I just listened to the Ben Johnson Show on KFAN in Mpls. He was on the Miles’s staff that beat the Gophers in the last ever game played @ BDS. You know he’s not “one of us” though because he pronounced it Bob De-Vein-y Sports Center…

I couldn’t agree more, I look at it through a LONG lens myself. But in a “what have you done for me lately” World it’s easy to feel beleaguered. When it switched from Leaders/Legends to East/West I joked with coworkers it should be the East Division & the Nebraska Division, now a Bowl game is a distant memory. I like others on the Board are more BASKETBALL fans than Football fans so this mess is especially difficult, but we will RISE!

I lived in Mpls for a long time before we joined the B1G & was well versed in the Border Battle & all things Cheesehead related. Theses schools view us as Interlopers (which we are) & the very definition of “All Hat & NO Cattle” (also true) sadly it’s reached a point where a good friend of mine who travels extensively in WI for business no longer mentions where he went to school. To that I say Keep the Faith & #GBR

Lee & I studied under the same Journalism Teacher & he’s one of my All-time favorite sports writers regardless of where he’s from. I think of our first ever B1G Football game at Madison against Russell Wilson. And then I think of our last game of this Basketball season in Madison that could see us cement 0-20. And then you throw in Volleyball & I can’t help but see how ALL of these events at the hands of the Badgers have contributed to our utter collapse. Michigan & Ohio St were supposed to be our “Heavyweight” rivals when we joined the Conference, buts it’s Bucky who has driven the stake in our hearts time & again…

I hope they keep alcohol sales out of Memorial Stadium & PBA. Having a couple brews or being blind drunk won’t change the product on the field or the court. What you make in revenue you’ll lose in the overall quality & tenor of the crowd.

Also, ask yourself if that 19 win team that won 2 games in the B1G Tournament (with 6 players I might add) looked like a “bottom feeder”…?

I’ll never scoff @ 19 wins & the year the Conference was “down” the 5th place team played for the National Title. So now what…?

Two Top 4 finishes & a 19 win season, in 7 years. So roughly half the time you’re one of the best teams in the B1G, that was unacceptable to you? Just so we’re clear, because I grow weary of revisiting the facts regarding Miles.

In hindsight it’s still a no brainer. Obviously no one saw this level of futility coming down the track. It’s easy to forget how recently THAT level of success was considered not “good enough” but here we are …

Miles won 41 games his last two years & got fired.

Henry T. came right out & said it on the Radio today. This whole team is “soft”, he was at practice this week & came right out & asked them why? Minnesota only has 2 wins, but watch how much harder they’ll play than we will on Wednesday.
