Selection Committee Games of Interest
HuskerFever replied to hhctony's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I know Lunardi is watching this game. And he's going to say "Texas hung in there even without their best big man and an injury. They're a tournament team." Meanwhile I am fully confident Lunardi didn't watch our game and he's thinking "Nebraska got lucky against Kansas. KU was clearly having an off game." -

A couple of the Big 12's best teams have found themselves in some odd streaks. OU: 6 games (ended) Texas Tech: 3 games (4 if they lose to West Virginia) Maybe the computers thought too highly of these two teams and now all their opponents got credit for such big wins? -

I just worry that the committee will be like "well they could've won the game with him." -

This Stetson/Lipscomb game is so bad that the TV/digital scoreboard wasn't working for a good chunk of the 2nd half. -

I'm going to be optimistic here and say that it would've taken Virginia Tech losing its final 2 and a bad turnout in the ACC championship. Texas is another story. No excuses here, Kansas. -

Lunardi during tonight's game: Virginia Tech should be safely in. -
Is this a barometer of how far we've come this season?

Nebraska on the Selection Committee Board
HuskerFever replied to hhctony's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I would imagine that there really are only about 5-10 teams left in question between the brackets (assuming there are no surprises in midmajor championships). So much of the variance between brackets would come from seeding. Now how do we find those brackets that account for eye tests, a chairman that attended your games, scheduling blunders, etc? -

I glanced at it and it looks like they're coming up with some sort of composite score and the lowest variance wins. Does this have more weight on picking the most accurate seeding? Or predicting the field of 68? Only reason it matters for us this year is I'd rather have a more accurate forecast for the field of 68. -

I've heard it can be an advantage to play an earlier game (of course as long as you win) because you can used to the court and rims at the new gym much earlier than your opponent who hasn't played there yet.

I've watched way too much Pac-12 basketball this season and I struggle seeing them get more than 4 bids in the tournament. -

Can we all agree...the conference media reception, national media reception, bubble talk, etc. feels nothing like what Northwestern received when they made their run to get selected into the NCAA tournament? -

But if the past two weeks (weekends) are any indication, most of the bubble teams will win those games they need to win. And the bubble teams that lose will not drop much. Still a fighting chance things shift our way these next two weeks though! -

Okay that's interesting. So are Big East games included in St. John's season tickets? That's the big difference I see between the home versus neutral conversation. Then again, they are the nearest distance than all other opponents. Just seems odd that one team is going to get a gift here.
