  1. UConn ruining it for everyone:
  2. One day, I dream of a time where we're less focused on suppressing the successes of another program and more focused on how we're doing in March. Maybe some day we'll have more Elite Eight appearances than some other teams and it just doesn't matter to us how other teams are doing.
  3. What a run by Creighton. Likely their game to lose late in this Elite Eight game. Hope this leads to bigger things for the state of Nebraska going forward.
  4. Rough one for Creighton. If this went to OT, they win this game.
  5. Imagine if Creighton could make a three-pointer.
  6. The question going forward is whether this is an exception or the norm? (Realizing now...no pun intended) With nearly free reign transferring and NIL, we might start to see talent spread out a whole lot more than 1990s college basketball.
  7. Why not? You don't need to recruit an entire basketball program. Get A couple game changer players via NIL commitments and you have a shot. Is it sustainable? I'd have to refer to the AD experts for ROI.
  8. Interesting. So just 3 teams with the same or more appearances (and with zero wins) than us: Boise State (8) Eastern Kentucky (8) Louisiana-Monroe (7) Nebraska (7)
  9. Teams who have never made the NCAA tournament (35): Army, Bethune-Cookman, Central Arkansas, Chicago State, The Citadel, Denver, Elon, Grambling, High Point, Incarnate Word, Kansas City, Maine, Maryland Eastern Shore, UMass Lowell, New Hampshire, North Alabama, NJIT, Omaha, Presbyterian, Purdue Fort Wayne, Quinnipiac, Sacramento State, Sacred Heart, St. Francis Brooklyn, SIUE, South Dakota, Stetson, UC Riverside, USC Upstate, UT Martin, UTRGV, Utah Valley, Western Illinois, William & Mary, Youngstown State Teams not eligible yet (10): Bellarmine, Lindenwood, Merrimack, Queens, Southern Indiana, Stonehill, St. Thomas, Tarleton State, UC San Diego, Utah Tech It's seemingly not so easy to find how many D1 programs have been to the tournament but have never won an NCAA tournament game.
  10. If they get past the Final Four, it's their game to lose. The left side of the bracket is suspect at best. FAU: 13 NET, 25 AP ranking Creighton: 17, not ranked San Diego State: 14, 18 UConn: 8, 10 Texas: 7, 5 Miami: 35, 16
  11. If this year's tournament has done anything for me, it's reminded me that the regular season (kind of) doesn't matter. You need to do well enough to qualify and get selected. Outside of that it's anybody's game. That said, why do we make it so hard on ourselves in the regular season?
  12. Just make sure to put that in your will, just in case it doesn't happen in our lifetime.
  13. No D1 Alaska program. Just D2: Alaska Nanooks Alaska Anchorage Seawolves
  14. Blame @Norm Peterson. Creighton never made it to the Elite Eight before Norm found that cursed item. We are truly cursed.
  15. I mean... between Collier and Sadler, we never once had a winning conference season in the Big 12. Not saying past results are indicative to future performance, but it's not like it was a cakewalk for us in that conference. For what it's worth, two of Nee's four seasons in the Big 12 were above 0.500. Nee's best standing in the conference was #4, Collier #6, Sadler #7.
  16. Just wish we could hold up our end of the bargain in postseason play. Good healthy competition only improves the footprint for the state.
  17. It seems Notre Dame is trying to speak on behalf of all of college football teams: “At Notre Dame, revenue from football and men’s basketball goes to support 24 other varsity sports, including, most important, women’s sports — most of which did not exist on college campuses before 1972,” Jenkins and Swarbrick write. So, basically, the skills, abilities, and sacrifices of the young men who play football and basketball are subsidizing sports that can’t generate enough money to justify their existence. How is that even remotely fair to the football and basketball players? That’s why they want to restrict NIL payments. By pointing that cash from the players and back to the players, it helps preserve a football/basketball windfall that can be redirected to other aspects of the school’s budget. Along the way, Jenkins and Swarbrick have a specific request for the NFL. “To ensure that players arrive at college only after making an informed choice — and a real commitment to learning — we urge the [NFL] to establish a minor league alternative for young players,” they write.
  18. Can't control who you play. Impressive run nonetheless.
  19. This is a weird game to watch. Going into halftime I thought "Creighton salvaged their half" and then "Princeton salvaged their half". Quite the swing of runs at the end of the half. Probably goes down to who loses steam first.
