Well, if you call having chronic arm trouble "psycho", I suppose. If you're going to post something like that, back it up. Anyway, getting back to reality, we should have more pitching depth this year to tide us over until Kubat returns.

We're hosting the Sweet 16/Elite 8 games rather than the opening rounds, so it's pretty hard for the NCAA to project attendance based on that. There are standards, and they aren't allowed to reach THAT much to put a team in. We need to earn it; I'm confident and optimistic we will, but we won't get a mercy entry.
-
Not sure how tongue in cheek it was. The last place teams have 3 wins; we have 4. Stranger things have happened. (not that i think it will)

Interesting question, Normie. All about timing. When the commitments were made, Illinois had a decent 1st year under its new coach. And the perception that hope reigns. Life is about timing. Would we have gotten Gesell if Miles was in his first year? Despite finishing last 2 out of 3 years prior? Personally, I think yes. Doc was too far on the other side by the time of Gesell's recruitment, and it wasn't clear he would make it. Interesting that the Illini coach likes Nebraska players. He recruited Sadie Murren to Wisc. Green Bay, and now 2 players to Illinois. More on how he got White--I have heard a few stories, which aren't for message board consumption .

I would love it if Tai could get his 3 point stroke going, but this post is a pretty one-dimensional look at what a point guard does. it also ignores MIles' comments about Benny's contributions in the Northwestern game. I wouldn't get too high on parker. He had one decent game against northwestern. Still averaging 1.6 pts a game and has not made a 3 pointer this year. He plays solid on ball defense, but he's only 5'8 which still makes him somewhat limited defensively. And neither Tai or Benny are dishing out assists along with not being able to shoot. Assuming we are playing zone on defesne, I think Hawkins could potentially be our best option over Tai and Benny. Having another guard on the floor that can shoot the 3 would make us almost unguardable on offense. Hawkins seems to be gaining a lot of confidence over the last few games. Well, just saying he isn't "useless" isn't necessarily getting too high on him.

Don't know, but our RPI was 72 recently. It's gong up with the recent wins, but if we lose all but 3 of our remaining games, it would take a hit. When was a middle of the pack team (which we would be if we only end up with 20 wins) with a low RPI in? The Big 10 is down this year compared to past years. We have 17 wins now. To have only 20, we would end 3-4 down the stretch, most likely. That would have us finishing weak, with a low RPI, which I think would put us out. Hopefully it's just an academic discussion, as I think we'll finish with more than 20 wins, and we'll never know for sure what would have happened with a poor finish. But from my perspective, we'll need more than 20 this year to get in. 22 to be safe.

Not this year. We don't have our usual high RPI from non-conference play. Also, 20 wins would most likely mean we finished in dreadful fashion, which would hurt us with the Committee.

Could the Huskers be walking into a trap-game Thursday night? Let's hope they play like they did at Iowa or like they did against Michigan St. _________________________________________________________________ We should get the Wolverines' best shot. Huge game for them, coming off some bad losses, plus they should motivated after the blowout in Lincoln. However, Connie has historically had her team ready for such games. Big game for us as well; should be a whale of a game.

Thanks, Throwback. Your best effort yet. I had to miss the show, and reading your posts had to be just like being there.

Uh, the guy we have now is not doing the same thing over and over; he actually is scheduling differently than we did in the 15 lost in the wilderness years, yet you kill him for that. Could it make you a troll? (and me a fool for responding again, I get that)

Icedraggon, can't believe I'm getting draged into this, but here goes ... 1. The dismal of Correy Hilliard. Where do you get the information that he wasn't involved? In the cell phone. And what makes you think that was the ony think he did wrong He had two thinks he did wrong and got in trouble with polise but you just heared one. So Miles had no choise in the mater. Correy had too go. If Miles just wanted to cleer space on his rooster, why din't he just get rid of David Rivers to? 2. Scheduling the Charleston Classic. I agree this was bade because playing good teams a the Charleston classic helped our rpi and make us look better now since we didn't win all the games. but beat Georgia and lossed to Massachuets. So really that helped are rpi now but that only helps if we make the dance or the INT. So if we win few more games then that was good that we went at Charletson because it helps our SOS but if we don't win few more games then we don't have to make NCAAs and then that's bad. So that's bad because we could have won better against badder teams and give us a good record that has bad SOS all over it. So maybe it was good going to charletson. 3. Not excepting trounemant offer. Well, you half to remember it was not the same team last year that it is this year. If we had went to trounement like CIB lsat year its Ubel playing and we play 7 guys and the only guys coming back from that group were benny Parker and Rivers and Ray and the tall guy who doesn't play to much. And shavon. Shields. So it probably doesn't help to much that we play in a trouenemtn last yaer If we could have played last year with Petway and Pitchford and Tai and al the knew guys, then playing in CIB would have been gooder than not but since we didn't have them I guess not. 4. Deverell Biggs. You want to reserve judgment? REally? Why? You already said it was wrong to dismiss Hillyerd but not Biggs? Hillyard didn't do anything for us He just played few minutes frehman year. but Biggs scored points and so he ment something on this team. If Miles didn't have reason to dimiss Hilyerd (2 criminal complaints) then why could he dismiss Biggs who only had one that he was given more hcnance after that. Makes no since. I think miles shuld have dimissed both Hillyard and Biggs because he was right to do it. And thay did wrong stuff to so they should go. Oh man, Norm, you outdid yourself. Not sure when I will quit laughing.... Normally I wouldn't recommend feeding the troll, but this is priceless.

