  1. It's one of the rules eliminated at the PBA concession stands to keep thing moving
  2. Need 3 more in the regular season
  3. The unfortunate thing about Denim Dawson and his lack of shooting/scoring is that this is the first year of the Hoiberg era where he's not complimenting a guy who dominates the ball when on the court.
  4. Notes from UNL •-Nebraska started three freshmen (Jamarques Lawrence, Denim Dawson and Sam Hoiberg) for the first time since Feb. 20, 2016. That night was the last of four straight games started by Glynn Watson Jr., Michael Jacobson and Jack McVeigh. •-Sam Hoiberg becomes the 11th different Husker to start a game this season, as Nebraska used its seventh different lineup of the season. Hoiberg becomes the third Husker freshman to start at least once this season. •-Prior to tonight, the last time that Nebraska had two Lincoln natives in the starting lineup was January 11, 2003, at Kansas (Jake Muhleisen and Andrew Drevo). *-Blaise Keita saw his first action since Jan. 12, as he missed NU’s last four games with an ankle injury. Before tonight, he has played just eight minutes since suffering the injury against Queens on Dec. 20 He finished with four rebounds in 11 minutes. *-Sam Griesel reached double figures for the 12th time this season and posted his second 20-point game of the season. It was his second 20-point game of the season and 15th of his career. It was his highest output since scoring 22 against Maine in the opener. *-Keisei Tominaga had 11 points off the bench, his 13th double-figure game and 9th off the bench this season.Tominaga also matched his career high with three steals
  5. Same sort of deal without Gary to grab rebounds and Bando to guard the best player without fouling....we slightly outshoot another team but lose by double digits because of FTs and shot volume.
  6. yup, last 12 minutes of the game
  7. Underwood had a son walk-on as well for him
  8. Doc benched Shang Ping for the rest of his career for the shot that Breidenbach just hucked up
  9. lost a 6'11" guy in the paint
  10. Walker coming in with 2 fouls and 5:03 to go in the half. Let's hope we can get him through
  11. I think this is known but Nebraska stayed on the road between the Maryland game and today's game.
  12. A UTEP coach? That also feels like deja vu
  13. Nebraska Cornhuskers (10-12) vs Illinois Fighting Illini (15-6) Date: January 10th, 2023 Time: 6:00 pm Arena: State Farm Center Broadcast: BTN Illinois Info Head Coach: Brad Underwood Location: Champaign, IL Conference: B1G Nickname: Fightin Illini Mascot: Chief Illiniwek They got rid of Chief Illiniwek in 2007 Line: Illinois by 13.5 Typical Rotation Depth: 8+ KenPom rank: 35 A couple of Famous Alumni: Nick Anderson, Steven Bardo Other: In their first meeting, Illinois blew out Nebraska in Lincoln 76-50. Terrance Shannon led 4 Illini in double figures with 25. Sam Griesel scored 12 for Nebraska with Wilhelm Briedenbach adding 11. Juwan Gary's season ending injury occurred vs Illinois KenPom Analysis: The tricky part with the Illini offense is that when they miss 3pt shots they've been very good at grabbing offensive rebounds. They have one of the best defenses in the conference and the country. Player to watch: F Coleman Hawkins It's not surprising that the mobile post player leads the team in rebounds; it's somewhat surprising that he leads the team in assists. While he can hurt you inside, it's his streaky 3pt shooting you worry about. Hawkins is shooting 33.9% for the year after hitting 6-9 vs Wisconsin Player to watch: F Terrence Shannon The Texas Tech transfer is a 3 level scorer, leading the Illini in scoring. Shannon draws all sorts of contact going to the rim and is likely to be the catalyst for Illinois trying to suck in the defense to find 3pt shooters Player to watch: C Dain Dainja Elite shot blocker and a bucket. Likely he's an auto-double when he touches the ball. Foul prone, will be a game of cat-and-mouse between Walker and Dainja about who sits first due to foul problems. Bad FT shooter KenPom most used lineup PG SG SF PF C Pct 1 3 Jayden Epps 6-2 190 Fr 0 Terrence Shannon 6-6 225 Sr 24 Matthew Mayer 6-9 225 Sr 33 Coleman Hawkins 6-10 225 Jr 42 Dain Dainja 6-9 270 So 19.9 2 3 Jayden Epps 6-2 190 Fr 15 RJ Melendez 6-7 205 So 0 Terrence Shannon 6-6 225 Sr 24 Matthew Mayer 6-9 225 Sr 33 Coleman Hawkins 6-10 225 Jr 13.4 Others to watch Matthew Mayer transferred in from Baylor and is capable of playing anywhere from SF to C Fresham Guard Jayden Epps has established himself as he starting PG UNL Game Notes Probable starters for Nebraska 5 Sam Griesel G 6-7 30 Keisei Tominaga G 6-2 10 Jamarques Lawrence - G 6-3 32 Wilhelm Breidenbach F 6-10 13 Derrick Walker F 6-9 Bench 0 C.J. At this point the Huskers need to not only play well but need their opponent to not show up when on the road. To win this game, Nebraska needs to curb their turnovers and keep this lengthy Illinois team off the offensive glass. As offensively challenged as the Huskers are, they need to figure out to keep Illinois under 65 or so. Seems improbable on the road. Prediction: Illinois 77 - Nebraska 61 View full article

  15. Feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading that we can't expect to win games going forward unless we extend Hoiberg's contract. Hoiberg is under contract until 2027 and I'm fine with us rolling the dice for another year if that is what happens. If I'm painted into an artificial corner about that contract not being enough to operate, then fire Hoiberg when he gets off the plane tonight in Lincoln.
  16. Fred has more leeway if for now other reason he didn't make the university write out a contract. If I was reading these metrics correctly, Frost had to make a bowl game to get his contract back to full, not to keep his job. Seemed like he needed to show "incremental improvement" to keep his job which he's done in part because the first 3 years were so terrible.
  17. I can check around and see if Hoiberg has any overdue books or unpaid parking tickets
  18. Maryland - JUMP
  19. We actually outshot Maryland in this one....we just got outvolumed. Not sure if it was Wilcher picking up the T but that's the point where it went from ballpark to blowout
  20. Notes from UNL *-Sam Hoiberg had a career high for the second straight game with 15 points off the bench, including 3-3 3-pointers in a career high 26 minutes. Hoiberg entered the game with 13 points all season. *-With Hoiberg’s performance on Saturday, Nebraska now had had 10 players post double-figure games this season, including freshmen in consecutive games (Dawson-NW; Hoiberg-MD) *-Derrick Walker reached double figures for the team-high 13th time with 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Walker also led NU with eight rebounds. *-With his eight rebounds today, Derrick Walker went over 500 for his career. He now has 504 career rebounds. *-Nebraska shot 53.3 percent from the floor today, the seventh time Nebraska shot 50 percent from the field this season. It was also NU’s best shooting night in Big Ten play (previous high was .508 at Minnesota). NU was 6-0 this season when shooting at least 50 percent. Maryland set Nebraska opponent highs for free throws made (24), attempted (26) and percentage (.923) Prior to today, the opponent high in free throws made this year against Nebraska was 16 at Purdue. Prior to the game, opponents were shooting .658 from the line against Nebraska in 2022-23.
  21. I just finished rewatching the first half and probably the worst call out of the lot was the flop call against Maryland where they missed Scott getting conked in the head by Wilcher.
