Yep, we have returned offensively to standing around & dribbling the air out of the ball. I’ve counted at least 3 times we have missed offside cutters wide open under the hoop. The roller coaster that is JG is not what I expected to see this year.

Is it just me or were Willard & Matt Davison separated at birth?

A larger question: is he even capable of getting going at this level? I'm starting to have significant doubts.

As someone said in the game thread, we likely wouldn’t have beaten Purdue regardless with the way they shot the ball. However, the entire program should be embarrassed by the lack of effort on both ends of the floor.

Turning this crap off - hope these guys respond a little by the end of the game. They are getting clowned right now.

We are getting our asses kicked right now due to lack of effort, lack of discipline and awful decision making. Doesn’t have a damn thing to do with the officiating.

Lots of issues tonight - terrible defense for most of the night is the primary one. Something that stood out to me looking at the box score - Juwan took 21 shots tonight. Turning him into a volume shooter is not a great formula either.

Gave up 21 points in OT. Seen a lot of choke jobs in my day - this one is pretty high on the list.

The bad calls only started to matter when we absolutely choked away a 15 point lead in the 2nd half.

Was probably a bad call on Brice - was also a bad decision on his part to try and take it to the hole in that situation. Defensive closeouts on their shooters has been much better the last 5 minutes.

Playing pretty well so far but not a fan of this pace.

I don't have much to add - as I said in the game thread, Southern is a bad basketball team. My biggest takeaway is I fully expected a let down by NU. I didn't think we would lose, but I did think it would be a lot closer simply due to the travel & lay off between games. A lot to clean up but for the most part, effort & intensity was there.

My 1 contribution for the evening - I realize Southern is missing a couple of players, but that is a bad basketball team.

Context is important - Coach Hoiberg has done a really good job of adjusting and adapting through a really challenging first 4 years. He started with a plan that didn't work, he began to adjust and then got hit with the Covid thing, which set his plan back by at least 2 years. He has stayed the course, kept adjusting, and it appears he has an approach that can be successful at Nebraska. I'm not saying he's doing everything right and there's a lot of this season left, but he seems to have a good handle on it now. Congrats to the team on the tournament win!