Good question. Ersty gave a statistic at the banquet--I didn't catch it all but he said since we joined the league it has gone from 16th to 10th to 6th or something like that in terms of conference power ratings. Said several schools are building or putting in major facility renovations. Implied they are doing it to keep up or catch up with us. He likes the competition. So it should follow that the Big can be more than a one bid league. I haven't yet looked at the lineups for other schools to get a feel for 2014, but i do think we'll get in this year.

Late game time, so there will be plenty of time to fire up a little booze pregame. I'm starting in a couple of hours.
-
You might want to sub out Leslee offense/defense at every stopped ball. If he gets fouled it's likely to be just like a turnover.
-
Nothing wrong with hashing around ideas, that's for sure. But....you are just looking at one stat; Shavon does a lot more than score. Also, Ray is not even close to being a point guard.
-
No. On this team, Shavon is decidedly not a backup, and is not a 20 minute a game guy. If his knee allows him to play, he will be on the court 30 + every game. Of a bigger concern is how we can get Leslee back to giving us some decent minutes. He has been scuffling something fierce the past several games.

Says the guy whose out to get Eichorst because he's not Tom Osborne. Ron you seem to be very very bitter. Osborne is not coming back! Dude your making this to personal. I've judged him solely on the job he's done based on the position he holds. His biggest moves thus far have been to hire a couple of unnecessary overpaid middle management bean counters instead of paying more to the assistant coaches. Lmao what? Tim Beck salary under Tom Osborne- $ 365,000 Tim Beck salary under Shawn Eichorst- $700,000 So now we are in the business of giving handouts just for the hell of it? What exactly did the assistant coaches due to deserve a raise this past year? If anything, our beef should be with Eichorst giving Els a raise....you know, the guy who can't even put together a punt return unit. Produce...and you will get a raise...plain and simple. That recruiting staff bean counters is more than Tom Osborne ever did to help this staff get over the recruiting hump. Can we keep this about basketball and the state it's in please. take the football shit else where. Sounds good, if you take the profanity elsewhere...

Agree with the comments above about Brandi; she had a very nice game. If she could play like that consistently, it would be a huge help down the stretch. It's time for that to happen.

Nebraska 11-10 Vs. Northwestern 12-11 Game Thread

Perhaps coach had fresh shooting legs in mind when he didn't have practice Thursday, after a road game and late night arrival the night before. -
Says the guy whose out to get Eichorst because he's not Tom Osborne. Ron you seem to be very very bitter. Osborne is not coming back!Eichorst has earned plenty of criticism on his own, without regard to who is predecessor was. Hopefully he will grow into the job and ultimately turn out OK.You can make that claim for just about any AD, hell...the same could be said about Tom Osborne when he was first hired as AD telling Bo which assistants to keep and being a cheapskate with recruiting resources. Eichorst atleast has started to open up the checkbook which is needed if NU wants to get back to winning football titles. The only group not giving Eichorst a chance is Ron's tradition coalition group because they know Perlman hired him without Osbornes consent. Eichorst hasn't been perfect, and probably never will be perfect but i do see that he never had a chance with this group. Of course, Pederson the guy who everyone hates...and rightfully so...was given two thumbs up by Tom Osborne before he was hired. There may be that group out there (T.O. loyalists not giving Eichorst a chance), but I assure you that's not where I'm coming from. In fact, I think there is a group of people who thought it was time for TO to fade off into the sunset who support Eichorst because he is new and not TO--without regard to how he is actually doing the job. 13, you are a great poster on this board, but is there a chance your views on Eichorst are colored by some lingering disdain for Osborne? Sounds a little like it when you hammer him for getting it wrong (like many others including myself) on Pedey. I have spent a considerable amount of time in his presence, and have been disappointed to this point. He is nicknamed "The Ghost" by many for being so publically non-existent. He is a manager rather than a leader, to this point. I am amazed that someone can generate a 7 figure salary with his lack of talent in public speaking and interacting with people. I will say he is much better one on one than trying to stumble his way around a speech or a simple walk up to a table of 8; where his lack of ability is mind-boggling for a person in his position. Last night at the baseball banquet was another classic example. No one even knew he was there until he snuck out the door, inappropriately attired once again. He stayed in a corner, and had no interaction with the tables full of boosters. This happens frequently. There are different styles that can work in this visible job, but he needs to show at least some recognition of interacting with fans, boosters, and his own coaches (his management structure is such that no coaches report to him, it is all through intermediaries. It is difficult for a coach to even get in to see him). Having said this, after a few years there will be a track record on hiring coaches. If he is good at that, all will be pretty well. But the early returns on his leadership aren't good. But sorry, we've gotten off of basketball on the basketball forum....

Good banquet tonight. Ersty was inspiring as always. Players seemed fired up; have goals of 40 wins, hosting a regional. I think it will happen. P.S. Baseball players get the women. (Pro golfers do also). The hot girlfriends made the price of admission worth it right there. Very impressive. Not to mention a couple of the moms.
