's our consistent performance like this when the lights do get bright that fuels the disrespect and justifies it.
