Why not a 25 footer turn around with a guy in his face to end the half. Our last 75 minutes of defense has left a lot to be desired. -

They are crashing the boards on the offensive end. They have little interest in keeping us off the boards on our shots. -
My favorite from Major League. "For the Indians, 1 run on 1 hit. That's all we got 1 god damn hit. You can't say god damn on the air. Don't worry no one's listening anyway."

Game Day Essentials: Game #17 vs Rutgers
brfrad replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
The last 2 times we had guys playing against their former teams, they did not play well. Berke was 1 - 8 with 4 points and 3 turnovers. He did grab 9 rebounds. Uhlis had 1 assist and 1 turnover against Iowa. -
We actually held Iowa to their lowest point total at home in regulation (76). Overtime was another story.

Early in the game, we struggle to get out on shooters, throughout the year. They get good looks, and usually make them. Today was that times 10. We also let that dictate our close outs the rest of the game, today. We missed some 3's and were unable to get in the paint. We became very reliant on poor 3 point shots. A lot of hero ball occurred. All is not lost. The last 2 years, we have played our best once we get into February. Prior to Feb 1st 2022 - 23 Home 7 - 3 Away 2 - 8 Neutral 1 - 2 2023 - 24 Home 13 - 1 Away 1 - 5 Neutral 1 - 0 After Feb 1st 2022 - 23 Home 4 - 1 Away 2 - 1 Neutral 0 - 1 2023 - 24 Home 5 - 0 Away 2 - 3 Neutral 1 - 2 -

We have went from what seed are we getting in the Big dance to are we going to make the Big 10 tournament. We have struggled all year with ball handling with pressure on the road. -

We couldn't shoot, couldn't defend, couldn't take care of the ball, couldn't force turnovers, couldn't rebound. The one thing we did is make free throws. This was not Iowa beating us twice. This was the fact that we weren't ready to deal with Purdue's pressure. We should have been. -

If Brice is unable to the line, he is not going to score. He cannot get open looks when he is not on the ball. We had these 2 types of losses earlier, and bounced back. We need a get right game Thursday. -

It is more surprising if they miss a shot, even when we have someone draped over them. We are not strong with the basketball. We can't dribble against a guy. -

They are making everything wide open shots (which there have been far too many), contested shots, and acrobatic shots. -

Now, Smith draws a foul (hasn't been a foul in the other 25 minutes of the game). Throws one up and it goes in. It's all about pride, and figure out how to play with contact. -

The refs are the least of our worries. However, 5 players are on the floor and zero fouls committed. -

To be fair to Kent, he called the double dribble and Iowa doesn't get 2 free throws. Brice's 3 then wins it.
