I think Duke is a pretty decent team. Tons of athleticism and they know how to finish at the rim. I did question their coach burning their last time out rather than saving it to advance the ball. Especially since it was a scenario where Williams was likely going to call a time out anyway so that we could advance the ball. That was a head scratcher for me. And their player that traveled at the end - felt bad for her. The same thing almost happened to us with a miscommunication on a throw in. The game really could have gone either way, we just had that "killer instinct" last night. I'm hoping we see it consistently now because if I had known how athletic Duke was prior to this game, I would have said we get beat by 15.

I've read their message board a few times over the past several years. Seems like they get some very good recruits (ranked highly) but there has been a gripe that they never get any better under her. And some have then transferred out of the program. And hasn't it been within the past few years the coach was under investigation for something (or am I thinking of a different program) but then she was reinstated? I seem to remember the last time they played in Lincoln the coach went psycho on one of her players as they walked to the locker room.

I was looking at the box score from last night - Creighton was cold cold cold shooting from everywhere on the court. I didn't watch the game so I don't know if that was mostly due to good D by USD or if Creighton was off. But it seems that USD always plays CU tough, kind of like CU always plays us tough. Yotes played Missouri State a while ago and lost by 8. Had some foul trouble early in the game and Missouri State is a good team so they took advantage of that. Still, Yotes didn't give up and were never out of the game but couldn't quite pull it off at the end. I think Missouri State was a sweet 16 team last year and iirc, they beat Minnesota this season.

Yotes knock off Creighton last night 72-65.

I watched both games (camera angles were questionable but I managed even though I was never sure if a shot was made or not since the basket was outside of the camera range on close ups). I felt like our second unit played together better than our first unit in both games. I also want to mention that I am very happy with Grace this season - she’s not getting a ton of minutes but when she’s in the game she makes something happen whether that be a bucket, free throws, tie up, rebound, or even disrupting a pass. She seems to be “on” the second she walks on the court and stays “on” until she’s subbed. My impression is that is what coach wants from everyone since she does have a lot of depth. Give it 110% while you are out there because nobody has to play 30 minutes each game. I really really wish we would stop the insanely dumb passes but I don’t have much hope since I’ve been seeing the same thing for a few years. I was reading a WBB message board this morning and a third party who watched the game described it as “unwatchable”, “sloppy”, and didn’t have much good to say about NU, although they did say maybe we could be a bubble team. I can honestly say that because of the turnovers and inconsistent play (we have scoring droughts in most games), I have found it hard to watch sometimes. I do like that coach is building depth - but we need consistency, athleticism, and a killer instinct. The latter is something I don’t feel the team has yet, at least not every game.

I would like to see Kissinger and Whitish on the floor together more often - especially when they are both sinking 3s. Have them out there with Nicea, Bourne, and Cain. Just a thought.

I honestly think USD could have easily defeated our Huskers each year Williams has been at NU, including this year.

I thought I heard Coatney say on the broadcast that he was going to ask about Helms but then I did not hear him ask Amy. Maybe I didn't hear things correctly, but I thought it was strange there was no mention.

Is that some sort of NCAA low scoring record where both teams only combined for 12 points in a quarter?

It wasn't until state track was over and my daughter was able to be at home and do nothing for 3 weeks that she started to make real progress. Didn't even watch tv or anything, just rested and didn't do anything. And, yes, she did get cleared to compete in state track literally 1 hour before her event but afterwards she was puking her guts out and had a terrible headache.

To be honest, I’m surprised they were on the bench at all. My kid suffered a concussion her junior year in HS and she wasn’t even allowed to sit in class. They didn’t even make her take her finals.

Crap - I was busy running errands the second half and missed most of it!

In an early graphic, they had some blocking stats for Cain. Except they said we were in the Summit League. Later on they realized we were in the BIG10. They keep saying we are old Big 12 rivals with Mizzou. When I was in school, we were Big 8 rivals.

Our offense went cold in the second quarter. We also had some silly turnovers. But we are still ahead at half. Hoping for a strong third quarter.
