I think our lineups are going to largely depend on matchups. If we need bangers, Yvan and Walker should get the 5 slot. If we don’t and want to speed up the game while maintaining our size, it could get very interesting. Cam (6’2”) Banton (6’8”) Mayen (6’8”) Allen (6’5”) Stevenson (6’6”) ^^ this lineup can 1. Handle the ball. 2. Rebound 3. Have 5 three point shooters. 4. Switch on screens. 5. Have interchangeable positions on offense and still be a terror in transition. Or, when we play, say, a physical team like Rutgers, we could add more beef. Cam Teddy (225) Stevenson (245) Cross (230) Yvan (245) Small ball: Cam Burke Thor Teddy Stevenson Point being, the versatility of next year’s lineup looks pretty remarkable.

A kid with his athleticism can be taught to play defense. Beyond impressed with his offensive skills. I don’t think we’d ever want him guarding the post, but he actually looks quick and long enough to guard the three. He’d probably out score a lot of his matchups. -
I don’t think we’ll see Green as an off guard again. I think his game only functions well when he dribbles a lot like his JUCO days. But because we have arguably the best point guard in the conference, Green’s minutes will have to be slim since we are good to go at the 2 with Burke/Easley. I’d still like to see Green get 5-10 minutes a night at PG. I would hope Cam goes back down to the 30-35 range now that we seem to have a more settled rotation.

I don’t agree on nights where Dachon is tragically misfiring. We now have someone we know we can put in and make just as many plays. In fact, the way they were rotated last night I think gave Dachon a chance to calm himself, get inspired, and come back in to help win the game for us. But I’m in general agreement—I think if Dachon is playing decent he’s a slightly better player than Easley since he can get his own shot. I urge everyone to get over the underdog story with Easley though. He’s the best true freshman walk-on I’ve ever seen at UNL. He was a legitimate D1 prospect and likely would’ve been a solidly contributing midmajor player somewhere similar to Dachon. We are beyond lucky to have him.

Thor really is a xfactor for us. When he hits from outside, he’s a legit stretch 4 for us because he’s still somewhat serviceable there on the defensive end. Great game from him on the boards. Cam is truly special when the guys around him decide to play at his IQ level and move without the ball/make shots. PLAY EASLEY. He’s our best perimeter defender. Gotta make those threes because once he does, we’ll have ourselves a Bruce Bowen. Burke was very clutch tonight. He had a nice stat line, but he kept us steady with some big shots. Cross was fantastic and played like a true versatile big. 1/3 threes, 4/5 from the line. Some grown man finishes around the rim. Cheatham was a nuisance on both ends. He was probably a part of 4-5 team steals. Good to see the threes go down for him. Yvan was okay. The effort was definitely there on both ends. Game ball goes to Doc for this one. He put together another pesky defensive game plan. I don’t think this game was a fluke. I think we’re a decent team at home when we don’t crap the bed in the first 10 minutes. There are more home wins on the horizon. Let’s not talk about the road.

It’s not that Green shouldn’t play and we’re better when he doesn’t. It’s that he’s a natural PG and we happen to have an all conference PG who can play long minutes ahead of him. Dachon is going to have to play well because Easley just proved he’s a player and deserves double digit minutes at the 2 every night.

I stand corrected. Maybe he’ll get to scrimmage with the team. -
As I said originally, Kavas and Arop could provide spot minutes for Yvan and Cross. Cross at the 5 is no more effective defensively at the 5 than Kavas or Arop would be, so we might as well use him in his natural spot at the 4. And I saw absolutely nothing last night that merits more time for Green on the wing. I’m comfortable with our disagreement.

I think Fred wants to install his system and fulfill his promises to the kids who took a risk to stick with us and fill our roster. And fair enough. What better player do we have at the 4 than Cross? I’d like him to start getting minutes at his natural spot. He can guard the 4. I’m giving up on Green as a 2 guard. I like him at the 1. I haven’t given up on Easley at the 2. He shows competence every time he steps on the court on both ends. He’s a warrior in practice. I’d like to see him get big minutes in a game at some point. I think he can produce every bit offensively from the 2 that Green or Burke have of late.

Luckily he’ll get a year to see us with Fred’s first real roster. -
Meh. I think if you have three 6’8” point forwards who are legitimate ball handlers/slashers it could definitely be offset with their length and speed. If we actually had a three point shooter or point forward (a Roby type) over 6’6” that theory could be tested. With this team though? I want Cross AND Yvan on the court at the same time as much as possible in conference play.
