  1. If we get Gill going, I would like to see the minutes distributed like this Watson: 35 Webster: 35 Taylor: 10 Gill: 25 Roby: 15 McVeigh: 10 Morrow: 25 Jordy: 25 Jacobson: 20 With adjustments based on how people are playing.
  2. Not going to win many games when the other team shoots 60% from the floor, and 7-15 from 3. Our offense this year has to be Webster getting to the rim. Watson hitting his 18 foot pull-up. Morrow battling down low. Jacobson, Morrow, and Jordy battling on the glass. Jack needs to hit open 3's. It's all about gaining strength. Roby missed a lay-up because he short armed it worrying about the KU guy blocking it. In a year in the strength program, he dunks the ball with authority. Horne gave away 7 points, and cost him a bunch of minutes. Lost his man for an easy 3, allowed his man to drive by him, and turned it over for an easy KU run out. About the game I expected. KU played their starters all but the last minute, and we still outscored them. My favorite part of the game was when KU tried to get cocky and blew the dunk off the glass.
  3. We need him to make the shots inside 2 feet, though.
  4. I would like to play Jack to try to get him going. We will need him in Big 10 play. Gill has played pretty well, today.
  5. They've only attempted 14 today, made 8.
  6. I would rather play Jack, than Fuller.
  7. I am hoping we can keep knocking down some 3's, and get our confidence going. Glynn has 1, Gill has 1, and Tai has 1. We haven't tried too many, either.
  8. He should be. #10 and #11 would be sitting by me for awhile, if I were coach.
  9. He seemed scared of the Kansas defender coming over to help.
  10. We have to play defense. We can't let teams shoot 65 % and expect to win.
  11. Now, those getting on Miles for not playing Horne during meaningful games. Will this game prove Miles has a point? I think Horne will be a valuable player for us, in the future. Especially if he gets this defensive thing down. He lost his man for a 3, let his guy blow by him, which made him get an easy put back, then tried dribbling through a double team for an easy Kansas lay-up. That was 7 points he gave up without scoring.
  12. These refs are an embarrassment to basketball. It goes both ways. Jordy fouled Mason on the 3. Never touched the ball. They call no foul, but they give the ball to Kansas.
  13. It goes both ways. Roby just jumped up with the ball, and came back down with it.
  14. How come refs can't call it a travel when a guy catches the ball, bobbles it, grabs it after taking 2 steps?
  15. Found out why Horne hasn't got much playing time lately.
  16. Nor a bad strategy when you can't make a 3.
  17. Nor a bad strategy when you can't make a 3.
  18. A few things here. Playing devil's advocate. 1 and 2: 95 % of coaches in power conferences preach defense. If you can't play defense, you are not getting on the floor for probably any coach in the country. You can't average 10 PPG, if you give up 10 + PPG. It does you no better than a player who scores 5 PPG, but gives up 5 PPG. 3 and 4: Going into his 5th year, Nee was 61-64, and 18-38 in conference, a .321 winning percentage in conference. In Nee's first 4 years (in a conference of 8 teams), they finished 5th, 7th, 7th, and 7th. The thing that turned it around was a senior led talented team. Two players on the 5th year team were eventually drafted in the NBA first round (Pike and King) 5. I agree with this. Our spacing is awful, and we have no emphasis on getting the ball inside for a kick-out or a short little shot. Our post players struggle to get the ball out of the post for an open shot, on the rare occasions we get it inside. We need to try to run a little bit on steals and missed shots. 6. If we are winning with our boring style, people are still going to cheer. It doesn't matter if you run the triple option or the run and shoot in football, as long as you win. 7. Doc rarely played tough Non Conference schedules. This makes it easier to get into the postseason. He could go 10-1 out of conference, and then go 5-11 in conference, with a loss in the conference tourney, and have a winning record. A winning record playing in a major conference is going to get you some NIT games. I think most people would agree, last year's class of Glynn, Jack, Mike, and Ed is going to be tied to Miles' future here. We have to just wait until the end of the season, to see how we did this year. How much the freshmen, and sophomore class improves. Then, we can debate the future of Miles, and whether he is going to make it here or not.
  19. KU 82 Nebraska 55 Can we do a negative total for 3's. Like the refs deduct 3 points from our total because we broke the rims shooting? Actually, I will go with 6 3 pointers.
  20. I thought the 1st half we played very well on defense. The 2nd half, we were terrible on defense. Mo Watson blew by our guys constantly in the 2nd half. Creighton shot 61 % in the 2nd half. They shoot 41 %, like the 1st half, and we hold them to 65 points for the game.
  21. Yeah. We need to start scoring more points than the other team.
  22. He has the makings of being a good shooter. He has nice form, and all. His 3 pointer tonight was halfway down. I think he does need to drive though, and that will make him a better shooter. Get the ball in the basket, and make the defender sag off of you. I think he could be just like Tai. Maybe Tai needs to take him under his wing, and teach him that fine art. Tai didn't learn it until his junior year, and he shot 34 % from 3 last year, and is at 38 % from 3 this year.
  23. Jordy played great in the 1st half. I even thought to myself, that Patton was a little overrated. Then, Patton showed in the 2nd half, that Jordy is very much a true freshmen. He just pump faked and drove right by on back-to-back possessions. Defense kept us in the game the 1st half. The 2nd half was a terrible all around display. Our offense was horrible, and our defense was horrible. Why are we guarding Mo Watson so tight. He is 7-13 from 3, but he's only attempted 2 a game. We let him blow right by us like we were in quicksand the whole time. I know Creighton is an excellent 3 point shooting team, I still would have liked to see some zone. Just to switch it up, and maybe get Horne in the game for some minutes. To see if he could spark us offensively. We did a decent job on the boards. For as many shots as we missed, we were only outrebounded by 1. This team can be frustrating, we have guys that can shoot. McVeigh shot 34 % from 3 last year. Webster shot 35 % from 3. Those guys shouldn't be 2-10 from 3. This team does a lot of good things though. They play hard. They rebound pretty well. They play pretty good defense. We just have to learn to put the ball in the basket. If we figure out how to do that, the rest of the things are in place for this team to be pretty good. Tai has to be on the floor, and not in foul trouble. The score went from 41-37 to 48-37 in the blink of an eye with him on the bench. Miles brought him back with 12:30 left, but he couldn't be his aggressive self, getting to the basket. Two areas we have to work on. We have to get the ball inside to the post players. The post players have to figure out how to pass out of the post. That's about all I have. We have played one of the toughest non-conference schedules in school history. Just let it all hang out against Kansas, and see where the chips fall. I have seen crazier things happen before.
  24. Our bench outscored their bench. That's a positive. We are going to lose a bunch more games if we go 3-22 from 3. This team needs to make 3's, if we don't, we're going to be in for long season. I don't know what we have to do to start making 3's. If our players have to spend 30 hours a week, just shooting, or what we can do to start hitting 3's.
