  1. WHEN we make it back to PBA, it should be a no-sit game! Pack the house and roar non-stop for 40 minutes!
  2. Shows how different things are at the high schools in Lincoln. I can think of one in particular that should have fired their coach last year but are still letting him stink things up. What were her antics on the sideline? I have seen them play multiple times and didn't notice anything too outrageous, and I know of a lot of current players who love playing for her.
  3. Interesting. And does anyone know what is going on with Bri Craig there?
  4. Wow. We are not playing well at all. Looking like Iowa wants this more.
  5. Announcers said we are 4th seed no matter the outcome tomorrow.
  6. Ibis is a long jumper that has gone to state track the past few years.
  7. Akin-Otiko also won the long jump, and she set a state record in the 200. She was also Gatorade Track and Field athlete of the year. Just remembered that Benson moves down to class B next year. Could we see a Benson vs Pius X final at state? Akin-Otiko really needs to work on those free throws.
  8. I would say Okin-Otiko is Laudermill fast. But Simon isn't as fast as T, but above average speed for a girl her height.
  9. I believe I heard them say Nebraska, Creighton, Arizona State, Stanford, and I can't remember the rest.
  10. I like Akin-Otiko, too, and if she decides to play college basketball I would like to see her in a Husker uniform. BUT - I'm hoping she chooses track over basketball. She is such a special track athlete I would hate to see her step away from it.
  11. I really hope we get Ibis. She has an impressive list of offers, though, hard to turn down Stanford.
  12. I see Bluder watching in the stands. She may have nightmares tonight if we keep playing like this.
  13. The Kissinger girls have played on the same club team with Jess Shepard for quite some time. And Jess gets a lot of attention on defense, leaving those girls with wide open shots under little or no pressure. I feel these girls have been over rated for quite some time. Nice girls, nice family, but I think there could be some struggles in college. Sadie Murren also played with them for a while, and she looked fantastic knocking down threes back then. But now she's at the end of her sophomore year and isn't getting a single meaningful minute. Maddie will continue to improve and has better speed than a lot of girls we see in this state. She's not KK Houser fast, but she is definitely above average. I would like to see Chloe Akin-Otiko play tonight, will probably switch back and forth between the Husker game and Bellevue West game. No one in the state has Chloe's speed, and she gave Jess Shepard fits a year ago in the championship game. This year she may give Ibis fits.
  14. I think that they are very good 3 point shooters. However, I have always felt they are slow on defense and that is why there was so much foul trouble today. If they are standing wide open they can knock down the shot, but given that they couldn't keep up defensively against a team with little or no college recruits, I have my doubts about their success in D1. And for people that said Minden could beat most of the top class A teams, I highly doubt it.
  15. Tune into NET to watch the finals of girls state basketball. I believe Maddie Simon and her teammates play at 1pm. Unfortunately I think Kiana Ibis' game overlaps with the Husker game by quite a bit. Here is the bracket: http://nsaahome.org/textfile/bask/gbpair.pdf
  16. Tremendous opportunity for our ladies that may have just gotten a bit easier! But first, we need to take care of business tonight!
  17. I've convinced myself that it's OK to cheer for Iowa because it's more like cheering against Purdue.
  18. Is it wrong of me to cheer for Iowa right now?
  19. Wow, OSU has blown a decent lead and are only up by 11 now with around 3:30 left.
  20. Does anyone have a link to a free radio broadcast I can listen to at work?
  21. Going back to the GPA issue - I attended the parents' meeting for track and field at our school this week. The head coach stood up front and said that if a student has a D or F in ANY class, then they are sitting out and having to attend academic help sessions. He spent a lot of time talking about academics.
  22. Kind of sounded like Fremont needed some other players to step up sooner. Made a run at the end after getting down by 15, but it wasn't enough. The OKState recruit from Humphrey had one heck of a game. I think I read she scored all but 2 field goals for her team. I should also mention Kenzie Kulm from Platteview who scored 40 points to set a class C1 state tournament game scoring record in their win against a very good Fairbury team. Today Platteview takes on Minden, which could be a very interesting game.
  23. I saw Ibis play last year and was very impressed with her then. Both my daughter and I think she would be a great fit for the Huskers. Very athletic.
  24. Nice article on Maddie Simon and her Pius X team in the Lincoln paper today. http://journalstar.com/sports/high-school/basketball/girls/state-hoops-2014/state-girls-basketball-simon-thunderbolts-ready-to-make-memories/article_959c0c3c-90c5-52aa-858f-bdf91eacd3f5.html
