Our big guys are just getting dominated around the basket. A real welcome to the Big 10 and Power 5 basketball for Mast and Allick. -

Why do you call that now when you have not called it the entire game? -

Everytime he tries to move or make a cut they grab him. Hard to get open that way. -

How do you intentionally grab someone without closing your hand? -
uneblinst's postgame chatter: vol 16; ed 6 - Duquesne
HuskerBB replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Very nice win. Duquesne was as physical a team as you are ever going to face - at least in the way they played with hand checks and shoves all over the floor. Good that we did not back down and stayed disciplined. Plus as noted when a team plays like that you are going to eventually shoot a lot of free throws and you need to make them - which we did very well tonight. I thought our players showed a lot of character in dealing with that from an opponent. Crowd was very good as well. Don't think I have ever seen a player flop as obviously as the kid (Grant I think) from Duquesne. If he got breathed on he went into convulsions on the floor. Worked the first two times though. The one with about a minute to go in the game was really ridiculous - but that time he waited too long to fall down and the refs were not even looking at him anymore I guess. Did they change the rule where you could get a technical foul for flopping? Certainly have never seen anyone deserve one more than that kid tonight. -
Oregon State (3-0) vs. Nebraska (4-0) Game thread

Face value was high - quite a bit higher than I remembered them being the last time we played there. $48 on the ends and $77 on the side court I think for most of them. But yes I am going also. -
Rider (1-1) vs. Nebraska (2-0) Game Thread

I think that this is a very good Rider team that we have caught on an off night (and we have gotten some breaks by putting them in foul trouble). I am just hoping we hang on. -

I agree on Coleman completely. But I have seen Brice do some good things without the ball. -

Do not like the way things are going. Felt like we were lucky to be up 9 at half and we don't seem to come out with much intensity and purpose in the 2nd half. -

Agree. Let the game come to you - don't force things like it seems like everyone wants to do tonight. -
You may be right Norm - in fact I am sure that is at least part of it. That said, I also think Emmanuel Bandoumel and Juwan Gary came here with a way better work ethic than other players we have had recently - especially than the players we had the season or two before.

Had not seen those numbers. This post makes me more optimistic about this season than anything I have read on here.

Don't have to go much before Mikki. Made me remember watching Bruce Chubick get a rebound, throw the outlet pass and then finish a no dribble fast-break with a dunk on the other end. Watching it in real time you would have to shake your head and think Wow did that really just happen? - How did he do that?
-
It sure seems like Bryce comes back here alot for someone who came here from a distance and who only spent one year at the school. Not complaining about that - but curious about it. Does he still have a girlfriend here or does he simply like Lincoln that much.

Also relevant that all (or nearly all) the tickets were sold before they ever announced who the musical act was going to be.
-
To answer my own question - UNL put out a notice that tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster Thursday at 10
-
Bumping as I did see something that tickets might go on sale sometime this week. If anyone does see them available please post in this thread.
-
Where did you find tickets listed? The Pentagon website sends you to ticketmaster for their upcoming events but our game is not included on that list. I also checked stubhub and could not find a listing there. UNL ticket office told me their allotment would be "limited" - so trying to at least check other options as well.

Just wondering if anyone has a lead on getting tickets to the Pentagon Game in Sioux Falls vs. Oregon State. Set for 11/18 I think. Made that trip a few years ago when we played Oklahoma State up there and it was a fun time and have several people who want to go this year. Just renewed our season tickets - but I don't think there was antyhing out yet about road games through the UNL ticket office. Has anyone tried to get tickets yet to this through an outlet in Sioux Falls?

me too

Wrightsell and Sallis in the backcourt would be a great combination it seems to me. Noticed that CU did not appear anywhere on Wrightsell's list. I really don't remember much about him from high school but his numbers last year at Fullerton look good.

Maybe this has been asked already - but how in the HE!! does DJ Carstenson get to ref an NCAA tournament game?? Do they have no standards at all??

Just saw this. Really sad to hear as Andre was truly a Husker basketball legend. Loved watching him play - he was one who really enjoyed the game. One of my clear Andre Smith memories is of him sitting on the bench after we had clinched a win and just having fun watching the scrubs finish the game. Have to also say he was also a master of "dirty play" - he would often give someone a little shove or elbow when the ref wasn't looking and then when the other guy retaliated and got called for fouling Andre he would just give the opponent a knowing smile and go the the free throw line. A couple of Andre's teammates - Jerry Shoecraft and Eric Williams have lived in Lincoln a long time. I bet they have some great Andre Smith stories. Wish they would jump on here and share. Just looked at that 1980-81 roster - Andre's senior year and my freshman year at NU. That team had alot of my husker favorites. Andre and Mike Naderer as seniors. Jack Moore, Jerry Shoecraft and Ray Collins and Juniors - and two of my all-time Husker favorites - Greg Downing and Claude Renfro were sophomores on that team. Great memories !

This is the point I wanted to make in reading this thread. There is no way to know for certain what our record may have been without the injuries. But I think it is clear that Bandoumel and Gary were a huge part of instilling the defensive culture that we still bring to the floor. Had Bandoumel not get hurt we likely would not have seen the emergence of Jamarques Lawrence into a really valuable player - but at the same time I am pretty certain that without Bandoumel on the team Jamarques would not be the player he has become. Even though we have done well without them on the floor I don't think that diminishes the huge positive impact that Bandoumel and Gary had on this team.

Big 10 tournament Generator is showing Maryland as the #6 seed under all 4 potential outcomes of the remaining 2 games. So looks like that would be the opponent if we get past Minnesota.
